  1. > After thinking and giving ideas for this game through so many days. I've thought of this idea, more of a proposal as I say.. Why not just make 2 kinds of campaign. 1. Grand Campaign 2. Historical Campaign Historical Campaign/Battles > The Historical Campaign will follow the story on how it actually goes. This also benefits to those people who just wants to fight and win wars just like the history shows. > Making it a more limited easy battle, and seeing through out the story of the civil war. > Not only you will only use a single team (like the Union) but also others as well. Depending on the scenario. > Positions of units are already set. The amount of different type of units are present. The only difference is how you command them. But still with the same ending, that is.. No matter how different you've done, the ending will still be the same. Except if you lose of course. > The best example of this is from the TTW games. Just like Medieval II, you have the choice to choose a grand campaign or historical battles. Grand Campaign > The Grand Campaign will focus on your movements throughout the whole 3 day war (4 day possible). > Different movements will lead to a different ending. Different endings leads to better enjoyment. > The setting of the game will be more dificult of course. Not only will it lead to a more difficult decision and tension, but a more enjoyable game to play.
  2. The whole Zoom Down idea.. Well I kinda don't like it, for now I guess. > Since it is still actually in progress.. It's better to just focus first on the important parts of the game before thinking and pursuing this idea. Especially when this is the kind of game that's hard to apply a zoom in function.. > Somehow, it doesn't seem to fit the background of the game to apply a zoom down thing function. Might as well just leave it that way. > Depends if the developers will stick to the plan of the theme of the game.
  3. You know, that's not a bad idea actually. Depending on what will happen on the battlefield, can change an ending through the end. Even if it exceeds a 3 day limit of the history, it still gives a more enjoyable game. I suggest you'll stick with that idea ===Edited Update=== > I've researched deeper on the Battle of Gettysburg and learned more about the happenings of this event.. The plan in exceeding 3 days of the war Battle of Gettysburg is actually great idea! > After the three day bloody war in Gettysburg (July 1 - 3), in July 4, it heavily rain during at that time. July 4 should've been a counter attack from the Union. Well, that's what I've learned from other different sites.. Although I'm not quite actually sure on this one. sources: http://www.history.com/topics/battle-of-gettysburg sources: http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/battle-of-gettysburg-150th-ann/14824506
  4. ===Comment=== - I rather picked the limited ammo thing, to have the game a more rather difficult game to play. Yet, at the same time interesting. This can be used as an advantage and both disadvantage if you ask me. Resupplying your troops with ammos via cart, wagon or something. While having the chance to strike the enemy's supply (Ammo). ====Opinions / Suggestions==== Game Difficulties - Limited/Unlimited Ammo > Most of the flash and indi games has these kind of options. Making both people, who prefer limited or unlimited ammo, in liking the game. What kind of harm will that be to the game? >This is a very helpful way to at least help both experience/non-experience rts gamers in liking the game itself. Giving it more appealing or enjoyment to other people. Especially when I heard that this game will make it's way through tablet. With Limited Ammo > When you're going to stick with the limited ammo setting. I would suggest that ammo, or supplies could be transfered via wagon or something, to your squad or garrison places. > Since the setting will change to have a limited ammo. Tactics will also change of course. Gaining some new ways to strike the enemy from their supplies. Stealing or cutting of their supplies will be a great way to add.
  5. Or possibly something like this might be better. Shows everything what's important to know about your remaining men.
  6. David Fair, The pictures I showed was to show the terrain needed to be apply in the map. Even though it will be just a small difference, it still gives a small impact on what will be the tactics of the player. Whether the rocky type of terrain would be an advantage or disadvantage to him. And the purpose of the map was to show where was Little Round Top Located. And of course, that goes with the swamp too. I'm not saying that the fight took a major place in that map, I'm just showing the location of Little Round Top. No offense, but in my point of view. Even if how many times you walked in a place that happen a century ago, you can never tell if the exact terrain of that place is still the same. Especially when you know that place is already populated with a lot of people. Well except if that is a historical landmark, or something. Which is in Gettysburg, not the whole Gettysburg or either the other places that took place in the war, is a historical landmark. We never know that some may happen to interfere that certain place that changed the outlook of it from a century ago. Since this game is all about the war of Gettysburg in America, and since this is a RTS Game. While of course, controlling your units were to defend or attack (Most probably the game will be, since this is a 3 day war.). You may have the option to either follow what really happen in history, or follow your own tactics in mind. Even if the game will follow some parts of the Battle of Gettysburg, anything can still be change that depends on the player. But of course, I might go wrong since this game is still on developing. But on my idea, this is the most propable idea that they will make. Since the the group of DarthMod (creator of mods in TW) is in it. That means, the whole garrison inside the building thing... Should be allowed, since this is a RTS Game. Sure, as I also have not heard any accounts that the houses around Gettysburg were occupied as fortified strong points. It still can provide as at least a small cover, in a war. Logically speaking, if you were a general in that situation. Will you at least, send a small unit inside a building to provide a greater defense? Well for me yes. Even if it's made out of wood, yet has a small benefit. But again, it always depends on the developers. But thanks for the info though. Made me realize some important things to remember.
  7. ===Comment / Reaction=== - When I look at it at first, it looks great actually. The whole unit cards and the terrain of this map looks great! But there is something bugging me actually... First most importantly, is the type of terrains you need to add up. And second is the historical accuracy of the map. (In the Opinions.) - Even though I know it's impossible to get the exact map at that time of the year. Somehow the map looked quite good. But of course there are still some important features that were missing for now. ===Opinions / Suggestions=== - When you look at the map it looks great. But there are some terrains that were missing. From Cliffs, swamps, creek, to rocky type of terrains. Here is a photo taken in one of the battles of Gettysburg at "Little Round Top" photographed by Timothy H. O'Sullivan. - This one of the most important type of terrains that should be present in the map. That can provide extra cover, yet slower to move within it. - Different kinds of trees or river should be present. Depending on how much the current of the rivers are strong enough, to slow your men down. While the depending kind of tree, will provide better cover. - Buildings should be changed also can be use as cover. Like the game called "Company of Heroes 2" buildings can be used as shelters to provide cover from enemy artilery, snipers or gun fire. This will and can also help greatly improve the tactics of the game. - As far as I know.. The whole Gettysburg map isn't actually fully covered with grass. Since it's also covers with different kind of terrains. - Remember, not only a simple hill, simple cliff, simple trees or river should be present. Depending on how much complex and interesting the game is, makes the game better. [somehow reminds me of a mod I made for Shogun 2..] - Terrain played an important role in the Battle of Gettysberg. It was also stated and recorded in the history. Even though I don't know much of the geography or terrain of Gettysburg or America. I'm sure that I'm right on this one, after I've researched these things. I do hope you would reconsider this, just like from your previous works in DarthMod.
  8. ===Opinions=== - personally I perfer #26 out of all the choices. Since I find it appealing to look at the those two gentleman who are about to fight, ratings of my men and clear terain of the map behind them (Even though it's only a unit card). And also to clearly see measurement of how many of your troops, morale, etc. (I think, the picture you showed.. Well kinda isn't that clear..) - But when you look at that way, #18 has the more information of the picture on this battle.. Which information of your men is very important to be seen clearly. ===Suggestions=== - Might I suggest try mixing some of the unit cards there? Like a unit card mixture number #26 with the number #18 and number #21 is helpful. Like a 2 types of unit card. 1 is for the strengths and weakness its men, and the other is the current battle stats. From: To: - This is something what I've thought that can help. Of course, I didn't placed everything important there since I barely know little of this game for now. But a sample like this that shows a more detailed information in a current war. Show the number of units, it's percentage, and a moral at the bottom. - I might not get the general idea or wrong idea of the kind of game this is, due to the lack of info, yet I'm sure this is somehow helpful to at least add up or make an idea out of it. P.S. I made this by my own actually. Edited some pics you showed us with photoshop. This is of course, only a way to help the developers.
