  1. I liked the post but it was because of the 2nd statement in it...... but that last paragraph is fantasy world material for sure lol. Leveling through PVP alone would take about 4-5x the time.

Sure but 10x the fun, I Solo/small group PVP'ed in my snow, then in my surprise, then trinco up to connie. I don't even want a 1st rate. 2-3 guys in privateer is a deadly pvp group and it's so much more fun than sitting in a line battle with a rated ship.

People are way to focused on ''Omg I -Need- the biggest ship!'' And they don't bother trying to find ways to enjoy every rate of ships in the game.

If you're the kind that absolutely need a first rate and you need it yesterday, sure it'll be grindy. But it's definitely a choice, it's not forced up on you.

  2. Make a deal with the british royal navy taking 3 Jamaica ports then give them back to brits so the british can set the timer again.

So the answer to this question is very simple :

1 FTS leader is the most incompetant person that can even organize the defense of the port they took

    or

2° He made a deal with the british navy and deliberate let the british took those ports back and set the timer on those ports that allow them to have free hands to launch massive invasions again.

We assaulted the three ports with about 90 people and tagged most defenders on outside battles, this was not a planned port flip but a crushing tactical victory from the British side.

  3. Don't blame it on others, it's 100% your fault. You take cheap cheese and wave it around, what do you expect? Praise for being able to waste peoples time?

Don't get me wrong - going for a bit of cheese is fine, we all do it from time to time. And we all know perfectly how it feels to be stuck against that cheese. It's not fun, I know it, you know it, don't pretend otherwise. So when you take that cheese and push it onto forums as propaganda, don't expect anyone to be friendly. And this is because you are neither funny nor friendly.

    Lessons to learn, huh?

    1) The only way it can be 100% my fault is if i'd be the only poster in the thread, which I am not. So others share the blame.

    2) Where did I waste anyone's time? Sorry I made you click on a thread and read it.

    3) Too many people take this way to seriously. 2 cutters capturing a trinco might not be friendly but it certainly is funny. You'd laugh if you captured me in a trinco with 2 cutters.

    4) I might have learned a lesson that these forums can't handle a bit of fun, but you should look at yourself and try to learn some too, this is a game and people take everything on here way too seriously.

  4. Courageous British captains engage French ship and take it as a prize.

Combined force of 2 cutters armed with 4 pounders, along with an unarmed cutter engage French Trincomalee frigate and take it as a prize.
Courageous unarmed cutter sinks, all british sailors recovered from the sea unharmed.

Did the French bite off more than they can chew by declaring war?

  5. I am quite shocked of what I am reading here.

1.- Who atacked who exactly? You wanted to befriend Spain by taking all their ports?

2.-Who decides what is reasonable for other nations? The Stronger one?

3.- Please press "M" and tell me what kind of benefit did Spain get from traying to ally with Britain.

4.- You have the power to destroy us? You have the power to take our ports. Destroying us is a completly diferent think. And no, you dont have the power to do so.

5.- At this point both parts think they have been backstabed. Dont think your point of view is the only "real/valid" one.

6.- The "hilarious" demands made were quite accurate taking into account the people playing as Spanish at that point. Dont laugh at others and spect to be respected by them.

7.- Britain didnt help Spain against the US. We helped each other. Thats how treaties should be.

8.- Now we are reaping what we sowed? I thought the whole server (but the americans) is at war with britain atm. Looks like we are not the only ones who sowed.

9.- Diplomacy without an implemented system ingame is going to be hard (to say it with a polite word). Please dont make it harder with statements that only show ignorance about how things have happened.

Regarding the different diplos. You may be right there.

I only talked as Diplo when I was voted for that job. I allway made clear who I was representing. If someone else is coming to you (british) at this point I can asure you he is not representing Spain as a nation.

You are right there, but for your information that problem happened to some extent with Brits also. (As I said it is going to be hard to have an efective diplo system without implementing somthing ingame)

I still think Britain and Spain should be natural allies, but that is not going to happen anytime soon. Lets play smart and learn from our mistakes since both sides have made a few.

    Gaizka

    1) There are multiple narratives to that story, RAE broke their treaty with SLRN and attack south cuba while we were busy with the pirates at Les Gonaives. I cannot speak for other clan's situations.

    2) Nations should accept that their port amount should be relative to their fraction of the playerbase (Reasonable demands would dictate that if you have 10% of the playerbase, then you should be able to hold 10% of the ports, demanding more under threat of war is excessive)

    3) Again, the current map situation doesn't reflect the situation when we were allied, right now we are not and that's what the map shows.

    4) I meant the power to take your ports, My intentions are not to wipe the spanish players and chase them off of their nations, I personally have not taken part into 1 PB against spain, i'm only talking as a general british player.

    5) I agree, some of spain feel they got backstabbed by britain because SLRN cannot force all of the british to agree to their diplomacy (which is alright, i'm not saying otherwise). Some players feel they got backstabbed by the spanish because of the same reasons.

    6) I have heard many different diplo talks, some of which were very reasonable, others which were the ones i'm referring to as ''hillarious'' I don't mean to offend whoever was part of the reasonable ones.

    7) US didn't attack britain, we were busy on another front, and we came by to help take US ports, which eventually led to us losing haiti.

    8) Sweden, US, VP are all neutral with most of britain as far as I know. Pirates and Danes have been stopped in their advance, Spain is in no position to push into what we consider ''our'' territory we'll see what the french declaration of war changes in due time :)

    9) I agree a diplo system is required if we want clans to fall in line and respect the majority's view on diplo. I'm sorry if you felt my comments were ignorant but i was replying to someone acting far more ignorant (Maturin's posts)

I hope we'll be back to our neutral/allied state soon enough, but I'm curious to see how that will be achieved with the current mechanics. I think the clans that attack spain (read: not me) have shown what they wanted to show and it's time for cessation of hostilities, but that is of course, my own opinion and might not be shared.

Again, I'm not a diplomat and i'm only sharing my personal view of the situation as a single player.

  6. It surely doesn't mimic history, gladly, but having a strong startup based in history is okay.

Main issue is the "nationalism" but that is a silly player issue in a global village.

When the main internal diplomacy thread of a nation is dealt in the REAL WORLD nation language without concern for the international game nation player base you know that nation is doomed.

Having a strong startup is actually a huge disadvantage, as you cannot set a timer on ports you start with. This is one of the reason of spain's downfall.

  7. After MONTHS of the British taking Spanish ports under the guise of an 'alliance.' Ports which were never given back, but just dangled in negotiations.

Britain behaved from day one like the U.S. government ripping up treaties with the indians. Never have I seen an alliance that involves ceding half your territory, then receiving zero support. And yet somehow the Spanish are the backstabbing villains for trying to retake their own ports.

The main issue is that spain starts with an extremely large amount of ports and they expected to keep them, or to keep ports based on history. If they have 10% of the playerbase, they only deserve 10% of the ports, and they are not entitled to any one more. Britain conquered a lot of US ports with intentions to flip them back to Spain, but spain launched a suprise attack on Britain before the final agreements of which and when they would be ceded. Surely after they told us to f*** off and attacked us you didn't expect us to continue with the motion of ceding ports.

They did a similar thing with/against the US.

Spain needs to take a step back, realize that they'll never hold the amounts of ports that real life spain did, and they'll never hold their historical ports, because this is not a game based on history. They need to work with the neighboring nations and accept that fact and the sooner they'll do that the sooner they have a chance of being prosperous.

You say it as if the british have been attacking spain for a long time, yet the game has barely been out for two months. The first of which initial borders were drawn, and the second of it where british clans helped spain vs the US, and then responded to a foolish spanish attack.

The real solution here is a map wipe where all nations start with only their capital, and everything else is neutral, so that fake borders can be drawn and people stop trying to rely on history of another world.

  8. So you are suggesting that Spain is unreasonable for not signing away its territory? And the other nations regards this as negative characteristic?

I can discern two political values here:

    1. You believe that larger factions have a right to conquer smaller ones, and that the smaller factions should be grateful for any amount of mercy or restraint
    2. If your own faction was under threat by a more powerful foe, you would roll over and lick your conqueror's boot, just to keep your precious gold ports

Simultaneously out-of-control imperial chauvinism and a preference for gutless servility and appeasement. The British and Americans evoke the former and heap scorn on Spain for not exhibiting the latter.

Most if not all or the British captains want spain to be a nation like when we were allied with them, but their actions (or the actions or some clans in their nation) made it so that if we let them be they'd backstab us, with the balance of power at the time, destroying most of their nation was a far easier task for us than dealing with their hilarious demands.

They seized the opportunity to attack us and broke diplomacy when the pirates started making a push in Haiti along with the Danes, now they are reaping what they sowed.

We don't think we have a ''right'' to conquer smaller nations, but we believe nation size should be balanced by amount of players and what they can reasonably, not by some untenable historical position, we tried helping Spain when the Americans attacked it. We don't have the ''right'' to vassalize them but we sure have the power to destroy them if they backstab us and tell us to f*** off.

If they want to negotiate and make peace i'm the sure diplomats on the british side will hear them, but they need to make reasonable demands and until then well our west flank is pretty darn secure.

  9. i would recommend that the flag carrier, when buying the flag, have the following options available at puchase:

    1. Public Flag (standard cost, anybody can join - basically current flag mechanics)

    2. Clan Flag (costs 100k more - only members of that clan can join the battle)

    3. Private Flag (costs 200k more - only people invited by the flag carrier can join via a special  PB 25 man group invite UI)

I agree with this, furthermore i think at any time, the flag carrier should be able to right click the flag and downgrade it, for example, you bought a private flag and you want to make it public, but not the other way around.

  10. I don't believe "bug" is the correct term to be used here.

Good positioning is all important when attempting to aboard the adversaire, what you are experiencing is an attempt by the enemy to escape a difficult and perilous situation.

Happens rarely in my experience so I would consider it a feature and a very good addition to enhance gameplay, not a bug.

May need fine tuning but all in all works very well, imho !

I'm not sure you understand what i'm talking about here. Often when you're boarding someone it will pull both ships alongside each other, and then as soon as the screen pops up one of the two ships drifts slowly away as if it's been cut off of the other, and the boarding gets auto-interrupted because of the distance. There is no skill or decision process involved. I'm not saying the pulling gets interrupted (that's fine) but the actual boarding combat.

Either making it so pulling lasts until both ship reach 0 knots, or that the pulling keeps pulling until boarding is over.

Graples are NOT cut when people jump on the enemy ship. This is clearly a bug, if it's a feature i'll eat my hat.

  11. You don't require that much clan backing to craft effectively. A player I know if crafting SOLs, and he got there on his own with little backing from other players.

Why is the line drawn at 3rd rates? Can someone explain that? Why not let everyone capture victories then? Why could we capture pavels before but it got removed, but removing 3rds would be favoring the elitists?

Right now port battles are a joke, any fleet can field 25 captured third rates and they don't give a shit about losing them.
