  1. Oh, so you'll be able to choose to raze your two-deckers down to frigates? I'm interested, but... wary. If that option is going to be available for all two-deckers, how many of the resulting razees will be historically accurate? Two-deckers were very common ships. Razees... not so much. You might run out of historical razees to implement, especially when you start dealing with two-deckers from nations that weren't in the habit of razeeing their ships.
  2. I hadn't thought of that. What had occurred to me, though, was that given the size of an 80-gunner, that would be one big frigate once you'd razeed her. It seems to me that that would make for a kinda weird-looking ship.
  3. A razeed Pavel? Is there any historical basis for that?
  4. "Good luck," as in "You're not going to have any luck"?
  5. I'm afraid I don't agree. Not out of any disrespect towards the victims or their families and friends, but because the world has gotten so effed up these days that if we had a ceasefire for one tragedy, we'd have to have to have a ceasefire every time something like this happened, which unfortunately means we'd have to have ceasefires every 6 weeks or so.
  6. What's her story? I don't think I've heard of her before.
  7. Click on the little arrow in the corner of the quote. edit: Ninja'd.
  8. Why the crappy GPU? The GTX 960 that the other folks were suggesting sounded like a good idea. Here.

    The Essex

Shouldn't the Essex be compared to the Frigate in armament as well? I mean, you can't really compare her to the Trinco when the Trinco has 10 more guns...
  10. I got lucky: I actually came across the theme to Captain Horatio Hornblower (with Gregory Peck) on YouTube: I've always enjoyed parts of that movie's soudtrack.
  11. 1.) Eventually, you're not just going to want to play NA on your PC, so think broadly: don't just buy a PC that can handle NA on minimum specs but can't handle any other new games that you might want to play on it. 2.) What are you looking to spend? This is the big question. I'd happily recommend a GTX 970 and an i5-4690k, but not everybody wants to fork over that amount of cash. So, what's your budget?
  12. I thought that they chose Le Bucentaure, since we know she's in development...
  13. I remember reading in a history book (not one specifically about naval warfare; just one about the ancient world, so this may be wrong)) once that the ancient Greeks used that as a battle tactic: the famous way for them to sink a ship was to ram it broadside, but they also would charge at a ship and then turn parallel to it and retract their oars, gliding alongside the enemy ship and breaking its oars on the one side. Then it could be boarded or finished off at will.
  14. Good luck sinking something when all you've got are three bow chasers, though.
  15. Also breaking role-play for a second:
  16. (As Captain Comery walks away, Arvenski, with his last breaths, draws another pistol from his belt, takes aim, and coldly shoots Captain Comery in the back. Arvenski's hand drops to the floor, dead, as Comery, mortally wounded, falls as well.)
  17. *Captain Arvenski limps into the room, one hand on his wounded leg, the other holding a pistol*
  18. And I accept your challenge, sir, without hesitation. If you choose to defend a woman such as her, then it is not my honor which is lacking. The choice of weapons is yours; I have no preference.
  19. "Much merriment"?!? Am I being given the laugh by some little English...?! *deep breath* You have allowed yourself to slip, Mademoiselle. Your thinly-veiled mockery has revealed a side of your character that previously did not present itself to me. What better guise for a spy to assume than that of an attractive but simple-minded young woman looking for her friend? If you intent, Mademoiselle, was to convince me that you are not in the employ of His Britannic Majesty, I fear you have given me quite the opposite impression.
