  1. The book is a component in the recipe. Crafting consumes the book to create the upgrade.
  2. Just act with honesty and integrity. If you choose a side in a battle the other side is BY DEFAULT your enemy. Doesn't matter if you trade sloppy kisses in the tavern. You shouldn't care who they are. (However if you find that your "ally" is a no-good cheater or notorious Captain Jerkface feel free to excuse yourself if they're bad enough.)
  3. What makes you think regular nations are "fixed in their capital". They can operate out of Free Towns too. Most of my outposts are at Free Towns.
  4. A number of ports do not have a clickable dot, either national or neutral. The PB circles and forts are displayed, but nothing to click on for info.
  5. I'd just like to have fixed senario/composition "lobby" battle events in game that either all players can sign up for, or perhaps a competitive version between nations with some kind of OW RvR effect. The ships would be senario ships appropriate to your rank, with a basic setup and very limited repairs. No mods or knowledge slot nonsense. I bought NA because of the Sea Trials youtubes with a vision of being in huge naval battles, but good battles rarely happen in the open world game because of all the shenanigans.
  6. Nope! You will see whatever flags and paints I dang well want to show you! Except if they bring in fugly "clan flags". Those could have an "out" option.
  7. W I P E as soon as the W-word is rolled out the activity stops and everyone waits
  8. well...I'm not a shark, so I can't help in that area lol. just saying that the primary way to avoid being a seal is joining the seal clubber club
  9. Nobody wants to spend their precious time following other players around instead of playing their own game, and the whole "coast guard" wild goose chase routine is usually a huge waste of time for everyone involved anyway. Seals will generally stay seals. Most players have achieved their ceiling a few hours into their first brig or frigate. The only way to become a shark is to join the sharks in a very time intensive way.
  10. First, to deny them to enemy warship access, second to collect taxes, third because most clans will want their own ports. People can "grind AI" anywhere.
  11. No testing until release? LOL Wipe everything. Cold turkey! Let's finally START testing.
  12. there isn't a "line" if multiple nations can take the smaller ports in the county
  13. With the new RvR changes it's going to be important to be able to select County capitals, all ports in a County, and show the County boundaries again. (if there's a way, I'm not seeing it right now)
  14. That would eliminate the stated intention of "front lines" (which seems to be moving back towards county scale control of the map)
  15. Wouldn't you be able to take the hostility mission for San Juan from the Free Town of La Mona?
  16. It's more like gambling. You can shoot the little balls when the indicator looks like it aligns with the masts, but even with longs the balls tend to go elsewhere than indicated. Then you try to guess how much to compensate and the next ball flies off in a different direction. If you get lucky or commit to it long enough perhaps enough pixel balls will hit to Win The Jackpot. Or maybe you just end up looking foolish.
  17. It takes me at least 15 minutes, but usually longer, to capture an LGV with a 5th Rate. 🤔
  18. Instant DLC "just add water!" ships have blown up any likelihood of creating a real economy in the game.
  19. The time they deployed a dead Charlton Heston in a battle, and he won.
