Caracas has copper ingots and is Dutch just sail there and start buying.

I'd like to add to that. Currently there are 3 ports only which drops copper ingots. 2 Russian, and yes the Dutch one.

I totally agree with the idea that copper should be limited to some extend. But in truth if you're not Dutch or Russian you have absolutely no way to get Copper (I guess except maybe seal bottles loot RNG and AI trader cargo RNG?). I tried sailing there, there are player contracts for copper and even after Maintenance, the contracts are automatically fullfiled (i thought contracts for resources could only be filled by players and not automatically by the town resource drops). So as a player of another faction, that means there's no way to gather certain resources for some of the bests and significants upgrades of the game - even if he is willing to do the effort of long sailing time and put up with the dangers of being a trader in enemy water.

I just think that it starts adding up to the port bonus situation.

  2. If not, well, some can leave bad comments on steam for example, potential new players will read the bad comments, and decide not to buy that game.

At this moment, the game will lose money indeed because if the gameplay was more "open" or "casual friendly", they would have paid for it.

Arguably this kind of Doomsday comments are mostly proven wrong... People are able to form their own opinions quite effectively. Those who can't may simply not be the type of people interested in a game like this anyway. Just saying, you are entitled to your opinion but reading such comments is tiresome. And you can voice them in a better manner...

  3. I really like this idea, I'm new to the game and actually thought I heard this was implemented in the game in a video on youtube. I understood wrong :P

I think the point of the game is not only PVP/PVE but also about sailing. So in that sense the gameplay around it would be interested. You'd have to divert course or not and reach a certain "safe" point on the map that lets you back on the OW. It wouldn't have to be for 30mins necessary. You could aslo divert courses on the OW to avoid the storm totally, that could mean a longer travel time but no risk to your ship... An interesting tradeoff maybe?

Just my 2 cents, for what it's worth :)
