  1. The stern gallery is aligned with the lower gun deck on the ship's plans. In the drawing there is a gun deck below the stern gallery. Yeah bulwarks don't match either but as you say it's not an issue, they may have been added later.
  2. Hmmm the plan and the picture don't really match hehe. I am unconvinced about adding post war ships It would be broken OP, a 74 would have trouble fending this thing off even in a broadside duel.
  3. Changing the colors of swords is a legit request imho. It's the same issue with OW missions, in storms you can't find them even if you are right on top of them. Relog to get 10 seconds of clean weather and it's right there.
  4. I never asserted you wouldn't be able to sail a first rate. I question the purpose of a new grind requirement, I already leveled up once, so why do it again? I still have to redo all my outposts, level a new officer, lose all my BP and outpost slots and I need to have people holding on to my stuff.. combine that with a 30 day lock out.. isn't that enough? We are currently witnessing what lock ins of players/factions/alliances do - I firmly believe we need a less rigid system and maybe even incentives for people to even out teams rather than punishments like now.
  5. Aye, it has to be easier, and I was shocked to see that Q&A response. Losing a rank is too harsh though. Commodore to Rear Admiral grind is probably worse than what we have now (unless you are a crafter with rare blueprints, then you simply can't switch at all). I'm currently testing that part of the game, and I can tell you if I had to grind RA again on top of all the other work, I would not do it and I wouldn't have been able to sail with nice people on both sides of the alliance divide. I agree on the CD of a few weeks before being able to switch again.
  6. I'd be slightly apprehensive having to sail this over the Atlantic. Cool ship nonetheless
  7. For the 'fame' ranks why not use titles of nobility of the era? "Marquis de Zooloo" "Viscount Snoopy" They can be combined with the military rank and applied at the same time. The US is screwed in this system though. That'll teach them not to rebell against the crown hehe.
  8. Jeheil you need to press a few US sailors, maybe we can get a slice of 1812 going. HMS Leopard is waiting for you.
  9. Aye, this is a very good proposal. We need more of this. To break out of the current stalemate I feel we need a full alliance reset but long term this mechanic sounds good. "Papers from [Madrid, London, Philadelphia|Washington, Paris,...] have arrived. You are now at war with X"
  10. I wasn't playing for Sweden then (nor am I today). You are probably right about the fact that it's impossible currently via player votes, and worse, it will only get more entrenched in the future. We need that auto-breakup of alliances, it's the only thing that may help mend cross faction relations.
  11. In a vacuum, wouldn't this be the best of all bad scenarios though?
  12. Don't you agree that it would be better to preserve (if at all possible) one global server? Wouldn't it be better if everyone could participate? I am not saying your solution is crazy (it would work, probably) but I treasure having people across the globe playing the same game with me and a mechanic that doesn't partition our (small) player base any further is better in my view. Faction/alliance bloc imbalances will likely still appear on prime time restricted servers, there is nothing in place to stop this. That's why tools are needed for players to easily switch factions, without it no balance between nations (and across time zones) is possible. In addition they also need incentives to switch, in whatever form. The majority probably don't want to switch and leave their friends behind. For this reason an additional game mechanic is needed that breaks up player based alliances some of the time and forces new ones. I'd try this on a global server first and see if it is enough before doing something heavy handed like forcing players to switch to a new server. It's theirs, too.
  13. I liked your post, rediii, at least you see the irony Not everyone does..
  14. Would you agree to this if the devs put US prime time PB time windows on PVP1 and told you to leave or live with it?
  15. My solution is AI diplomacy (at least partially). Break up alliances regularily, the game and the community will be better for it. It is better than restrictions on players when the can have PBs, and it is better than a forced exodus of players. I rather like the global community, it is a strong point of the game. Don't partition it.
  16. Who is going to decide who shall leave PVP1 though?
  17. It was an issue the whole time and ppl were moaning about it back then. A lot. Ironically, they wanted to get rid of timers all together which was weird to me because even back then it was quite clear you'd still get the "night" flips we have today.
  18. That was directed at the axe pic. The server "PVP 1 EU" was formerly known as "PVP" when it was the only server. The letters EU came later to indicate the geographic region the server is in, not the players. Demanding now that players leave is pretty low, and it won't solve the problem of night flips at all.
  19. Excluding US players is no solution. Never mind such a step being a ***k move, even with them gone, as long as the mechanic remains the same the nerd portion of the EU players will still be able to do night flips, don't delude yourself that that won't happen.
  20. Balancing would be good, but it's going to be difficult. Even measuring "size" of factions isn't just about numbers, having joined a faction does not mean the player is going to participate in PvP let alone RvR or be active at all. However, chronic imbalances need to be addressed but it would probably be an unwise move to force player Aubrey5004 and J4cK Sp4rr0w into a low pop faction, some for of incentive and compensation for switching needs to emerge - and the actual process of faction change has to be a lot easier, currently it is a long winded process to get your outposts, and officer perks back, and for crafters losing all blueprints means it's entirely impossible.
  21. Because it's not you who is allied to the opposing faction, it's the nation, and government. You are roleplaying as a navy captain and you do what the king says. Democracy is still a swear word in this age. Don't like that arrangement? The game has a historically accurate solution: take The Black
