  1. YMMV That stuff doesn't interest me. I just want to be part of fun fleet battles, and cruise around enjoying a bit of scenery.
  2. Because those are the fun ones. The hugely unbalanced "battles" are a waste of time.
  3. Given the game's emphasis on manouvering like a jetboat, that seems unlikely. Probably the only thing that would make people use battle sails is elminating Rig Repairs and/or having the lower sails catch fire a lot.
  4. An alternative goal/achievement based rank ladder, alongside normal XP-based rank ladder, could indeed be interesting. It would have to be well thought-out and designed to prevent easy exploitation/metacrap/altabuse/farming.

  6. If you play something like Assault Squad 2 in multiplayer both sides have to actually log in and set things up to ever HAVE a battle. The PB timers increase the chance there will actually be a battle, instead of 20 minutes sailing around in an empty instance admiring the view of town. (only a chance mind you, since most of us have numerous meatspace commitments) Nevertheless the singular port battle model leaves a lot to be desired because even WITH the timers few players will be available to participate...I'd like to see RvR as prolonged OW campaigns of some sort, but it would take some deep thinking
  7. Nah, after seeing some of the silly port bonus superships people are avoiding PvP.
  8. I used to do shifts at an observatory where the dome/building rotated to get ahead of the target source roughly every 2 minutes. Even though it was only about 2-4 weeks a year, for almost a decade after that I frequently felt the same phantom sensation of the building turning under my feet anywhere I was.
  9. That's a dismissal, not a solution. A proper solution would be a less poorly designed join system.

  11. Fleets are vastly more fun than duels. Make it clan fleets
  12. Tactical and strategic decision == log out until 15 minutes before server restart for safe port launch/landing, then spam login button to be first player back in after restart lol.
  13. Slow? It's nimble. It has plenty of guns, though they're wonky to use because of the weird decision in this game's aiming system to prioritize the partial top decks instead of the main gun deck. It's also purty.
  14. You tend to find the books in shipwrecks. Then you craft a nice upgrade and enjoy it while you can. It's a special treat, not something you'll rely on for every ship you own. Besides, what else are you going to do with your 3rd or 5th Saltpeter book anyway?
