  1. 3 things I find "Not fun" in this game. 

     

    1) I wish the speed in OW was a little faster and distances could be covered faster when searching for wrecks and trading etc. 

    2) I wish more upgrades where craftable like Gold Powder monkeys, marines, to mention a couple and more craft control for builders. For example a 3/5 gold ship could cost and extra note. It would be really nice if some upgrades designated permanent or regular could be cross complatible for exampe enhanced ballast could be either a perm or regular upgrade. 

    3) the lack of special events that of a wider variety of items like paint, upgrades, could be so much more fun (like sealed bottles) but everytime I have tried to get a Deadman's Chest I only found empty ships. Those events attract allot of players which I noticed have decreased from the few events. 

    4) officer perks as mentioned before. 

     

    Things I find fun:

     

    1) What  I do like is the realistic sailing and combat dynamics (contrary to other posts), nicely done. 

    2) The ships are wonderful and I really like the look and detail of them.

    3) The collabrative aspect of battles and going into battles with friends, I wish there where more battles types in PvE, for example port (AI) battles where teams could take on AI/NPC fleet and fortresses challenging teams to use a variety of ships. Some with mortar boats and others protecting them.

  2. If this topic has been already addressed, my apologies.

     

    Would the developers please give us two Officers for Naval Action? One would be a Military Officer dedicated for battles, and the other would be a Merchantman Officer dedicated for trader ships.

     

    Providing two officers in-game would allow us to have two separate Officer Perk load-outs. Again, one for Military Officer and one for Merchantman Officer.

    I agree- two officers are better than one but remember -   "To err is human but to really mess things up you need an officer".   ;o)

  3. I hope not. That is not a product of the PvE, unless it's an AI type battle. Then the mechanics of such a design haven't even been developed so again I say, I hope not.

     

     

    I say it's a great idea with AI as players and after battle rewards could be used. A little imagination with how port battles could work will pay big dividends in the PvE side of the game. 

    How would they do that when they can't fight each other?

    A real life story:

    I'm currently negotiating terms of a lease contract between two parties.

    Neither party wants to file for a lease permit at the municipality.

    Both parties want an admission to this from the other party in the contract.

    (As to assert liability and damages.)

    I'm trying to convince both parties that any admission of guilt makes them both equally liable. :D

    (So it is better not to put in the contract any mention of the lease-permit. But I'm not allowed to advocate that, now am I? :P:ph34r: )

    Greetings Governor:

     

    It is now certain that the Caravan with promised goods has sailed and is expected to arrive next (this) Saturday, 10 September at 5:40 PM UTC.  There are rumors that the destination is Cabo Rojo and the chests were (are) heavy. Take all the necessary steps to make sure it is intercepted.

     

    My interpretation:

     

    Captains;

     

    We're gonna get you some stuff this time make sure you get to the wrecks near Cabo Rojo with a large ship as the chests are gonna be heavy.

     

    Heav-Hoe matties.

     

    I think these events are cool, keep them coming.

  6. I don't believe in critizing something unless I'm willing to come up with constructive ideas on how to improve it.  So here it goes;

    I suggest the a special event use existing mechanics for these events. We have the Sealed Bottles, missions and wrecks with cargo. I suggest a Special Event use "Ornate Flasks" that when opened reveal a Wreck site (similar to the fleet or individual missions), once the player opens the Flash it will reveal a Mission type icon which will have 1 or 2 equivalent ships that have to be defeated in order to reveal a wreck or some type of cargo in the follow up. . Cargo maybe be a Deadmans chest with BPs, upgrades or paint jobs for the boatswains to paint idle officers with :-), or if that fails the ship. 

     

    Now I'm sure there will be plenty of negative comments on this suggestion SO rather than throwing turd at it. Adapt, change or otherwise add to this idea so it has a possibility of helping these events out. 

  7. There was a time when we only had a cutter and HMS victory in testing, some content was missing but it did not matter long term. We have said multiple times that there will be other ways to obtain those BP.

     

    The fact that we are testing events now and how we do it has no influence on the long term conquest mechanics, especially knowing that ports will reset by end of september + will be reset again on release of the game. 

    pve server will have to wait for the AI fleets in the future Captain. For PVE server it is an Indiaman race event :) now.

     

    Indiaman prep'd and in good sailing order.

Just a thought; what about badges or awards in steam for accomplishing certain challenges like, 10% of map discovered, 25% map discovered, etc; completing 10 battles won, 20 battles, 100 battles, etc; crafting level 20, 30, 40, and Gold badge for 50. Maybe this could be implemented by the characters name or title. Master Crafter Level-50. Contact badge, visited 2,3.4 other nation towns. Distance award for shipping or travelling distances. I could go on but these award/badges are cool and are implemented in other Steam/valve games.
