  1. If I had a problem with a nation this post would be in tribunal not in open world discussions. I am NOT accusing any player or nation of exploiting or "war crimes" I will also openly state that the Dutch and DAS has ALSO crafted up to 6-8 flags in a single night. My point STILL stands, this is wrong. Wrong. In every situation or circumstance, wrong. Clearly a chat on teamspeak will do us both a world of good Brog. See you tonight.
  2. I never argued to restrict the capture of ports, if anything I'd argue that ALL ports even the capital should be capturable but there are Lots of other features and programming that can be altered to stop this happening which I've explained in detail in previous posts or threads.
  3. Alright let's discuss low populated nations then. Eventually depending on the mood of surrounding nations, there WILL be at least 1 nation who is reduced to one port. Do you believe in that case that 1 port nations should still be allowed or should simply be removed from the game? Hyperthetical question:Lets say in 5 months time if the mechanics remain as they are that Sweden, the Danes and Dutch all lose the majority of their players due to an alliance between France Britain US and Pirates. Should those 3 nations then be removed from the game? What would be the point in playing them as all the economically important ports REQUIRED to make ships will be inaccessible. All the newbies of that nation will also find themselves being ganked by enemy players looking for some easy x3 exp. These are the inevitable extreme consequences of these mechanics.
  4. It is completely ridiculous to try and justify mechanics allowing a single nation to possibly lose over 50% of their ports in a single night. Any arguments you try to justify it, I'm sorry, are absolutely invalid. You still had 2 officers of DAS down there trying to rally captains at that point in time. Piet's main problem it seems is that I didn't personally help out either, and to be frank I won't be ridiculed for wanting a a single night off doing some mindless therapeutic grinding. We all have lives too and I won't apologise for priortising my own health and welfare over a game. I understand English may not be your first language, but please read what I've said again buddy. You seem to have misread. Monkey!
  5. Dan The swedes have a very big nation right next door. France. Do the Danes? No. The Brits are also at the Danes East. Yes that is the definition of desolated
  6. This is a perfect example of broken mechanics. I can assure you I'd have the same point whether I be on the offensive side or defensive so do not think I am biased. The fact that the swedes, Brits and French were able to each attack at least 2 ports each of a pretty lonely desolated nation is seriously wrong. I find it frustrating being on the defensive and knowing that one of my allies is being roflstomped. I'd also find it pretty precarious being on the offensive with the ability to reduce a nation to one port. Wherever the solution lies, through port battles, capital and home ports, or alliances, it needs to be fixed with much more urgency that is being shown at present. Already the Dutch nation has lost 1 guild KPM to another nation out of sheer frustration at incidents or disorganisation caused by pressure through flawed mechanics. You would think people would accept it is early alpha and accept certain kinds of crap will happen but clearly it is not the case kind regards Monkey
  7. It isn't a simple task my friend. For a start, the Devs don't seem to have enough trust in their servers to run 3000 people, never mind 3 times that number. The economy would have to be completely changed, overall production increased, the players generally hate wipes, any kind of wipe. Port battles are very flawed at the minute due to the sheer quantity of players on PvP. Etc etc the list goes on. Yes in an ideal world it's be 1 massive server, but if that is ever to happen, it shan't be for a good while
  8. I would suggest discovering a new port gives xp rather than simply sailing. You wouldn't even have to not you could simple dead reckon and go watch TV for a while
  9. Yes you should!!!!!!!!!!! Hah! A vety funny report of the events. A small victory by the French at Scarborough, but only one capture out of the four attacks! I would be interested to know the combined cost of the 4 flags and the loss of over 30 ships! A very indecisive victory indeed!
  10. Recommend speed fan. Works for windows (even boot camped) / iMac
  11. I will say blockading also doesn't work in the sense that, if you manage to pull in the entire 25 players, after 2-3 mins they can hop out, and get enough invisibility to enter the PB which of course [with it's 40min open state] will let you in.
  12. The Dutch Nation are recruiting more brave captains to fight for our cause! We have a multitude of guilds from all over The World: - Britain - Poland - Russia - Belgium - Spain - Italy - US Just to name a few! We also of course have the multinational guild "The Dutch Antilles Squadron" whose primary language is English. We know the game in this early stage can be tricky, for vets with 500+ hours or complete newbies alike, so that is why I would strongly recommend joining a guild, ANY guild in order to learn the ropes, and all the tricks of the trade. Why should you join The Dutch Nation? The Naval Action community generally is very good, with a fairly mature player base, and the Dutch Nation absolutely reflects this and not only hosts some of the best players on the game, but the friendliest. My honest opinion is that we may have the very best community on the whole game. This is coming from an Englishman who has spent about 75% of his 500 hours sailing for the British. All Our Guilds are also in regular contact with weekly meetings to maximise efficiency in regards to economic and strategic dominance. So join now, find a guild, no, some friends to play the game with, be a trading/economic tycoon, crafter or feared captain of the seas. Join the Dutch Nation. Safe sailing
  13. Our Glorious Campaigns have resulted in the capture of over 15 ports! There are none who can stand between us and world domination!!!!
  14. Hello guys! Enjoy these memes, courtesy of the Dutch Antilles Squadron! Feel free to make your own and add them to the thread!
  15. Well, a guild in that case could store an unlimited amount of 1st rates, see as they don't cost anything except the crafting price, and just Roflstomp everything whenever they please. Guilds and players HAVE to somehow be limited in the amount of Big ships they can have, and the only way to do that is to introduce severe maintanance costs, which would obviously affect every ship along with the big risk element you mentioned in the above quote.
  16. Definitely would oppose that statement. Sure they may seem high, but after a day's sailing and grinding, I've easily made about 200k-400k gold. Remember ships NEED to cost something to maintain. That way we solve the "everyone having a ship of the line" issue.
  17. I'm afraid I've never played Eve! (Although I know a little about it). Some interesting info there, thanks!
  18. Sure, that could happen. But I'd view that as another feature and selling point, rather than a con. Risk is exciting. Eve has shown that. Rust has shown that. Dayz has shown that. H1z1 has shown that. Sure you could lose a ton of money, you could also lose 5 1st rates with a flag totalling to a 1.5 million loss or something, so maybe split it between 3 treasurers? Be smart. Risk has become extremely attractive over the past few years. Choose your guilds and treasurers wisely I guess. I know in 100% certainty that our current designated treasurer in the DAS wouldn't run off the the money. Just be smart about it.
  19. Hello! Wanted to make an individual topic for this as I DO believe that it could be a major part of the game and benefit all parties involved. I believe that guilds should be able to charge guild tax from 1% - 20% of all winnings. We all know how expensive flags and crafting are at the moment, and I think we can hazard a guess the larger ships are going to be extortionate to maintain. It adds a bit of fun and depth to guilds, much like the diplomacy / economic menu in the total war games. In future what could be the deciding factor between guilds is yes, members, style and activity, but also the tax rate. It also gives nations / Fleets options if they suffered heavy losses of resources, ships or ports. If this happens guild members can expect the tax rate to be increased to fund replacement guild funded ships of the line and flags etc In regards to guild owned ports which have already been previously discussed, if you made regional capitals harder to maintain by increasing the port tax rate, the size of your guild and tax rate would determine whether it is a viable asset to hold as a main base of operations. Thoughts?
  20. Hello! So after another hard grind up and a long look at where exactly we are with the patches (specifically pricing, economy and decreases durability) it struck me how important guilds are to national security, economy and how beneficial it is to be in one. That in mind I believe the following points would go a long way to making guilds more efficient, and appealing. - Exploration. All ports you individually have not explored, but have been captured by your own guild, will show their economic produce, consumption to you and be marked as visited. - Guild Tax. I believe that this feature adds a bit more fun to the game (almost like diplomacy/economy management in the total war games). I believe guilds should be able to charge a % of all winnings to go to the guild coffers from 5% - 30%. And of course this can make the deciding factor if you are choosing two guilds and one has less tax then the other. In future a couple of questions to ask a guild before joining would be "how many members" "how active" and with this, "what is your tax rate". (We all know how expensive flags and crafting can be!!! - Activity. This already in a form, exists within the guild, though the guild UI is slightly bugged at the moment. What would be great is having a *last online 2 days ago* and ALSO *Last seen 5 weeks ago*. The last seen would be when YOU personally saw that person face to face, or if you were in the same port Thoughts, comments, speculation?
