  1. Port battle went smooth, w/o any issues, so why rollback in the middle of that ???
  2. Question: afaik the Redoutable can have 36 pdrs. Have 36 pdr rare guns been added to loot ingame ?
  3. Clan size reduction is not the solution. An alternative road to port boni (not involving port ownership) is. Best as part of a general crafting balancing. (More transport and trading, more immersion, less rng)

  5. from my strictly pve point of view: wtb NA retro dlc (early 2017) Why ? Economy was functional, crafting was immersive and 90% rng free. The game catered to all kinds of playing styles w/o forcing players into large nations/clans/alliances (like PB system will do now). Overall: the game was more fun than. What could remain: elite ships What needs to be added: endgame (consensual PvP, achievements, events), ai in patrol zones..... What needs to be balanced most: effort/reward ratio (sealclubbing frigates, running fedex missions and afk trading is way more profteable than hard fights with elite ships) What needs to be removed: Salt, obsolete upgrades, Loki rune....
  6. a) simple math, take the numbers from screenshot.....nuffsaid. I've 9000+ hrs in PvE, i know how to read a boarding screenshot. (and i never heard off or encountered crew reset...) b) lol...sry...just lol. Rum = insurance c) switch to 100 m range , you can do hits enuff even thru bow or stern or with a very small angle. d) it does....it has marines, crew superiority and enough preparation. sry, but everything is clearly visible in your screenshot....tbh: this has happened to me, too in the past...but i didnt blame my own mistake on a bug added: did you check rank of ai captain, tried battle chat ? That ....would actually back your claim of a bug, your screenshot doesn't.
  7. His crew wasn't 500. You had 58 +607 = 665 AI had 233 +372 = 605. (add crew remaining + kills) a) Dont try to board ai with just 10% more crew unless you have a boarding setup b) why didnt you use rum ? c) why didnt you use broadsides ? What happenerd most likely: The moment ai has 1 crew member more than you it starts to counterattack and than looks exactly like your screenshot...
  8. For PvE thats what i posted weeks ago.... Current PB mechanics in short: 30 pt ports: Can be defended, but nobody wants them. (investments are low level and vanish after retake by npcs) 50/55 pt ports: can't be defended (no single nation on PvE can muster 25 players w 1st rates) , but everybody wants them. (the top level of investment which is most expensive vanishes after retake) Result: PvE still gets no decent port boni (investment for just a week or two till next npc retake is way to risky), the entire pb thing as is could simply have been skipped and port boni should be implemented right from start in a way not requiring pb. Nothing changed.
  9. Said it before and will say it again: the PB mechanism as implemented now isn't compatible to PvE server. That was simple logic right from start. In the current mechanism of national alliances nobody could defend any 50 or 55 pt port. Taking a neutral port is relatively easy though...which sooner or later will lead to clan vs clan, nation vs nation....a backdoor to pvp. (there will always be rogues not caring about diplomacy, . Unfortunately everything that can be done within game mechanism will be done ....) As to Pirates: the timer mechanism is taking care of that, the greatest clan on PvE is Pirate and is mainly US based. With maintenance timed to noon Europe, a US clan is sol when it comes to hostility. (I am not a member of that clan, but in close alliance) If i understood it correctly, the current installation of PB is experimental. I can only ask devs to take the am points into consideration. Easiest solution imho: Keep PB as is (or slightly modified) because at least its additional content....and it takes care of bragging rights, adds to meta etc.... but decouple port boni from port ownership. reales = taxes are meaningless on PvE since we can do delivery missions totally riskfree, port boni (and bragging rights ?) are the only interesting point about PB

  11. Toxic community: there is the "ignore " button. As to the suggestion: yes please. The game simply lacks consensual pvp, on which server it should be placed is also plain logics, as on pvp server you cannot sail w/o being attacked at all. PvP server would need 2 changes to make it work: a "leave me alone" flag and consensual pvp. PvE server would need only 1 change: the consensual pvp. So if at all consensual pvp, than it belongs on the pve server. Besides, there is old code for it. Even if I would most likely not join consensual pvp myself, it would bring/keep players on PvE server and thats good for all of us.

  13. Devs won't install PvP on PvE server simply because it means the end of PvP server.... PvE server didnt have exp wipe, so PvP there could happen with a still maxed account wo the need to lvl up against ganking and op nations. Even if one has to lvl up, its a lot easier on PvE server, eg cargo/pass mishs are totally risk free. Thus PvP on PvE server would be a lot easier than PvP on PvP server....aka RIP PvP server . Even more so should they ever deliver clan based port ownership as announced months ago....
  14. Sure...but w/o port bonuses... New content for PvE server ? You cant build a new house on a rotten foundation ! Fix whats broken on PvE first pls, before even thinking of adding more broken stuff (why large clans only ? how would they own a port ? what does port ownership by the 2 (!) large clans mean for the 90% of PvE players who play solo or in 2-5 player clans ?) What needs fixing asap: 1) Number and distribution of AI. Too little, not mixed, in hotspots only, while eg patrol zones are deserted. 2) Roll back to the old "neutral" map. Stops that stupid coastal fire from a french fort when i attack a brit ai... 3) Fix crafting. Less rng. More immersion. Add port bonusses as part of shipyard upgradeing or make elite notes craft ingredients. Port ownership and being attacked by NPC is so contrary to the "Peace" server theme that it drastically changes the game and is thus a valid reason to ask for STEAM refund. 4) fix trading. Fedex missions have killed it, as they are completely riskfree fast doublons and reales. 5) fix the effort/reward imbalance. Sealclubbing 5th rates yields way better and more loot than a hardfought win over a 1st rate elite ??? after having done that and a few minor bugs and imbalances....than and only than should you think about new content (Preferably some that PvE really needs: an endgame (consensual pvp eg)

  16. Those are mostly just by-cargo, loot capped from traders or from bottle wrecks Real trade is indicted by large quantities of most profiteable items. If you find 5 madagascar jewels, it was a bottle, if it's 25 it was by-cargo ( someone ferrying loot and filling the rest of his convoy) if its 50+, than it's real trade And that hardly happens these days.
  17. Nothing about port boni in crafting on PvE server..... Also, before updating anything, pls switch on ai on PvE server again (we have an "empty seas" deja vue recently) and reroll to the old neutral map pls, so that bs of french coastal arty fireing at me when I attack a brit ai stops. Edit: and yes, a) I know the difference between "rerouted" and "empty" and b) I have downloaded the map with ai routes....
  18. The question here is: If you buy a Rättvisan note for 300 cm from admiralty, will it get port boni, too ?
  19. Would it be possible to add the elite ship's loot to the loot table ? Eg: Which rank of ship would drop 24 pdr Blomefields ?
  20. Indeed looting needs a better solution... Historically boats would take prizes, ships would surrender (which crew would suicide and fight until their ship sinks with them ? ) etc. Remove the "x" mechanism , every other way is better than that.
  21. Same issue. Based on the dev statement I built an Indiaman in fighting configuration which now is useless, since slot 4-5 can't be unlocked...
  22. I play PvE because there I can pick the fight. A limited NPC agression will kill that principle of mine (and of many others). Also: Limited NPC agression + coastal fire everywhere = big fail. My homebase eg is in Port de Paix, the moment I leave that i am in crossfire range of coastal batteries. Once I get attacked in that narrow space, i can only run from the frying pan (NPC) into the fire (coastal batteries) You should be very, very carefull with the design, else you loose half the PvE population.
  23. It's getting boring... Always locations in the same 3 or 4 areas (players parking alts there) some of which are way to close to capitals. One just 20 mins sailing from KPR/La Navasse.... Suggestion: get rid of the entire Storm fleet mechanism and include deadmans chests as rare drop into regular bottle wrecks. Fair to all players, more randomization, not timezone or maintenance depending, no problems with rain or visibility..... The drop percentage is simply amount of deadmans chests per month now/ amount of bottle wrecks per month
  24. This, provided the port bonuses don't need Port ownership. Also a return to the old (neutral) map on PvE server. The current system makes the coastal batteries of my own homebase fire if I attack ai outside.....afterwards the locals gladly repair the ships they just tried to kill... And a renewal of the real trade pls. Trade missions have killed the real trading .
