PVE server - prolonged maintenance time
Jan van Santen replied to Ink's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
contracts/shops are somewhat damaged. In St Augustine all lo contracts vanished and i could buy at default. in Bridgetown i have a contract for tk still running, but teak logs don't appear in store, if you search for teak, all you find is Malabar teak wo is still normal in Nouvelle Orleans, didnt have time to check others -
So, PVE server crash AGAIN? (MAY.23.2019)
Jan van Santen replied to scharnhorst85's topic in Support
Slowly but surely the server crashes are beyond compensation.... I lost a fine purple elite USUS yesterday and now (if you have to reroll again) a fine purple elite Santi. Sry but you cant compensate that w some ordinary frigate or purple no trim ordinary Christian, which i never sail anyway and which on selling don't fetch near what I got for the elites ! Not to mention that you can't compensate the fun and thrill involved in the fights and the conversion of the notes. As to your provider problems: Why dont you just move pve server back to the provider you had before. ? -
Hunt/S&D Missions for Elite ships
Jan van Santen replied to Jan van Santen's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
-
Re-Post since this is the proper place for it and to add detail: Right now sinking an elite ship counts just like sinking an ordinary one for the normal hunt/s&d missions. It is however more difficult/takes more time, thus I'd like to suggest elite ships get hunt and s&d missions of their own. The rewards should be better than for normal s&d/hunt, and since elites arent so frequent, they could be grouped with the same grouping as weekly: 6+7; 4+5; 3-1 Eg: Hunt 10 sol 3-1 for a gold chest + a deadmans/event/admirals/captains.... chest.

Thread title says it. Game froze while playing, unable to log in again on PvE server, (Error: login queue request failed) PvP works. Possible cause: moderate thunderstorm over parts of Germany
-
Never had this happen, I open on avg 6 mission + 6 gold chests per day. The stacking issue is what more likely happened. To make sure I see what loot I get: I always open my chests inside the cargo of an Indiaman.

Same here, already posted

I I bought a Rättvisan note from Mortimer pirate den on PvE server this morning. When trying to convert it, I get a message " Item is not a ship template" F11 sent, unfortunately i did not catch the report number Ingame name: same as here. Edit: relog doesnt change anything, i'll try to ship it to an other port next.

Yet another map: Naval Action map
Jan van Santen replied to Felix Victor's topic in Maps - Development forum
Would it be possible to add an indicator for this "improvedCraftChance" to your map ? The swiss officers knife of NA: all you need in 1 place, you just unfold the piece you need- 1,326 replies

RNG Crafting
Jan van Santen replied to Sir David Green's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Provided he gets a permit from an admirals or captains chest, which (except in redeemables after pve sercver rollback) never have appeared on PvE server. Idk about PvP server. So on PvE server the chance to craft an Endy does exist..in theory. Like like the chance of winning the lottery exists. -
Rewards ? Mere waste of time. Boasting rights ? Doesn't come with any. Herc is worthless now, exp and naval clock can be earned way easier and faster than in tutorial. Since PvE content is reduced further w every new patch (crafting, damage model...) the only reasons to do tutorial every now and than are boredom and completionism...

RNG Crafting
Jan van Santen replied to Sir David Green's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Crafting once had more immersion (ship parts), more meaning (better ships) and a fair chance on quality (golden coins) All that needs to be done is a return to that. Now it just feels like dumping expensive ressources into the rng bin. -
I guess we get to test this on testbed ? If so, a) pls test the version that goes life and not bring in major changes after testbed. b) ill rather wait with comments till after testing..since the op doesnt give enough details to base a solid comment on, particularly as I cant figure what it means to pve, were hauling never has been a problem.

Game hangs in "Connecting to login queue" screen" after disconnect and choosing pve server After some time a red msg pops up: "Error: log in queue request failed"

You also had no choice to make the Constitution a ship of the line or the Indefatigable a 4th rate by a software patch. You could only use a saw and create a razee, Hint: NA is not 100% simulation, it has (and should have more) arcade/gaming elements. Consensual PvP (and imho also PvEvP) is a proven success factor and endgame for many predominantly PvE based MMO's. So why not in NA ? I have made the same suggestion on this forums several times since 2016, so i fully support the OP.

This series has meanwhile reached 21 books, everyone of them great reads, on par with Hornblower/Aubrey.Maturin series. He manages to find historic episodes around which he arranges his fictions which the other series left out. Particularly interesting is that Thomas Kydd, the hero of the series, starts as pressed seaman and while working his way up in career and society, always finds himself confronted with his background.

Put the PvP in an instance (arena...) and also some PvPvE like many other sucessfull MMO's (Guild Wars, Runes of Magic, Neverwinter...) did and you have happy players and a commercial success. It's beyond me why large parts of the potential of NA remain unused. Are you saving up for NA2 ??

Getting rare woods
Jan van Santen replied to mikawa's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
This is a huge issue on PvE server: For us N Orleans is perma French, thus nobody else can buy WO by contract/reales. Would be better to shift the wo for reales place to a neutral port ! -
PvE PvP rehashed idea with vigour
Jan van Santen replied to Einarr's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Again, try w/o prejudice...all your posts contain these belitteling expressions....see, thats one of the reasons why mature players (we have many twice your age) dont want to play on PvP server. -
PvE PvP rehashed idea with vigour
Jan van Santen replied to Einarr's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Again try w/o prejudice...or log in and actually check whats going on onPvE server, both in guiding and helping new players (instead of ganking them ...) and in "sitting" outside of port which made me laugh hard. Hint : we can have 8 op's spread over the map for trading and hunting w/o being ganked and we have way more possibilities for op spread, since there are default national ports on PvE server only. As to instanced PvPvE: Guild Wars, (7 Million players) Runes of Magic ($ Million) , Neverwinter (2 Million..) ... I've played all 3 of them and enjoyed the PvP and PvEvP there. Also the concept of a naval history based game and that of hardcore/ganking PvP have but a very small common playerbase. Naval History doesnt interest your avg school to mid 20's aged Hardcore PvPer. And vice versa. If ...the devs aim for a larger and stable playerbase, they need to shift focus away from hardcore and thus away from ganking PvP altogether. The sooner, the better (or release NA 2 or a sp non server version) -
PvE PvP rehashed idea with vigour
Jan van Santen replied to Einarr's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
1) try w/o prejudice ? 2) discussion of your proposal ends for PvE'ers at this point: PvE does not want to sail into forced PvP zones to obtain woods or craft better ships. We also don't want to share toxic chat, alt infested server, ganking and the unpleasant atmosphere. Most of the population of PvE server has bad experiences w PvP and hardly ever goes back again except for cashing in redeemables.... A better suggestion that would also attract at lot more players.: Get rid of forced/ganking PvP and integrate voluntary PvP as endgame into one large PvE/PvP server. Add some PvEvP (instanced port battles for rewards and not actual possession of ports eg).
