  1. the fire The ship taking penalties on handling when on fire would be excellent balance factor and just remove the fire shock to make it not overwhelming RNG on the fired individual. As for undefended ports you can't really do much about that the map is excessively large and the player base is small so its hard to muster a defense the devs really weren't realistic with world size and player population and time, one has to wonder if they expected people to take this up as a part time job like I was/am doing and its just freaking unhealthy. Also alot of players are just far too squeemish about losses and that's just a reality in any game majority of people will always min max if rules aren't enforced and I hope the devs will buckle down and put many thing in place that encourage engagement and losses if the combat is truly enjoyable and filled with pretty flares people will likely find it acceptable, although I imagine time to find an engagement and losing is a turn off too.
  2. Haha hilarious it's a pirate trade mark to be as offensive as possible. I actively choose to not get into spat matches and behave well and ended up having a somewhat balanced talk with a guy who started like that as i slowly blew his mast away.
  3. totes happy what your clan and all those who tagged with you done but it's not like you can't teleport back to help like i do, sadly now U.S have free reign over louisiana and crafting is going to start getting painful as a result, doable but painful. Although with that area gone us northern folk will have to go back down or come up with a migration plan for another alt area so I look forward to see what happens.
  4. actually during our peak times we could take a freebie, we got enough people up there that can sail rather large ships and craft some suitable deep port ships, but we definitely can't contest them against the U.S i saw their group and that was at like 3 a.m eastern time. I think the french players are going to be forced into the dutch pretty soon unless the pirates choose to stick around for pvp.
  5. You folks are way too melodramatic about this stuff, remember that there's 100's of players maybe 1000's playing on different sides not all of them listen to your silly clan leaders. For all we know and it's very likely it's probably a small band of big ships just taking up ports to make the Caribbean uniformly green, as there is very little else for them to do up there and they obviously don't need the crafting space. They got plenty of other areas where pvp would be rich so ya probably a few guys who just want to complete U.S and some easy ports to practice in, friend of mine saw one just one and sunk the guy with little effort so don't worry and if they do come in a horde pack up or resist.

So he's a bit crude, some corny light roleplay, and sounds like embellishing a bit, I'm assuming he's getting the hate because he's doing a solid job at port defense but is clearly being too loud about it. Well he hasn't polluted the french channels thus far so I guess I still retain that he's good thing for the french team, although I hope people aren't offput by him I haven't seen him be a dick in nation chat. also that bounty thing hahalirarious I bet slamz is loving the infamy/fame
  9. if they don't know him they will trust me, I ask this cause i play the same server as him and I know he's an avid pvper and he's actually putting up a regular fight all the time. I just don't get this weird hate on him seeming how pirates are the ones that chose to swarm us and he's just playing the game I feel like theres more to it. Heck I was in a clan for a little while someone ran off and thanked Slamz sarcastically for god knows what, I for one am impressed with his little resistance group it's hilarious seeing people angry about him. he's the only player whose name I hear being spouted about places, he's going legendary status at this rate. Also the pendulum will probably swing your right and we will get alot of skilled based or determined players in french side so in the long term it will probably be a good thing for us losing all these ports.

  11. this i didn't know I do not think the combat is fleshed out enough to warrant it exclusively I find alot of the fun comes from the virtual world progression through seizure of ports and attaining resources, I do love my management games. Kudos for taking on the bolder task and not falling into that god awful trap like all those f2p like warthunder and world of tanks/ships/planes. That said time compression probably could be boosted and everything else tuned with it (open battle entry times) cause the travel time is waaaaaay too much, this game is exactly like a second job as fun as it is. Also hope you folks also don't throw off the value of having a visual crew based upon nations and themed based interface, as cheap of a buzzword it has become immersion really brings a game to life.
  12. you should do that things are relatively interesting over on pvp2 for the french although I find most of player base to be uninspiring. We actually had one guy in the clan get upset and jump pirates, sometimes i think about it but i found a couple people i enjoy playing with also wheres the challenge in playing a swarm nation. Maybe we will get more players when we get to see french naval uniforms if anyone got class it's the french also that flag is pretty sexy to boot.

I could give or take on the teleport cooldown on one hand i hate being stucked in louisiana for 4 hours that's a normal play time and on the other I don't want the klingon warfleet warping back and forth on us poor french bastards. If any nations going to focus so hard on an area its good to have one of their territories threatened cause of it. So if it does get knocked down it should be for 2 hours minimum actually a better thing to do would make the world teleport and outpost teleport different even better would make a charge or long teleport for freetowns.
  14. could always make it so pirates don't receive bounties then you can't really do that, but yeah bounty systems will always be abused so I say no go. Be nice to still put a "mark" on someone for funsies, make it so you have to pay to do it but no reward for anybody like propaganda beware this man sort of deal. Also Slamz why you getting all the hate on from French players all of a sudden.
  15. So yesterday I was idly chatting in my nation and ended up talking about pirates and a clan leader liked my idea saying I should present it on the forums. Currently pirates behave more like a nation with a FFA rule which is about as piratey they get which most likely won't really mean too much in the daily game. While I do believe I read that pirates are pretty much the eternally war faction, diplomacy has yet to be implemented and when it does it will be kind of unfair for pirates to be pinged on the map getting focused down cause for some reason they decided to wave black flags at every port. Instead of pirates having their own ports they should instead turn ports neutral when they seize them, in a way they'd be acting as the offensive arm of the neutrals. This should play out quite well as it enables pirates to dictate the flow of trade and pretty much put them in stealth mode allowing them to be more piratey. By opening a new neutral port in a resource starved sector they would direct the flow of trade to that port allowing them to snag the various nations traders in the regions trying to pick up whatever it produces iron, fir, live oak, oak, gold, and coal being the more valuable of resources for crafting. So for game and authenticity purposes this should work out quite well by creating a symbiotic relationship between the neutrals and pirates, the two independent minded factions who'd probably are what they are cause they loathe foreign rule and give the pirates at least a sort of kind of alliance with neutral players by having mutual interest.

  17. wouldn't that make them even more ideal cause you'd be encouraged to not float near well manned sturdy ships, sides closing the distance means your not firing cannons but receiving cannon fire so it would balance out. Also you got to remember marines are an upgrade and they sacrifice loading speed, and if you want them in respectable numbers you have to use larger ships which are generally slower.

  19. wait how so, they can be intercepted all the way while sailing but teleporting is teleporting which prevent them from being intercepted along what would've been a risky trip, but OP is right perhaps cargo should be halved if you choose to teleport so you can't cheese the system I imagine long hauls are made outrageously easy and profitable cause it turns into a one way trip.

No no no no that's why I mentioned the quick drop in port battles and no your still free to float around in PVP as well, I just don't see anything that really needs to be added to directly support casual quick plays (that's what i register as casual). Anything that would really benefit people who dedicate to one game at a time and play for longer periods of time would probably by nature benefit the people who be dropping in for a brief hour or two.

There is one though we have the player built ships which are vastly superior to the a.i captured ships, although I do disagree with the high durability on them as that also will cause inflation. It does look like the amount of effort in attaining them is pretty high but eventually people will start outputting them so much that they won't really sell for the amount of effort put into them unless we can provoke players to take risk and actually lose ships. Although I'd liked to have more player influenced actions in the game outside of combat as well, anything I could brainstorm none of it would be casual actually this seems to be a very odd game to choose if you want casual as light simulators like these are for the exact opposite crowd. Anyways I think casual players are getting enough with a whole PVE server for them and port based quick battles vs players and quest to rank yourself up fast I don't think there is really any need to directly support the casual playing crowd that said I have nothing against those people I'm not the "gamer" crowd guy.
  22. Contraband is way too easy of source to profit from and will very likely inflate the economy because it allows players to have near risk free goods of high quality. The contraband traders get no protection from anyone and sail solo, also they are frequented around the players choice nation making them extremely easy to prey upon because low chance of enemies catching you off guard on your raiding. By allowing this to be a source of goods the income for everyone will just spike from not losing ships but getting high quality goods and easy gold by selling the traders off, there really is no real purpose for them to exist other then as an easy cash cow which causes people turtling in friendly waters where raiding should have a risk reward factor. The only thing to hinder this is other players of friendly nation jumping in and stealing what should be a "marked" ship which is just infuriating and should be done away with as I've mentioned on the steam forums.   24. Looking for a french group to join I myself don't speak french and I'm looking for team players and by team I mean France none of this stealing ships from fellow nationals and such, I have a mumble for people to join so we can coordinate and banter as we play.
