  1. This ship...meh.

I'll be honest and say that of all the ships we could get in-game, I don't know why we're getting this one. Or at least, I don't know why we're getting it at this point, when there are plenty of ships from far more historically influential nations than Hamburg that aren't in the game yet. I know I've said that ships matter more than where they came from, but still, this seems odd.

Also, where is your signature from, Malachi? It looks awesome.

  2. I thought as much. Okay, so what nationality should I list her as? Would she be Swedish, if she's a Chapman design?

Also, I know it was mentioned that the devs were having trouble getting the plans for the Amsterdam. Is this Indiaman what the devs ended up going with instead, since they couldn't find the Amsterdam's plans, or was this one of the other traders "possibly" in development, and are we still going to get the Amsterdam later? I know you probably won't want to answer this (:P), but I'd like to know.

  3. Ships aren't the most important content NA needs, nor a priority.  ;)

We can play with the ships that are in game.

Well, it sure looks like they aren't the devs' priority...

But still, it's not exactly encouraging when there's a backlog that's over a year long. Besides, think of all the newbies who bought the game when it released on Steam but didn't follow its development beforehand, so they aren't as acquainted with the situation as we are. I bet there were a lot of people like that who got an interest in this game and bought it just in time to be able to vote in this year's poll, and who are/were excited at the idea of getting the Diana and the Christian VII within a few months of their voting. How many times over the coming months are we (folks who have been around the game and community a bit longer than others) going to have to explain to those newbies, when they come on this forum and ask where their ships are, that they should consider themselves pretty lucky if they see those ships by New Year's?

  4. Considering that we finished the "First Half 2016" poll a month ago and we haven't even gotten the winners of the freaking 2015 poll ingame yet, goodness knows when we'll get the Bucentaure (which was first revealed in June 2015). Frankly, I'm getting annoyed.

  5. Too... much... Star Wars... :(

Sorry, when all nerd culture, be it video gaming, boardgaming or miniature wargaming is being taken over by the stuff, one gets extremely tired of it.

Can't we let us Age of Sail fans have our fun without obsessing with some science fiction stuff? :)

I hear you, but AFAIK the only recent Star Wars games we have are The Old Republic MMO and Battlefront. Now, I actually enjoy Battlefront (when there are enough players online to be able to get into a decent game), but let's face it: the devs didn't try very hard when it came to the flying. I'd just like to have a Star Wars game that does ships well and takes advantage of today's PC technology (for bigger battles, better graphics, more 'complex' units, etc.): it can be an arcade flight sim like War Thunder's arcade mode, or something a bit more slow-paced and in-depth (like Naval Action), or an RTS, or... whatever. It's just that I waited years for a Star Wars game that wasn't ToR, and while I like Battlefront, I think it would be good if we had more options when it came to Star Wars games.

  6. I've also been acquainted with The Sea Hawk since a young age. If you're looking for more Errol Flynn in similar swashbuckler roles, try The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), and Adventures of Don Juan (1948). They're not naval-related, but they're still fun movies. If you're looking for another older naval film set in the Age of Sail, you could try Captain Horatio Hornblower (1951), with Gregory Peck.

  7. Slightly more HP than Santi and faster.

    Broadside debatable - from 42-24-12-9 to 42-24-18-12.

I think it should get the bigger guns to bring her into the broadside weight class of the Santi, rough homogenization of the "heavy first rates" would allow more diversity in battles if they were comparable (Ocean, Santisima, Caledonia) instead of having one clear winner when min-maxing. Santi most firepower but weakest, Ocean in the middle and Caledonia strongest hull - but all very close)

We don't know if we're getting the Caledonia.
