  1. Probably not as soon as "very soon," though, because I think most of us know by now how long it takes the devs to implement new ships.
  2. As in, just a random blueprint? You realize that's about as helpful as creating a thread about a French Ocean-class 1st rate and then including blueprints of HMS Victory, just because she's of the same class (1st rate)? To top it off, there's no way that third blueprint in the OP is even of a ship from the same century as Santisima Trinidad.
  3. Uh, you might want to think about that one a bit... Home One was the Rebel's flagship at Endor, which was ~20 years after the end of the old Republic. While I imagine that Mon Cal cruisers did exist during the time of the Clone Wars, you don't really see them leading (m)any Republic battle fleets...
  4. I mean, think about it: instead of the Caribbean, you'd have a section of the Star Wars galaxy. Instead of ports, you'd have planets. Instead of fortresses, you'd have defensive space stations. Instead of sailing ships, you'd have... Just for the Republic, for example: 1st rate: Imperator/Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (Yes, the Republic did use these towards the end of the Clone Wars, according to Wookieepedia). Uncommon, but uncommonly powerful. 2nd rate: Venator-class Star Destroyer. The workhorse. 3rd rate: Victory/Victory II-class Star Destroyers. The smaller workhorses. 4th rate: Acclamator/Acclamator II-class assault ships. They might not be the best at fighting bigger capital ships, but they're nothing to sneeze at. 5th rate: Arquitens-class frigate. Quick, maneuverable, armored. 6th rate: Consular-class cruiser, Pelta-class frigate, CR90 corvette. Light and, well... light. And those are just the Republic ships, and just the ones I wrote down. Of course there are more, depending on how deep you want to get into Wookieepedia. And as for other nations, well, for instance, if you were to use the old Expanded Universe canon, you could have a field day with all the different Imperial ships. As for gameplay, well, it'd be similar to what we have no, only you'd be flying your ship in 3-dimensional space. Ships would still take a while to be destroyed, but maneuvering might take place at a faster pace (especially for some of the smaller ships, which can move pretty quickly compared to the bigger ones). You could manage crew and/or power allocation (similar to how it is now with crew management). If your ship has a hanger, you could launch, recover, and give commands to squadrons of AI fighters and bombers: some ships might excel at this more than others, like the Venator, which is a carrier as much as a battleship. You could select targets for your point-defense turrets (they could aim automatically, given that they'd be shooting at fast, small targets like fighters), and aim volleys of turbolaser fire from your primary and secondary guns in hopes of disabling certain areas of an enemy ship. Imagine a 'port battle' set up like that: 20-25 guys on one side in Imperators, Venators, Victories, and Acclamators, and 20-25 guys on the other side in Trade Federation Battleships, Commerce Guild Destroyers, Banking Clan Frigates, and so forth. Laser fire flying everywhere, AI V-19 and ARC-170 fighters dogfighting droids around the capital ships, etc. Anybody else like that idea?
  5. Okay, I've updated the lists to include Christian VII and Diana, the apparent winners of the Player Ship Selection poll. I'll update it again when we know the developers' wild card choice.
  6. Who knows. The devs tend to take forever with new ships, though, so my advice would be for all of us to sit back and be patient.
  7. Ah, okay. I thought it was going to end about 20 minutes ago (from the time of this post). C'mon, Diana, hang in there...
  8. And at the very start of the voting, Admiraal de Ruyter had a big lead over the other ships of the line.
  9. She still has to make it through the rest of today, first.
  10. You're not mistaken. This one's from the 18th century (1778), and, to my eyes at least, looks pretty stable. The one the capsized right after leaving its port was from the 17th century (the 1600s), if I remember correctly. @Twig: Dude, I still haven't managed to get straight in my mind which ship is the Vasa and which is the Wasa. I just know that one of them is from one century, was a big ship for the time, and famously capsized; and that the other one is from another century, is a 60-gunner, and as far as I know did not famously capsize. I also know that the second one is the one in this poll.
  11. Yeah, it has. Remember how much Christian VII struggled to be a contender earlier? I don't know where all these votes for her are coming from now. Either a lot of Scandinavians, or at least people who want to see an Danish ship in-game, are turning up to vote, or people are just voting for the biggest ship available. :lol
  12. Well, I would've liked to have seen more ships, too, but judging by the amount of stuff in this update, it looks like the devs had plenty to do.
  13. Really? My guess was that she's a 4th rate because she's an older design, while a Napoleonic-era 64 like the Agamemnon will still be a 3rd rate.
  14. Barfleur has been a player favorite in the past, but for some reason, she didn't get much (if any) mention in the nominations for the current poll.
  15. Wow, look at the number of votes that have come in since Admin's announcement. That must've really gotten people's attention.
  16. Willem Dafoe might make a good narrator for the US, if he isn't too American-sounding for the role. EDIT: Like you say, OP, Gary Sinise would be pretty decent, too.
  17. Who would you recommend for the French, though?
  18. For those of you who are complaining about perceived "Russian bias": click on the link in my signature, and scroll down to "Ships by nationality". I wrote that for a reason: there are only 3 Russian ships in the game, with one more in development. Britain, the US, and France all have more ships in the game than Russia. Britain has 7 (plus 2 more in development), the US has 5 (with one more in development), and France has 4 (with two more in development). Now, taking that into account, your "Russian Bias" claim is looking kinda shaky, wouldn't you say? Vasa: a fourth-rate from 1778. Not the old, wobbly Wasa that sank on her maiden voyage.
