  1. Not claiming it is easy, I am hoping that it is a priority though. Jumping to the other side of the region is exactly how EvE jump gates operate. Is it perfect? By no means, but it achieves the goal of getting everyone on one server. As I saw PotBS go this multiple server route which absolutely killed its initial launch momentum. Therefore the megashard concept is worth sacrifices to achieve.
  2. Not necessarily, environmental anomalies (weather effects) could separate the regions or even just implementing particularly dense fog of war when approaching the boundaries. At the end of the day immersion is important, but game-play and entertainment should be the priority. Diluting the populations with multiple servers with such a huge OS map will directly effect game-play.
  3. Do you guys have a long term plan to allow the community to exist on one megashard or was it always the plan to cap server pops at around 2000 people and have multiple servers? As I had been hoping, given the massive map size that the PvP community would be allowed to concentrate on one server. Would it be possible to establish independent instances per open sea regional zone(i.e. Lower Antilles, Upper Antilles, New Spain, etc.) therefore replicating the jumpgate mechanic on the OS? It would be inconvenient for players to have to zone into new regions, but the inconvenience would be manageable if the loading times were as efficient as it currently is to zone into a battle or port instance. Please keep up the good work!
  4. Removing neutrals seems like a really bad idea. More importantly though, why isn't there an option to allow 2 characters per account? I only ask, because I'm terribly interested in seeing how the difference in game play and teamwork between Nationals and Pirates develops with a legitimate population. My rational in opposing limiting only one character per account: 1) It is not historically accurate to lock a captain to one flag. Practicably though, doing so will limit people's playing experience. Honestly, I'd like to play in the nation that best fits my playing style and mindset. I won't know which nation that truly is until the population in the game develops. 2) NA game play develops very slowly on the open sea and being locked into only one character will force the game to go even slower. Having multiple characters (even in one nation) spread across the map will not be possible and we will be at the mercy of tremendously impracticable time sinks. My two cents...

    POTBS

It is amazing to me to see how many people are still passionate about PotBS. Given PotBS' current state it is pretty clear that Naval Action is one of the few games that may take up the PotBS mantel and actually provide a better product. It will be exciting to see some familiar faces sailing in Naval Action!
