  1. Hi I've been away for over 2 years and as I expected there was a wipe at release. I recall that we were going to keep our captain rank and crafting rank but while I seem to still have my Admiral rank my crafting is rank just 7. It used to be maxed (I used to make a ton of top end ships for the pve server, I think I may have even been the first to max crafting). Was there a rebalance of the XP rate, has there been a bug with my account or am I misremembering?
Also wanted to check if there was any further compensation/redeemables given as I seem to have my Yacht and a Pandora (That was a nice surprise) but no cash or anything further. No biggie if not, I'll find my feet soon enough regardless but I wanted to ask in case I was missing something.

  2. Agree 1544 is nowhere near enough. I even put up a suggestion a few days ago regarding this but specifically on the PvE server where NPC's are our content. Some spots on the world have enough for example around Spanish town but other areas are totally devoid. Please increase the number of NPC fleets by a large number and by a lot on the PvE server. If you want to get people to stop doing missions all the time the open seas should be full of varied targets

  3. I know that on the PvP server many folks don't want too many NPC's about as it gets in the way of PvP but could we please get a greatly increased number of NPCs on the PvE server. Open seas hunting is fun but there really isn't the density of fleets needed to support this type of play. It often takes ages to find a fleet suitable for your current ship or group. Would it be possible to just simply make the server spawn like 5x the number of npc fleets to get the target density up a bit? Many parts of the map are totally devoid of npc's to kill or trade ships to plunder

first lvl missions should just be BC vs BC so they can learn

Many people have found it hard to hit the cutter when starting out what with the low profile and big waves. I'm assuming that the reason they put in the rookie snow and brig was to give new players larger targets to hit. They do need a tune down though as they're pretty tough for newbies to beat, maybe a few less guns would be enough of a tweak.

  5. I was talking to some friends about the game with the intention of getting them to play with me. They'd heard of the game and were interested in sailing but werent keen on PvP so had given it a miss. They didn't realise that it wasn't a PvP only game until I told them.

I was just looking over the games description in the steam store and it dawned on me that no where does it mention that there is a PvE server. The description mentions the games hardcore elements, combat, open world gameplay and the player reviews below talk a lot about ganking and pvp. I think this could be discouraging some potential buyers from even trying the game.

I know the main focus is on the PvP experience and the two servers that support that ruleset but I think it should be made clear in the first paragraph of the games description that there is a PvE experience available for those people that want a less confrontational naval game set in the age of sail. The lower numbers on the PvE server may not be because its not popular but because potential buyers don't know about it. The PvE server is only mentioned quite far down the page on the http://www.navalaction.com homepage. I think it should also be mentioned on Steam.

  6. I also think the amount of grind does need adjusting a bit. It's good to have to work for things but I think there's a bit too much work and not enough fun with many of the systems. The game was a little too easy last year but now it seems to have gone the other way. Especially at the start. Getting out of a cutter is a real drag. Nothing that can't be tweaked though.

I like Krumpf's suggestion. Funnily enough someone else mentioned the same idea to me earlier in-game.

  7. I've started getting this issue since the latest patch, never had it before. I run a 3 screen setup, haven't changed anything on my system from before but now the mouse isn't 'trapped' to the window as a result combat is really frustrating. I usually run the game windowed so tried it out in full screen to see if it would help but sadly it didnt.

  8. I like your crafting suggestions. As a player that really enjoyed the crafting/econ side of games I wholeheartedly agree with what you've posted. The current system is just frustrating and not engaging for someone like me that wants to do econ 80% of the time. More choices and flexibility would be fantastic.

The current system though seems to be designed more around players that want to dabble a bit in crafting but spend most of their time out pvping. That's fine if you're that sort of player but for those of us that like to make stuff or don't pvp it's pretty frustrating only having a few clicks every couple of days as our crafting fix. I don't think they're going to change it though.

I can't comment though on the port battle stuff as I play on the PvE server.

  9. The main problem I see with the labour hours system is that it tries to force a supply chain into the game but doesn't take into account the psychology of crafters. It takes multiple accounts to supply a ship builder but most crafters will want to be the one making the ships. No one becomes renowned for making planks, notes and gun carriages. There are a few that seem content to make parts but they're a tiny minority, most folks I've met fall into two camps; I want to make ships or I hate crafting and won't do it.

When the game first launched I had a few folks happy to make parts to sell to me but they all either quit or moved on to making ships themselves. This lead to me buying multiple accounts so I could feed my shipyard and I know many other players that did the same. That's all well and good for the games funding but I think it's a sign of a flaw in the system. Out of the 20 players in my clan they're almost all making ships, some with multiple accounts. A few make notes and no one is interested in making parts, it's just not an interesting role.

While I understand what they're trying to do with the labour system I don't think it worked very well in PotBS and don't have an easy solution to the problem but I don't think crafting hours as a commodity will solve it.

  10. I don't think you'll get much support for a limit but I'd also prefer open seas hunting to be improved so its the better option.

Rather than limiting missions I think they should look at why everyone is mission hopping and fix that. In my opinion it's currently pretty hit and miss as to how long you'll need to sail to find a rank equivalent target or decent fleet for your current group makeup. On top of this the longer you sail looking for targets the harder it is for friends to catch up and join you as you've got further and further from port. Missions are just easy pick up and play content where you have at least some guarantee of some action in a reasonable time frame.

  11. The issue with the market prices atm is largely down to artificial constants. Constrained resource supply and limited labour hours. Once we get the port buildings that'll ease up the resource supply somewhat and should lead to at least slightly lower prices though this depends on how much inflation has already got into the market. Labour hours are likely to be the main factor affecting the pricing going forward, unless they change that system as well.

  12. I didn't see any mention of the small crafting notes for small ships and modules. I'm still wondering if they're planned for this upcoming patch. Currently price of notes is still rising (35-38K in PvE server atm) and it's making the price of small ships and upgrades rather silly. I've just hit lvl 40 crafting so starting to make mastercrafted upgrades.  Modules costing a mere 6K of materials are taking 105K for notes to Mastercraft them, the ratios seem a bit out of balance.

  13. Well right now its so boring i hardly ever login and this is a problem for the game as a whole This game is worse then Archeage with its labour and that's saying something.

I have random people asking me for ships plus my clan plus the enemy Everyone wants ships but I am unable to build them

And just sitting here is SOOOOO boring even gathering the mats is more entertaining.

    Please fix this....

I also see not a lot of people care about this topic but whine when they have to wait 3 days for a ship and by the time i can craft it there already in the next ship and want that one now and its like Welp you have to wait again.....

Then there in the next ship and at this point its like F*** it. talk to me when you need a triny or something.

The weird thing is i like the RNG or ship BP's btw

Yeah I hear you. I was the first in my nation on the PvE server to get the Trinc BP and within a few minutes I had 10 orders. That's 10 days of just waiting on hours for the same ship. I had to close off my queue and stop taking orders or it would get out of hand. I still get 2-3 orders a day I need to turn down. After a week folks on my wait list started asking for connies and 3rd rates but I couldn't even start to look at those as I was still working on Trincs so hadn't discovered the BP for the 3rd rate yet. I love crafting, setting up deals and making things that people want so atm it's pretty frustrating that there isn't anything I can do to improve the process and crafting is simply watching the hours slowly accrue. Port buildings might help a bit with the addition of shipyards but I'm not sure yet what that'll entail. Hopefully it'll also involve more crafting game play and not just more waiting.
