  1. Bouncing rounds is entirely possible. Sadly this has gotten a little bit dangerous sicne November as a single bow pen can now cost you 20-30 crew meaning steering slightly angled towards another ship be it AI or a player can either work extremely well or cost you half your crew...
  2. Denmark declared war on Spain once and forgot about it for quite a few years
  3. Scuttling even with help (aka a complaint isn't filed by the person fired upon) is allowed!!!
  4. 100% agree. Also please bear in mind that unless you did nothing but trader cutter crafting it took several months to reach lvl 50 even before the patch. Honestly I don't see any new player rising through the crafting ranks under the current mechanic.
  5. Contracts were heavily abused sadly. Especially KPR would see people sail in during underpopulated times and placing contracts invalidating others by significant margins. I.e. Conquest marks were usually bought for somewhere between 10k-15k until some pirate sailed into port and started buying them for 50k. This then either forces the nation to supply an enemy or to completely shift the usual prices into the ridiculous range. I really don't want to return to that as alts are already making the markets a hassle at times Realistically speaking a smuggler should get in and out of port without much notice of him being there. You can't really place contracts on a respectable market when you fly the wrong flag. I could however support this as a feature for the smaller nations ports so they can be supplies. Otherwise a max/min mechanic needs to be implemented that keeps the prices within reasonable limits should this return.
  6. I don't agree with the evenly spread thing. There can be days without any encounter in a region. I sailed along the coast line from Cartagena de Indias to Concepcion and saw a single fleet (way out of my league sadly). The presence and routes of NPCs apepar to be completely random or at least I was unable to ever detect a pattern I could hunt by... On top of that the randomness of what is being encountered can still mean that attacking is not an option.
  7. So like the Spanish (aka Dave) or the Aztecs - what are we aiming for here? I mean Im a Brit but that line keeps cracking me up Sorry @Hodo I shouldve read the thread. Didn't actually know you already went for that one...
  8. Yes please. The AI seems to always go into the wind when they are about to die and even in small boats it is annoying to hurry back. In the big ones it is just painful.
  9. Snoopy already put up the numbers of 3rd rates nearly equalling 5th rates at that time. The only reason they were mostly in Europe was due to the blockades otehrwise there wouldve been more in teh Carribbean but yeah people with frigates bitched enough to get this pushed. My point is that the current iteration is still not gonna 'fix the problem'.
  10. Don't think we shoudl fight with pirates and french making deals but sure thing. Also please add DOGZ for the list of clans!
  11. hello kitty off with that idea of my time or the server should be shut down - seriously hello kitty off. If you can't support a global palyerbase you ahve no right to call on the global playerbase!!!
  12. Honestly you guys are all individuals who aren't into lineships. Every single nation is working on them whether they actually have players who enjoy them or not. There is no denying that. As long as so many Lineship ports exist Lineships will continue to be built no matter the grind or the joy. The Spanish jsut didn't have a clue how to deal with fireships. Good first rate fleets can deal with them quite well - just look at the hudnreds of port battles where fireships barely managed to disturbe the formation but didn't actually do any significant dmg. @Gizbo I ain't crying. I love SOLs and in my mind there could be hundreds around but thats not what people want so I am thinking of ways to actually make them rare.
  13. I highly doubt that would work. For example in the current state of Britain vs Spain there is no way the Brits would work for the Spanish. At best they wouldn't play at worst they would do whatever the hell they want thereby disturbing the organised war effort.
  14. As with every patch everybody is grinding for Lineships. As I understood it this patch was supposed to lower the lineship presence. Now setting aside my take on the lineship presence in the first place ( @Snoopy has presented the numbers more then once) I think the current take/solution is heavily flawed and will change absolutely nothing except introducing grind pain into the game. There are several resons for this: Lineships are able to tag everything while being the best protection against attacks as well (not counting speed (which has been capped)). Lineships are required for most of the ports or provide a massive advantage as screening ships. Lineships vs an unprepared nations ships are pratically undefeatable in any kind of meaningful combat (they are probably not traveling alone). This can easily be seen in Spain vs Brits where the few Agas wont even try to leave port against the Ocean fleet.(this is no whine - it is however a fact) Lineships remain the best money grinders when it comes to PvE combat which in the current economy is a near must have. These things result in every nerf of the ships or increase of grind merely delaying the arrival of those ships. The losses even when extreme are still being ignored as in the end the need and gain is too extreme to disregard. Currently every single nation is grinding money, mats and marks for the lone purpose of getting a lineship fleet up and running. Possible solutions: To reduce the RvR importance of SOLs the amount of 1st Rate ports needs to be heavily cut. It is no surprise that every nation yearns for 1st Rates if every second port is a 1st Rate port. I'd suggest a lot of these ports to be replaced by 4th rate ports and maybe introduce a new 5th rate port as well. These should be the main activity. This is probably the biggest problem and the main reason nothing changes about SOLs. There needs to be a downward tagging limit as to decrease the effectiveness of SOLs in screening activities. I am not sure as to the possibilities here but the simplest choice would be SOLs can only tag other SOLs (join rules on other battles and counter attacks would be a problem here hence why I am unsure). This would fix the same meaning a lineship fleet wouldn't immediately create such a heavy imbalance. I genuinely think there still needs to be a reason to take out SOLs so PvE should remain untouched. However loading traders with decent goods mroe reliably and therefore making the fast boarders more useful would surely help to balance this a bit. Using my or other people's solutions would lead to a decrease in SOLs in RVR (quite heavily) and a light icnrease of SOLs on the open world while still keeping them playable for thsoe that enjoy them. As it stands no grind will fix the SOL problem as in the end they are not optional. Feel free to add other possible solutions (not taking line ships out - me and others like playing them^^) down below or post your take on this. Please remember to keep the discussion easy and light hearted. Cheers Jolly/Salty
  15. I know right - it is seriously getting to that point where leaving the port is so risky that once I have a mil I'm just gonna retire
  16. Lol sorry guys I thought I was in the NA forum This mixed forum thing is confusing me
  17. nope - I suggest a lot of youtube, ingame chat for questions and some dedication to figure it all out. Once you got a few rounds in you might consider joining a clan it is kinda necessary in this game but the guys in tehre will probably help you a lot as well. NEVERMIND ALL THIS I AM AN IDIOT
  18. Dude right away get of the zerging idea. We could ahve a thousand players and still only 5% would be into serious RvR. The only zerg that ever works is defending Jamaica cause every landlubber idiot shows up to screen and fight. Everywhere else RvR guys are on their own.
  19. Already sent an F11 hwoever just to make sure this reaches the devs. Since the update pressing X after a successful boarding (yes the whole press X thing is on the screen) yields no results for me. That means the cargo can't be inspected/taken and the ship not be sunk which means all the time spent was wasted and resources/marks were lost. Please fix this asap!!!
  20. I really don't give a hello kitty cause Im on Global Spain wasn't zerged. I never said that. And I never will as its a bullshit statement. Spain was however reduced to its ports around La Havana. And to this day I(and quite a few in teh British nation) maintain it was unnecessary and bad for the game. Never said anything else. I pointed this out to prove that nations can't be defeated fully. It isn't possible. But as usual you choose only what you want to hear instead of actually reading my statement.
  21. it could stay at the current port attack limits but I would still split the regions to... have more opportunities for marks and a better distribution for the nations. slow down the march of nations. Currently with the loss of a single port 8 ports can fall in some regions. This means that the travel time of 30-45mins is going down in a single battle. Especially those that don't log in daily suddenly find themselves under threat or 2 regions (aka 1 hour sail) behind the rest of the nation.
  22. Not the worst idea but simply stop introducing more sinks. Money sinks x10, time sinks and now xp sinks. We and especially time limited players lose so much I'll make a profit from not leaving port soon.
  23. Brits will never bend their knee. Not like you could actually win this game. One porting a nation means killing their playerbase but they remain undefeated as you cannot kick them out of the Carribbean. How many times ahve the Spanish refused to be called defeated although stuck in 1-2 regions. This game cannot be one and all one porting does is kill the playerbase. But ahve fun being the big cheese. Nobody cares.
