  1. 1: Theres a massive button called disengage. 2: if your going so slow as to be grappled you made a mistake. Avoiding the board happens way way before the grapple button arrives. 3: getting boarded would render your ship immobile. You can't give orders, sheet yards, or drop canvas when engaged in melee. Getting rammed sucks I will agree. But we're not getting the ability to snipe helms man and disable rigging and other methods to get a ship into irons so i think it's ok to concede on this one.
  2. Alright slim I get your passionate about it but calm your chops I just think your focusing on the wrong side of boarding and taking it way to personal. I disagree with you that's it. I have no suggestions to fix the "grapple" problem because I dont see one and like hethwill says above there's plenty of other non realistic things in this game that we don't shout about so realism can't be a argument for this. I honnestly beileve the current mechanic is functional and works as intended. Any major change to it would require a massive overhaul of the core boarding mechanics. For a start ship to ship musket fire. I have plenty of suggestions for DD and have suggested them prior in multiple threads and will continue to fight for them when I have the time. Jubsies opion in a nutshell. ♡
  3. Who's complaining about that? That sounds like a load of horse crap. Determined defender needs reworking. Boarding as a whole needs reworking. The actual process of initiating the grapple is fine. Were not going to get a more realistic grapple and i think its simulated ok and its not always instant and the battles are at a increased time anyway so i don't see the problamo.
  4. Could give us for the small ships like yachts. Lording around on pleasure boats with some beautiful ladies.
  5. In regards to OP couldn't care for it. Remove it or make it a lot better.
  6. Haha on every ship I've been on its beer, rum, whiskey, port and bottles of water.
  7. How does one brew tea when the fresh water supply has grown algae ?
  8. Nah I don't like it. The reality is once a ship is prepared to board another they would have multiple grapples ready. You could expect multiple men to be throwing them. Also if the defending ship is not prepared to repell borders they wouldn't have axes prepared to cut ropes. Boarding supplies would be stowed and lashed down so it takes time to prepare them. Also the current disengage is basically what your talking about except with the added bonus of you still get crew damage from the on going boarding attack,
  9. A lot of the visuals your posting about have been raised time and time again. Use the search function on the forum to find the discussions regarding graphics, ship accessory's and paints etc.
  10. I concur on the pennants. Varying Pirate flags would be good. (just add another 5-10 famous ones into the mix) Be nice to see the union jack replaced with the correct ensigns as well.
  11. Funds mighty Mo with ships and money so can stream snipe
  12. I'm not sure where I stand on this. Specialising your ships with upgrades is great and one of the best features of the game but sometimes it can go to far. Some mods do literally nothing where others are super powerful (elite Spanish). I think they need a balance overhaul really. There's already hard limits in place on caps like 30% armour hp buff for example. Maybe some of them need tweaking ?
  13. Yeah doesn't need anymore rewards its fine as it is. If your going to screen out a port the reward is keeping the port. IF you want rewards like PVP marks for fighting fight over the port or engage in a proper screening battle. Its up the players to find there rewards in the game. Kiting deserves no rewards ever. As it currently stands. The problem is that RVR is pointless at the moment and the community doesn't want to engage in battles because of the grind required to get there.
  14. Like the old days where you could lay a blow to a nation by trapping there massed reserves in a port by capture.
  15. Yeah the effect a single player can have on stability should be minimal to reduce exploitation and should coincide with hostility effects.
  16. PS This would then promote the two to work side by side. So stability would be a long term affect that could be ground up or down over a whole weeks cycle for example (VM cycle). While the hostility would be still on a daily cycle.
  17. That's actually a really good idea. It might need some more teething and tweaking to establish it. So mechanical question. Could it exist along side current hostility mechanic? So instead of making a port unstable enough to attack you would have to still raise hostility but it would be directly affected by the stability. So for example a port that had 20% stability would have a -80% modifier to the amount of hostility required to grind before PB achieved.
  18. Yeah I was playing before regional bonuses and after. I still think its necessary because it will increase the OW traffic. Make it possible to lock up a clans/nations crafting ports by RVR etc etc. Its a good thing. There clearly not going to reintroduce the regional bonuses they used to have but are by my estimation introduction a increase in chances of 4/5 or 5/5 rolls etc which is good. Well then isn't the current meta boring by the same justification your giving? everyone currently sails 3/3's for pretty much all activities. Is that not boring? PS Regardless its happening, it was requested by many. Lets test it and see what it brings.
