  1. I don´t think the dutch need to do such actions, the player in that cutter could be anyone with a second account, who decided that it would be "fun" (for him!) to cause trouble.

Shitty move of that guy for sure but don´t get to upset about it, because that´s most likely exactly what this guy wanted to achieve.

That Scheer guy needs to be disciplined harshly! Let me log into my other steam account and get right on it....

    (just kidding)

Alternatively, the Dutch had a random player conveniently buy a flag for Macanao (French occupied at that time) preventing the Dutch navy from taking that port. Stupid stuff like this happens to all nations - trolls be trolls. It is bad for the community, but there is very little we can do at this point.

  2. The Orange Dukes of Willem manipulate everyone around from their safe seat in the south unreachable shores.

After all they have been kind enough to themselves and having wars with 1 enemy at a time while all of us, every single one of us, the other nations, had to endure multiple front wars and have some awesome action.

... I wonder if the United Caribbean Nations council would decide to depose their regime... just for the fun of it :)

It is scurvy riddled scum like you that makes the eradication of the black scourge a priority for everyone but the most naive lambs.

How easy it is for you to bite the hand that fed you - fed you well - all those years. Your treacherous talk should be a warning to all the rat friends out there.

United we shall stand - or perish under the rule of the most iliterate of Italian wannabe dictators Lord Vicousolini.

  4. You are all speaking of peace and saying its our fault, well, when we talk about it what is your answer?

The swedes want our ports in the north

The dutch want our ports in the south

So yes you'll get your peace....when hell freezes over.

You are in the wrong thread, Sir. This thread is not about peace but about war - war on the black plague that is ravaging all over the Caribbean. You just happen to be associated with said plague spreading the disease. So that makes you a rat in plague terms.

It is not too late to abandon your sick ways. To see the light and stand with those proud citizens devoted to ridding this world from the black scourge!

That is what this topic is about.

  5. I am collecting Names of those who cry and don't have patience saying game is dead. Please don't, game means a lot to all of us. As I said many times before, if you feel you are the one who can't control your emotions just take a break until the end of Summer and please don't spread fault accusations. Game is Healthy and development is moving. After Summer I will list those names on Public board, so all can have a drink and talk about good times. :)

I would like to opt out from that list. Thank you

P.S. and please, for the love of God - fix the grammar and orthography in your signature, man! ????

  6. Good joke man, rly had to laugh! ^^

    The strong french nation:

    bbbbb.jpg

Praefect, I think his argument was that the British are the majority of whiners in this thread. He was not hinting at the Dutch being threatened by the bigger French nation, to be fair.

As flattered as I am by being labelled a voice of reason and a veteran, I stand by my previous point. I have no idea who made the decision for France to attack the Swedes. But, even if you don't like it - the French are the aggressor in this war and for this reason, they don't have the moral high ground this time around.

The individual French captain might not like it and not be at fault for the decision taken by the French admiralty. But that is how things are for now.

  7. Don't beat on the pirates too hard!

Look at this map: http://www.navalactioncraft.com/mapand tell me how France is doing being constantly attacked by the Swedes in the North and the Dutch in the South?

    Pirates?  Not an issue honestly

The war that the French find themselves in is by their own choice. They decided to go for what they tought was the "winning" team by embracing the Black and the Black dressed in Red. And with these formidable allies on their side, they joined in on the gangbang of the Swedes being fully aware that this would trigger the defensive alliance between the Dutch and the Swedes.

The Dutch and the Swedes would surely have preferred a greater Antilles alliance standing up to the Black or whoever the big bad bully of the server is at the time to balance out the global power distribution on the server.

You chose differently, now sleep in the bed that you made until Lord Vicious comes to save the day.

  8. Since there is a lack of endgame content provided by the game itself, it is upossible to the community to create such content themselves and exercise some restraint in conquest matters.

Sadly, this is not happening. You cannot really blame the developers for that. And I am not.

At fault are those nations that ally themselves with the strongest player group to imbalance global politics even more. Those of you that played Civilisation at all know full well how this works: keep useful allies until the biggest threat is crushed, then turn your former allies when there is nobody else left to fight.

Voila, you have just "won" the game.

Unfortunately, "winning the game" in Naval Action means driving away players in the opposing team. And that is what is happening.

Can't blame the devs for players being too narrow minded and too focussed on "winning the game" rather than enjoying the game together with their foes.

On a personal note: I have zero respect for those nations that gang up with the big bully to roflstomp their opposition - back in the day the French and Spanish allied with the British as the big bad bully, now they switched to the Black - that is as harmful to the player community as the exploiting pieces of steaming cow manure that the pirates are.

The pirates can't help it - they are SUPPOSED to be the assholes by design. Nations allying themselves to them, on the othe other hand have no excuse other than being spineless, in my book.

  9. This so reminded me of this scene in Austin Powers.

How dare you making closed sessions of the Willemstad Crafters Guild public without consulting the chairman first!

Mr. Cragger, stay out of the internal politics of the United Provinces - we are a sovereign nation and do not take lightly to meddling in our affairs....

    Sincerely Yours,

    Hugo van Grojt

P.S. the increase from 1 million dollars to 100 billion was decided upon due to the current inflation experienced all over the Antilles in recent weeks.

  10. Thats the spirit :). Most of all, have fun on both sides captains. I dont see any problem in French players posting their screenshots here also. Its always nice to see the situation from porspective of both sides. This game lately badly needs captains showing sportsmanship behaviour :) (just remember to report any bugs you encounter! :D ).

Please take the trolling back to clans recruitment thread.

Obviously, French war photographers and correspondents are gladly invited enter into the contest of the "Picture of the Year 1716" - Antilles Edition. Would be interesting to see more results of encounters elsewhere.

    Cheers,

  11. I would like to point again at this issue for which STILL no penalty has been issued. Not only that, but [bW] clan (see post above) proudly stands by its practice of abusing any game mechanic in the book to ruin the gameplay experience of any normal captain playing the game the non-exploiting way.

[bW] clan has been abusing the Willemstad Green Zone and logging out mechanics for weeks now, ganking single ships leaving Willemstad harbour that cannot defend against this abuse. Proof of that has been submitted to Steelsandwich and can be brought forward here. It is the same people, all the time.

I can only repeat myself - will anyone actually take action?

    EDIT: inserted screenshot

  12. Dear ship design enthusiasts,

    I have a humble question:

I have personally sailed on three-masted schooners, the oldest having been built in 1889 as a British sailing yacht "Amphitrite". All these schooners (like the Lynx ingame) have a very narrow and sleek bow.

However, the ship models we see ingame from the 17th/18th century all have a kind of round shaped bow that does not seem overly hydrodynamic. Can anyone point me to an explanation why ship builders of the time did not really go for sleek bows but rather the roundish design we see in most ships in the game?

Looking at the model of Le Gros Ventre below as an example, I cannot see how this bow design could be particularly good for reaching any sort of top speed....

    gv07.jpg

Additionally, could anyone explain why the part that holds the bow figurehead in most ships was shaped the way it was? It does not seem to support the bow spreet in most cases, but that shape must have some kind of functionality, other than looking good (referring to the golden part in the picture above, but also present in most of the ship designs we see ingame).

Thanks for your input and for pointing me in the right direction :)  Knowledge is power  :D

    Cheers,

    Hugo

  13. There once was a noble, a mighty Swede guild

But flimsily constructed, from cheap fir log built

So, oddly befitting, IKEA was its name

It has long been forgotten, moved on has the game :(

But it still has a leader, well known Tomms123

A ferocious warrior with the strength of a tree

He keeps fighting the good fight in the name of IKEA

When he's not in Gustavia gulping down cheap Danish beer

  15. Looking on action of Spian forces around Caribbean with creating screening fleet vs enemy forces, intercepting enemy ships, regular fighting vs enemies on side of our enemies and other crimes vs Venerige Provincian done by Spianiards in last days,

with no relation for our nation agreement, which could be maintained further in this invalid way by all who still want this,

HUGO REPUBLIC of Dutch declares war to Spian.

After several brutal encounters around the island of Saipan, the - rather confused - local population surrendered unconditionally to the Hugo Republic Armada as depicted in the drawing below.

    Charles_Bell_-_Jan_van_Riebeeck_se_aanko

Hugo van Grojt accepting the Saipanese Surrender.  Unnamed artist, oil on canvas, May 1716

The Hugo Republic Armada then proceeded to take on fresh water and what little fish and fruit the indigenous people of Saipan had and re-deployed back to the Caribbean.

It remains unclear, whether the war with Saipan was a clerical error or a navigational mishap. The accounts of the people of the neighbouring island of Guam are unclear in that regard.
