Hello everyone, I came up with an idea the other day and that is Permanent or Random instances. With these instances it could just be you sailing along a coast and a random situation comes up that draws you into the Instance, or it might even be a visible Instance that draws up. Lets say we are sailing and my men on watch call out that there's a vessel in distress. So you have the opportunity to enter the instance and render assistance or even plunder their goods. With that you may win Honor points or Dishonor points (could be implemented?) or it might win you a reward or it might even be pirates laying a trap in the instance! Say we are sailing along a coast and it has Natives, you can sail to the Natives and initiate trade (Spices, rare wood, gold?). In return the natives can ask for weapons, foodstuffs, certain materials, with this it could allow the game to be significantly less monotonous (sp). It gives some semblance of something to do other than sail and fall asleep. We can also visit fishing using the same instance system, you don't like fighting or trading but you want to whale or even fish for rare fishes. Fishing could be just entering an instance and hunting these animals based on where you see them in the instance. You have to sail up and it would be like boarding but instead of the boarding screen you get a screen that has like Reel In, Send Small Boats, etc. With the bigger your vessel for fishing (these can be controlled by the rank for fighting and use the same crew amounts). We could even reuse the trader vessels and just call them Fishing Cutter, Fishing Lynx, Fishing Brig etc, and the upgrades can be "Gill Nets, Spare Small Boats, Expanded Furnace and several other options." Since whalers burned blubber at sea the furnace can only be installed on larger vessels.
Instances can be done to improve gameplay, expand opportunities for both losing your vessel, gaining extra money or joining a good fight. Feel free to expand on these ideas and add your own.
