  1. You are correct. Maybe the term "simulation" is a bit too strong in relation to NA.
  2. Then maybe the solution is to improve the quick battles format for those that want instant / lots of PvP, rather than dumbing down OW mechanics for those that want immersion and depth? Infinite crew setup in a 4 port arena? I keep harking on about this because this issue is prevalent through all threads pertaining to mechanics vis-a-vis realism and playability. Arcade vs Simulation.
  3. If it's training, then why do you get XP/Gold/lose Dura/cap ship? The PvP in those battles are exactly the same as you'll get in OW, just balanced in terms of team size/BR Either Magnum^ is correct, or people are just generally whining / want the game dumbed down to World of Sailing Warships levels.
  4. I'll ask again; The folks that want to PvP, but have limited time, whats wrong with the small/large battle options under missions tab?
  5. I've been working on a document proposing changes RE the so called "Pirate Problem" for the last two weeks. I'll copy/paste parts here; Captured prizes should also have the option to be sent to outpost. If selected, AI sails ship to the selected outpost in OW. Risk of being intercepted / sunk is realistic.

  8. I'm in agreement with you, but the counter to that is; what else is there to do as a pirate? Commerce raiding is ineffectual. There is no such thing as a strategic resource, No real XP/Gold gain in it either. Killing NPC Traders has no effect on /Nations/economy and is boring as f***, cause the AI is as dumb as a box of rocks. If you do find a poor player trader ship it only impacts that player personally. In short; there is no reason for a Pirate to act like a pirate. So yes, we are left to create our own content.Take the Black away and give us a Portugese/Prussian whatever flag if that will make the other nations feel better :-)

  10. Why not? Just curious. The practice of using Mercenaries has obvious benefits. SORRY's firepower and reach makes them ideal for the job.
  11. Has anybody here played the old Sid Meier / Microprose Pirates!? There is a more up to date version called Pirates Gold on Steam currently. I mention the above because there are a lot of mechanics in that game that I'd like to refer to. Mechanics such as port raiding, economics, Alignment etc. Mechanics that work and would resolve a lot of issues.
  12. Hold on 1 damn minute. How do YOU know he is a crap player? I had the pleasure of PvP'ing with him against Spanish near Victoria and he played as well as most others I've seen PvP in spite of not having voice comms. His decision to not switch was his and his alone. Whatever his reasons were, nobody has held it against him or any of the others that chose not to switch. So please spare us the patronising pity and lame attempt at whiteknighting. "It's cold..." Really?
  13. +1 I think storms should be connected to seasons too, along with prevailing winds. Heavy seas/bad weather should cause damage/loss of cargo/crew.
