  1. Don't leave, there will be changes and a port wipe. Let's learn and make changes.

    Exodus

Under a cool Caribbean winter breeze, the Hadrian slid easily into her mooring under the guns of Morro Castle, the massive fortification protecting the harbor of Havana. Captain Davidson nodded at the seaman manning the capstan, pleased with this show of seamanship. He was sure the Governor-General was watching. Relocating to the tropical shores of Havana and beginning service under new Spanish masters had been an easy sell on the crew and officers, many of whom had yet to see a single penny of prize money enter their hands. The Spanish terms were generous enough to reconcile even the most fervent nationalist on board the Hadrian. The Hadrian had spent the last two weeks surveying the southern Cuban coast, taking soundings at likely retreats and rally points in preparation for the commerce raiding the Governor-General was sure to assign them. Captain Davidson straightened his cravat, gathered his logs, and called for a boat. He would present the findings in person and receive his sealed orders in the luxury of the Governor-General's quarters. Evening found Captain Davidson on the quarterdeck and the Hadrian underway, rounding the point into the Bahia de la Habana. He snatched a quick look at the binnacle before sniffing the wind and nodding to the helmsman. The Hadrian's yards came round as he set sail to the west under fair skies.
  3. I switched to Spain tonight, seems like a much more mature atmosphere at first blush. US general chat was.....interesting.

    Exodus

A small speck danced across the whitecapped waves of Savannah harbor. The officer of the watch spotted it first amongst white spray whipped up from the nor'easterly gale that had been blowing since the night before. The little boat was in no small peril, but the ship was safe enough, despite the strains of the mooring lines and the few inches of bilge water that had to be pumped out every few hours. All in all, the United States privateer Hadrian was a well kept ship. The officer shielded his eyes from he spray to get a better look at what approached. It was a small boat, rowed by hardy longshoremen, bounding across the waves from the port at Savannah. The officer shared a knowing look with the rest of the port side watch, this particular message must be important. Captain Matthew Davidson, stared into the wind swept sea from his sea cabin for a few moments before returning to the last few lines in the letter. "Regrettably sir, with the political situation well in hand, the US Naval Department no longer requires your services and releases the Hadrian to regular commercial duties. Your letter of marque is hereby revoked upon receipt of this letter." So that was it. The ship was to be paid off and the hands returned to merchant sailing if they were lucky. If they couldn't find a merchant berth, a cold winter with half pay. The odds were against them. With several privateers being paid off, the lines at Merchant Hall would be filled with eager applicants. As for him, the end was scarcely more dire. Without sponsorship, and the maintenance funds they represented, his ship would need to be laid up in ordinary and Captain Davidson returned to civilian life. This was not the end he had imagined for him and his crew. He had sold these men on a life of adventure and prize money, lured them from merchant berths across the eastern seaboard. And now, with the receipt of this letter, he had failed them. There had to be another way. He returned the letter to the desk and withdrew a blank page from his small desk. He dabbed a quill, then set it down as he walked firmly to the cabin door, peeking his head out at the seaman stationed there. "Pass the word for Lieutenant Haverly, and send my regards to the sailing master and have him prepare to sail the instant we can weather the spit." Sitting back down at the blank page he began to compose the only message that could save this day. Grand Marquis Alvarez, Governor-General of Cuba The Captain and crew of the Hadrian, a 24-gun frigate late of the United States, send their warm regards and hereby place ourselves at your disposal. We are currently....
  5. Looked through this forum and only saw one. Are there any active Spanish guilds on PVP2? Preferably ones that also speak English? I'm game to try my Spanish, but I imagine it will be difficult to have me in fleet for a few months
  6. Great patch guys, really looking forward to it! I need more to do as Captain, the crew management bit looks promising!
  7. I'm giving serious thought to joining Spain, theres a few of us who agree with you.
  8. Just to confirm, only combat XP get shifted, not crafting XP
  9. Well that is no good, I was wondering why all the ships were still on the PvE when I swapped to PVP. Any way we can get them across the servers, still single use?
  10. I agree that we should have finite amounts of ammunition for the following reasons: 1) It requires the player to plan for long voyages 2) It will increase port activity, as players return to replenish 3) If craftable, it will provide for a richer economy experience I am firmly against "magic ammo" and would prefer to keep what we have.
