  1. voting closing in 2 hours :)

Well, I'm going to lay my vote on Wasa and cross my fingers... :)

"Du skall svara mig inför Gud, om du stryker flagg!"

("You shall answer me before God, if you surrender!")

Captain Horn af Rantzien, final words to Lieutenant Lagerstråle onboard HMS Wasa, during the battle of Hogland.

  2. Well, since we haven't found any blueprint of her yet, it is almost impossible to make a proper 3D model of her.

And by the way, regarding the name, her original name is actually "Stora Cronan". Which I think would be the correct name for her if she ever gets added into the game.

  3. Hey I would be great if you would change the naval flags of Denmark-Norge and Sweden.

The Danish-Norwegian flag should look like this:

    220px-Naval_Ensign_of_Denmark.svg.png

    And the Swedish:

    600px-Naval_Ensign_of_Sweden.svg.png

I Dont know how old the Swedish navel flag is but the Danish-Norwegian "orlogsflag" is to my knowledge from around 1750 in the current form.

This swedish ensign would be correct for ca. 1650 - 1815, after that the upper left corner was red and white. The army fleet ensign was all blue, if I remember correctly.

Yes, that's correct Malachi. In game right now, the swedish flag is really the swedish civil flag with our police emblem on, which I think is really weird... The correct naval flag would be the one that Norbi shows up there, "örlogsflaggan".

I hope the devs fix this soon.

EDIT: The flags seems to be right now. Ignore my reply :)

  4. It's swedish indeed. A rough translation of the text in the bottom right is: "...The amirality has ordered 14 June 1728, to make a blueprint of a man-of-war with 60 cannons, after the dimensions of the ship(?) A.Brehmen ....150 foot long, 39 foot wide...Karlscrona (Karlskrona) 25 June 1728."

I'm going to make some more research but I'm not sure if this ship was ever made though. I don't recognize any name.

  5. Yeah, the way this poll is going is interesting. In the 2015 poll, three ships were to be voted in, and the three winners (Indefatigable, Amsterdam, Rattlesnake) all led the rest of the contestants by a decent margin. Third place (Rattlesnake) had 128 votes, while fourth place (Christian VII) had only 83. There wasn't this level of competition,at least not at the end, so picking the winners was simple. This poll, at least right now, is a different situation entirely. Depending on how future votes are cast and when the poll is locked, any one of 2, 3, or maybe even 4 ships could be in 2nd place (and therefore be guaranteed to be added to the game) when the voting stops.

Yes, and it's not entirely impossible for someone to make a second account to lay a vote more on the prefered ship... So, it'd be very unfair in my opinion if one ship won over another with just a few votes. But I guess rules are rules.

  6. So it says (translated to english): "The frigate ship Adolph Friedrich was built in Stockholm and launched 17??. The ship made a travel to the mediterranean sea and was sold at its return to the swedish east india company.

It made three travels for the same company to the east india. Then the ship, after it got transported to Stockholm from Gothenburgh sold to Stockholm again. In february year 1756 it got in the hands of captain Carl Baltzar Wen?t in Stockholm.

  7. Regarding controls, ok fair enough, can i just say from a personal point of view, i would prefer the game not to come out on console simply due to fear of things getting dumified and sacrefices being made due to the poor performance of "next gen" consoles.

I don't agree. I think Naval Action would be very great on ps4. Did you know that the ps4 is about 10 times more powerful than the ps3? Ac Black flag really looks beautiful on ps4 and it wasn't even created for the ps4 in the first place.

And more people can afford a ps4 than a expensive computer anyway to play Naval Action.

  8. For Sweden I nominate...

    HMS Wasa (1778)

Designed by Fredrik Henrik af Chapman. Chapman's idea was a ship which despite its small size could deliver much firepower. A smaller ship has the advantages that it's shallow draft can navigate with more freedom and that the reduction of water resistance gives it higher maneuverability and speed. The low height also reduces the drift which helps the vessel to keep in formation and is a smaller target for the enemy bombardment. The result was HMS Wasa. Chapman made it very stiff, so with full sail set it didn't tilt more then ten degrees during 6-7 meters per second.

Type: Fourth rate ship of the line.

    Armament: 60 cannons. 26 24-punders, 26 18-pounders, 8  6-pounders.

    Length: 48 m.

    Breadth: 13,5 m.

    Draught: 5,5 m.

  10. What nations regularly had a piper on board? I'm curious, because I've never heard of bagpipes being used in this capacity.

It was pretty usual for the navy to transport the army, so I guess they often played music when boarding. Even though I find no source of it.

But yea, I agree with you. Perhaps it would be a little to unrealistic with bagpipes.
