  1. Whoa, that's a great-looking model, mate. Very detailed.
  2. Who knows? It's already gone on for a while. We'll just have to wait and see. No way. Ships take some time to be modeled, implemented into the game, balanced, etc. Plus, it takes longer when the devs have other things to work on that take priority: we still don't have the winners from last year's poll in the game yet.
  3. Thanks for clarifying that, Ink.
  4. As I recall it, they said they DON'T have any plans for doing that.
  5. You know, there's a pretty simple solution to when one of the AI ships (not traders, but warships) chooses to run: turn the other way. You don't have to run, but sail perpendicular to him or away from him, and you'll force him to bring the fight to you. If you won't go on offence, then he has to. When he closes within range again, nail him. If he breaks off again, rinse and repeat.
  6. Well, you have to applaud them for not just opting for CGI.
  7. Never mind the ship itself; look at the size of that model. Wow.
  8. Seriously, good luck ever finding something to fight, though.
  9. Lovely screenshots, Bart. I'm not sure if Ingermanland's my type of ship (I think I'm more of an Agamemnon captain, myself), but those screenshots definitely make a case for it.
  10. 1.) Alright, fair point, I guess. I'll edit that. 2.) I'm aware of the bloody Kepler, I just haven't gotten around to including her yet. EDIT: Kepler's been included in the list. 3.) If it isn't confirmed, I'm not listing it in the OP. However, let's hope the Ship Selection Poll confirms it soon enough.
  11. Almost forgot to mention that I've updated the thread: Ingermanland and Le Grosse Ventre and now properly listed, since they've been released, and I've added Agamemnon to the ships in development, since Mirones confirmed her to be in development (and we basically knew, already). I haven't added the Kepler to the list yet, because I'm doing this in little bits while I should be writing school essays.
  12. The shallows mechanic in the OW isn't engaging or in-depth (no pun intended); it's just annoying. I sincerely hope in-battle shallows have more to them. Also, how detailed do collisions need to be? As far as visuals go, you wouldn't need to see a ship disintegrate on the rocks: if the computer is already rendering the coast, the water, and the ships, how much more does it really need to do in order for there to be believable-looking instances of ships running up on sandbars and getting stuck, or hitting rocks/reefs (receiving a lot of damage and leaks) and sinking?
  13. Any guesses on what ships we can expect to get? Ingermanland seems likely, but what else?
  14. Which, you might say, is why we're voting in this poll: we've tested the game, and now we get to choose which parts need improving the most.
  15. Yes. What the players have made and are dealing with right now, is, in my opinion, a mess.
  16. I don't see how 1 and 2 are all that important. My opinion is to just make to so that some nations are allies and some nations are enemies, try and balance it so that the nations of one side have roughly the same number of players (or if another balancing method can be found, that's fine too) as the nations on the other side, and let the players duke it out for a month or two. After that time has passed, reshuffle the alliances so that everybody's got a new set of allies and enemies, and let the fighting go on again. Occasionally, the devs might have to intervene if one nation is getting clobbered (maybe switch them over to the other side, or whatnot), but unless there's a crisis, they should just let the war happen. It can't be hard to beat the player-made diplomacy bollocks that we've got now...
  17. I voted for PvE because that's an area with a lot of potential (more interesting missions and quests, more diverse fleets; the sky's the limit), and I think that potential needs to be taken advantage of in order to keep gameplay interesting for the players. That being said, Leviathan echoed my feelings when he said this: I've only been in a clan, and therefore caught up in all this player-made diplomacy stuff, for a couple of weeks, and I'm already fed up with it. A diplomacy/'war and peace' fix would certainly be nice.
  18. It isn't just the ships from these polls that make it into the game: the devs pick new ships as well, and I imagine that they've noticed the lack of Dutch (and other) ships in the game right now. What I'm saying is that they might be working on a Dutch ship right now, and we don't know about it. There's also the Amsterdam indiaman, which we do know is in development.
