  1. We've already got a thread about her in the History board, fyi.
  2. Now that's a grand sight. I'm really at a loss for words as I browse those pictures.
  3. Just by counting ports, it looks like she's got around 100 guns or so. o0
  4. Honestly, I think it'd be a great touch for immersion if I could be sailing along in the open world and suddenly hear someone yell "Deck there! Saaaaaiiiil ho!" as a ship is spotted on the horizon. Perhaps it could only work when the other ship was clearly visible, like in the open sea? That way, you'd still have to spot potential ambushes along coasts and such (for example, where an enemy ship is mostly hidden behind a spit of land) yourself; the computer wouldn't do that for you.
  5. I'm afraid I don't know about that one, but I can imagine. And I hadn't heard about the revolver thing, either, but that doesn't surprise me. It's like the WoT types who keep asking for the M1 Abrams. Not a single damn given about historical accuracy or balance, they just want the coolest or most OP thing they can hope to get their hands on. Quite frankly, I'm surprised it's revolvers and not Gatling guns or Maxim machineguns.
  6. Well, if you ever want to chat on there, I'm Arvenski on that forum as well. It's actually the forum where I'm most active, and I do most of my hanging out on there. And about the NW playerbase being bad: Most of the time I spend on the TW forum I spend in the Off-Topic areas, which doesn't interact with the "On-Topic" areas (the boards for the different games, mods, DLCs, etc.) much, but I do recall the release of NW bringing an influx of trolls and idiots to the forum (new people who came there solely for NW, rather than the regular M&B players). :lol
  7. Huh, I'll have to look into that one. Thanks. Btw, are you on the Taleworlds forum, Jeremiah?
  8. I've played M&B for years. The original M&B was one of the first games I owned, and then I played a lot of Warband after that. I don't have Napoleonic Wars, though, but I do play the L'Aigle singleplayer mod for Warband. One thing though, the NW DLC isn't developed by Taleworlds (the devs of M&B and Warband), but by a company called Flying Squirrel. While I can't speak from first-hand experience, I've heard quite a bit on the TW forum about the immaturity (to put it politely) of the Flying Squirrel devs. Rigging Warband multiplayer tournaments, banning from the forums people who disagree with them, etc. So, just... my advice is to just keep that in mind, especially if you're about to buy NW or are thinking of becoming active on Flying Squirrel's forums.
  9. She must've been blown to pieces, what with the fore half of the ship gone and that giant pile of timber rubble. Geez.
  10. About the Neptune galleon: Holy hell, an actual 3-decker. I didn't know there of those (original or replicas) around, except for HMS Victory. Judging by the number of ports, I'm guessing she's probably a 74- to 80-gun ship?
  11. Heh, that plan you posted (of the ship similar to Sirene) looks kinda graceful, actually. That model, though. Yuck.
  12. It'd be nice if your OP had the slightest bit of information to go with the picture, too...
  13. Ooh, I don't think I've ever heard of Turumas before. Here are some images that I found, though (they're too big to post here, I'm afraid): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3d/Turuma_Lodbrok-frontview.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7c/Turuma_Lodbrok-forecastle1.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5b/Turuma_Lodbrok-midship.jpg/1280px-Turuma_Lodbrok-midship.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/70/Turuma_Lodbrok-quarterdeck2.JPG http://koti.mbnet.fi/felipe/assets/images/turuma.jpg
  14. I think I'll be a French naval officer. Get myself some frigates, and then hopefully move on to 3rd and 2nd Rate SoLs. I don't plan on going for the biggest ships, or even some of the best ones (for instance, I have very limited interest in sailing the Trincomalee, Constitution, Surprise, or Santisima) but I'll try to get some of the good ones that appeal to me.
  15. I had an idea for in-battle repairs: Instead of the arcade-y 3-repair-kit system we have now, why not have the ship's hull slowly regenerate whenever you're in survival mode? That'd make more sense and be more realistic, as things like plugging holes, reinforcing weak spots, etc (aka repairing damage to the hull) are part of seeing to the survival of the ship. Perhaps knocked-out cannons could also have a chance to be put back into action when the crew is in survival mode.
  16. Well, I'm all for limiting artificial mechanics and just allowing the players the leeway to take care of things for themselves, so +1.
  17. What Mazarredo said. When I get my new PC, I think (and hope) that its GTX 970 should be able to handle a fair enough amount of crew members on my ship and the ships near me (a lot of crew don't need to be rendered on ships that are too far away for me to see their crew anyway, so that should save on a lot of CPU/GPU load), so I'd like to see them. Although, I do like the idea of a "visible crew" slider that can be lowered for people with less powerful PCs. The same goes for guns being animated (running out before firing, and rolling back after firing). If I have a powerful enough PC to be able to see that sort of thing, and hopefully I will soon, I'd like to be able to. However, I think that's another thing that could come with an option to disable it for lower-end PCs.
  18. Because it would be odd to have muskets being fired without anyone firing them?
  19. That Kronan is one ugly ship. And people were saying that in the San Felipe thread that San Felipe looked ugly. Kronan there makes San Felipe look downright graceful by comparison.
  20. I thought it might be a good idea for players of different nations be be able to temporarily put aside their differences and play alongside each other. Obviously, they wouldn't be able to attack each other's nations without becoming pirates, but players from two (or more, perhaps) different nations could work together to take on enemies from a third nation. Let me explain further with some examples: A British Barfleur and Trinco are sailing together, and they spot a French Tonnant. Before the British ships can come to grips with the Tonnant, a group of three Danish Christian VII ships show up and start chasing both the British and the French. By themselves, neither the Barfleur and Trinco or the Tonnant can fight off three Christian VIIs. So, the British chase down the Tonnant, and instead of attacking him, ask him if he'd be willing to work with them to take on the Danish. If he agrees, they can send him some kind of UI message with a choice of yes or no, and if he clicks yes, they will have signed a "temporary alliance pact." The pact might last for an hour or so of real time (as opposed to in-game time), during which time those British players and that French player can't attack each other without being branded an honorless pirate, and they can come to each other's aid in battle. If the Christian VIIs then attack the Tonnant, the Barfleur and Trinco can come to his aid, and if the British ships get attacked by the Danish, the Tonnant can come to their aid. However, if other British ships (ones not involved in the pact) show up and get in a fight with the Tonnant, the Barfleur and Trinco can't get involved (they can't join the other British and attack the Tonnant, as they'd be breaking their word, and they can't attack ships from their own nation without becoming pirates), and vice versa for the Tonnant if other French ships show up and fight the Barfleur and Trinco. Those who have signed a temporary alliance pact can only fight together against nations (or pirates) that are hostile to both their nations. Another example: In the open world, I'm probably going to play as the French. However, I have a friend who's Dutch, and might want to play for the United Provinces. The downside to that is that we can't play together. However, if we agreed to a temporary alliance pact, we could. We couldn't attack French ships together because I'd be French, and we couldn't attack Dutch ships together because he'd be Dutch, (although I could attack Dutch ships by myself as usual without him incurring any penalties; he just couldn't get involved without becoming a pirate. Same for him attacking French ships), but we could work together to give the Spanish hell. Perhaps a third friend, playing as a Spaniard, might join us: Then we wouldn't be able to attack Spanish ships together, same as with French and Dutch ships, but we could all fight together against another nation that was hostile to all of us, like the US. What do you think?
