    Trading exhausted

    Over priced considering it costs 60 to mine -- and you get a few extras when you do. I make enough that 2/3 pays for the last third. Sell for profit or use. Everyone is trying for 100% margins or more. Devs have nothing to do with that.
  2. The Wiki has two Wood Tables, one with the graph and one without it. The numbers don't match by wood type. Could that be fixed please? Thank you.

    New rewards

    If xp is an issue, give ship skill points. It's not likely to have a major effect considering the break points, and that they would definitely gain every time.

    Wiki Wood List

    Yeah, but I don't know which one is right. Graphs?

    New rewards

    @clebiFive people waiting outside a port when I newb in a Basic Cutter sails out for his/her first mission to get some cash to maybe get better guns gets descended on by five Surprises.... that's a gank, not an ambush.

    Ship Knowledge grind

    New idea. Let's get rid of anything that actually looks like game play and call it a grind.

    Ship Knowledge grind

    @Ned LowHow's the market?
  8. I agree. Profiteering is rife!. Part of it is materials cost, but mostly it's because players want to charge 2-3 X what it cost them. I really think anything around 50 - 60% profit is more than adequate. But cannon are actually pretty reasonable to produce. I see other resources selling for 100 - 200 & over cost as well. Until enough players put stuff on the market for better prices, the crafters will get what they ask. Repairs, just cost too much to make for resale.

    Ship Knowledge grind

    Simply arrange it by ship Rates. Any 7th Rate gives you skills for all the others. Reaching Lvl 4 in a Lynx gives you those if you're in a cutter, Privateer, Pickle or any other as well. It seems the more popular ships in any Rating are not in the chains shown. (I suppose they have their own?) Experience from the Rate serves to unlock the next Rate up's ships. I'm not against the Ship Knowledge at all, this is how Captains were made in the age of sail. That it forces people into ships their style of fighting doesn't match, is an issue to me. A good Captain (as in ship's master) will rank up faster than one who isn't, and that is how it should be. If someone lacking the ship's skills takes command of a Rated ship he won't use it as well as one who took the time -- but forcing him onto a hated ship only breeds animosity. Whether points requirements are too high, or giving xp for all fights win/lose/draw (but not gold or cargo, of course) would fix it, I don't know. Forcing people into smaller ships to gain the skills for handling bigger ones is a good idea and accurate. But, as I said, it should be by Rating, not individual ship -- unless, also as mentioned (Black Brook did), later ones are for that specific ship.
  10. I don't think this is necessary. As long as we can trade between nations, resources will more around. If we all had everything there would be no trade.

    Wipe/Patch - impressions

    I made about 2500 in an hour and a half on line -- and I wasn't really working at it. I was looking for ports to set up outposts in (for when I get some doubloons) and spotting a Brit smuggler. He wasn't worth much, but the salt he had mad a nice contribution. I wouldn't expect to get much more than that unless I put some serious effort or time in. Not sure that's a good thing or a bad thing -- just my observation.

    Trading and economy feedback

    One more attempt to get everyone to "play the way I want"? Without easy to buy and sell consumer goods, where will the money come from to buy the resources you want to limit the economy to? You start with zero money and easy to hit AI traders and the trade goods are the only two places to get cash -- and neither is quick in a basic cutter.
  13. It's been discussed by a number of people. The devs' reply was that it would be too expensive to have more than one wave form on the server.
  14. I can see not getting Marks, or other monetary reward, cargo, etc. But fighting each other to a standstill is worth XP. It should at least be worth points toward a skill box in that ship. Experience comes from the fighting. Sadly, if I don't want to be a psychotic death-match player, I get nothing. There is no longer any reason to be nice to a challenging, honorable, but defeated opponent.

    Hotfix 9 for testbed patch 9.99

    I was just poking fun. I do understand. But as you pointed out starting out with nothing is a lot different than with 1 million redeemable. That's the way I went onto the the testbed. Lost everything; started over. Newbs are going to need something more in the way of direction I think.

    Hotfix 9 for testbed patch 9.99

    @Remus That sounds more of a challenge than a problem to me. You want no-risk rewards? You are being cautious with an expensive asset and that's good business. But what is the actual risk at this point? At worst you end up in yet another lousy basic cutter with the cash to seed a faster recovery, or another Privateer with an excuse to engage in "aggressive resource acquisition" to make back the investment.

    Let's be Crafty.

    Most excellent! :-}
  18. Okay so I didn't turn in any of the redeemables except the gold. I wanted to see how the low end of the scale was going to work. I decided after looking around a bit to craft myself a Lynx. Very exciting moment. First thing was to start collecting the resources so I went to the craft screen and worked my why through the mats to figure out what I would need. Foodstuffs for provisions -- fish and salt were easy enough but since there is no way other than fishing to get them... it could take a while. I got lucky and an AI smuggler from Spain had a hold full of salt. I farmed the oak and the fir and bought the iron ingots. On to Step two... I had farms for the Oak, Fir Hemp and Sugar (not needed for the build, but I like Rum). Get the mats built as resources are available. Fairly painless and about the same as before. Except we are at such a low population on the test bed, the other resources weren't showing up on the market. Rip out the Fir farm and go for Lignum Vite and Stone (a stone mine is called a quarry by the way, fyi. Common translator error). Expensive drop of 20,000 and I'll need to go back to fir at some point because Tar is very useful stuff. Bit by bit, piece by piece I get all the parts built. Then I need to destroy one of my buildings so I can make a Shipyard. (Another wasted 10,000 to add to the Fir farm's wasted 10,000.) Everything is now set. At this point I notice that I have earned 0 (that's zero) crafting experience. Then I craft the Lynx. Stats don't matter because I don't plan on it being around long. It has been said by Admin the plan is for crafters not to do all of this by them selves, but to team up and make it a joint effort. Why would I do that.? If I'm not going to get any experience from building parts so someone can craft the ship -- what is the point of helping them. Yeah, I get I can sell them the resources or the materials, but unless I gain experience for my part in the team, money isn't all that good on an incentive by itself. I can get that easily enough. I want to improve my crzaft skills as people who actually make things do for their effort. I'm hoping this isn't a finished aspect of the game as yet.

    What would a bonus to the biggest nation do

    Most people aren't involved in RvR. What the trade and use to make ships -- and those ships may be. @rediii I doubt that giving large population size added benefits will help the growth of smaller nationalities. What it will do is encourage people to join the already big one to get those benefits. That's like posting a sign telling people they get a free ticket if they are in the longest line -- people will get in the already longest line, not add to the shorter one hoping to change who gets the tickets.

    One Server for PVP

    Thank you Anolytic. At last someone smart enough to know what I wanted to know. @The Red Duke If you ask me what time it is and I tell you 8:30 is that UTC +5,UTC -5 or what... This is called the adjustment from UTC. Most people understand this. Sorry if you didn't; I did mean to think you might actually be smart enough to understand what I was asking.

    What would a bonus to the biggest nation do

    Why should the largest populated country get more just for that? They already have the advantage of being able to get more done, have more warships and reducing build times just because there are more people to do the work. Stupid premise.

    One Server for PVP

    NO shit Captain Obvious. Let me rephrase the question in a way you would under stand: How many fingers do you need to count to tell me the time at UTC for a given hour at the server? And do you travel east or west (that's right or left when you put the map down with the lettering so you can read it)? Jackass.
