  2. I agree while that the campaign is important, this game is a sandbox and a designer first and foremost too be honest. Im glad its going in that direction as well since it can offer a stupid amount of replayability. Basically modding would need to be a thing for this game allowing peeps to add in special effects, different textures, turrets, superstructures, guns, barrels, camo schemes, modules (models or simple upgrades), text effects, music and sound, missions, maps etc. Would offer a huge amount of replayability, but we will have to wait for that after the campaign. Also i hope they add

  3. UAD team is pinning everything on the campaign, maybe too much. IMO, the sandbox aka Custom Battles is a huge asset to this game, just look at what CCs have produced so far and that’s just on the first draft of Custom Battles.

  5. No actually its very historically accurate not to be broadside in a ship with a majority of forward firing guns or aft if the enemy ships were chasing you or if you lost your only guns in either way. Or to Actually use historical "angling" to move away or kite enemy ships away. My ships also dont need to go completely broadside if I issue a change fire order on a ship thats CLEARLY a bug if my ships could actually adjust fire without having to do so. Especially if they force the whole battle line broadside to do so when I can keep my speed away from a enemy because its alot easier to hit

  6. Not the only one. Now if they add the ability to save designs, design more than one ship, and design the enemy side Custom Battle would have far more appeal to me.

  7. We tested gpt-2 in early stage of Clerk development, we are even invited in the beta special closed access of gpt thanks to advances of the clerk (and love it) But for the game the Clerk system is much more powerful: much more narrow scope, but much more better writing as a result. We see a lot of potential for other games and developers, and this could be a middleware for the future.

  8. And moar for miss pitty, mostly smaller details than anything large or imposing, will do the crane, more rigging, other smaller bits, ladders for turrets, binos for look outs and anchors (will probs have to adjust the hull mesh for anchors). More radars and other smaller bits. Ill also do that other pre-dread as well which i forgot and do her stats as well if they aren't already done yet.

  9. Captains. National news section has been amazing but its time for it to move to Steam. Steam is a good place and might be even better for this. We want this forum to be purely development one and relate only to projects in early development. Section will close down next week.

  12. I don't use random battles AT ALL, as I have ZERO interest in fighting battles without objectives/broader context. Which means I am one person who is entirely in favour of the Campaign being done. Indeed, without the campaign I've no interest in the game any longer until they make the changes that really are of great importance, which is to say the underlying mechanics (as many of us have been saying for 6+ months). So for me the ONLY things I want are the campaign and major overhaul of the core mechanics that clearly are incomplete/missing entirely. Of those, I'd rank the

  15. @InkThis topic doesn’t belong in this thread but i dont know any other way of reaching out to you. My ingame name at the moment is ‘DespeSukaBlyat’, which is an insulting name for the player Despe as he made clear. I want to change my name but to do that the name change cooldown timer needs to be reset. Is there any option of doing this? Kind Regards, Je Maintiendrai/Despe “ “ PS: I also sent ingame e-mail to playername 'Ink'.

  21. Is it intentional that this link is identical to the Naval Action Discord link? nvm Shouldn't Dreadnoughts have its own server though? Like This Land Is My Land. The TLIML and UA: AoS communities have such a different tone to the NA community (SP vs MMO natural differences). Dreadnoughts deserves the same opportunity.

  22. Goals: UAD discord is not a replacement for UAD forums. But a supplement. Some players prefer live conversation, and this would be very useful in terms of live (somewhat) support especially for common issues (like payment issues) Goals of the discord Main goal : Support with technical and game issues Other goals: Live discussions on gameplay and historical issues. The discord server is raw but will grow and improve over time. https://discord.gg/wUYafUG

  23. Agreed. IIRC, for some of the "all forward" designs, like the Nelson class, this design was specifically chosen in order to shorten the citadel.

Well, going from Rule the Waves 2, as the UK in 1920, comparing the ships I can build (25 knots, 4 twin turrets, immunity zone from 14 to 24 k km) Armed with 14" guns: 35,000 tons, 122.3 millions Armed with 15" guns: 40,600 tons, 140.7 millions Armed with 16" guns: 46,100 tons, 160 millions (US ships, since the UK doesn't have 16" guns) Armed with 18" guns (UK, bad quality, so armor for equal quality guns is a bit of a guess but should be in the correct ballpark): 63,000 tons, 218.4 millions So going from 14 to 15 inch guns adds 5,500 tons. 26. The game claims that it is intended to be REALISTIC. All this "angling" and "bow tanking" is bullshit most people "learn" from WoWS. It has ZERO place in a game attempting to provide any sort of 'realistic' recreations of the realities of large gun naval warfare. There are reasons you DON'T read about ships sitting still or going slowly ahead then astern when in naval combat. It also follows that if there are advantages to either of those behaviours then THE GAME'S MECHANICS ARE FLAWED compared with the realities of the period. If this (or any other game) REWARDS that sort of ga

  28. You move there, others move to discord, others move to steam, others move to fan pages, others... others... others... If someone planned to damage game-labs by dispersing the playerbase, he could not have come up with a better idea than closing parts of this unified place, the original forum. ^^

  29. Last I looked over there I was banned, not even sure why. I think that's the idea though right? Ban someone they simply just can't create another persona.

  30. I hope they will include the Seven Years' War, 1754–63 in North America (like a mini campaign or extension.). I loved that UGCW is not graphically hungry and can be played on any PC or gaming tablet, and I hope it will stay that way. I also hope that the multiplayer mode will be present this time around (co-op included). This last point is what UGCW is terribly lacking, but this is only my personal opinion.

  31. Newspapers - steam (as community news posted to all users) will be 10x more interesting and profitable for the creators. As we can post best newspapers to steam news (making all owners and all wishlists to read it) Recruitment is better done through discord or on steam as most vulnerable players are there (they just came to the game and need help and ready to join). This forum is not ideal to get them recruited. Ship videos are better on Facebook and Steam (in news section) as again - they will serve multiple audiences there. But they only serve one audience here.

  32. Sad. Forum is such a lively place. Steam discussions suck in comparison. I actually don't understand why studios give up their own forums and redirect travel to Steam. Less enjoyable, less practical, bad to navigate around. Trouble with attaching pictures, data..., no referencing in game to forum posts. In the sum, disadvantages everywhere. But I have seen it before. Keen Softwarehouse (Space Engineers, Medieval Engineers) let their forum die and made a readable archive out of it. Same move: to Steam, their support platform and discord instead. I think this move is costing more

  33. So, no more newspapers, recruitment, ship videos and other RP which once made the game and the forum great? Steam forums just don't accommodate that kind of stuff very well. Why not revive this plan?:

  45. hi devs, as you have ranked several nations in terms of difficulty, a lot has changed since those difficulties were set. if GB, USA are deemed easy perhaps they should have a 55 point unconquerable port? then at least new players are on the same footing as nations deemed hard, since currently on the map the nation ranked "impossible" is currently the easiest as they own 2/3 of the entire map.

  46. Am in late Brit campaign, the point where the bills start stacking up with all those SoLs. Last night looked closer to understand better what exactly all the costs are. Learned a few things which may be helpful: Ship Costs. Class specific, of course, but range from roughly 1200 for a 5th-rate up to 3500 for a 1st-rate. Ardent-class 3rd-rate (most numerous SoL) about 2100, while Bellona runs just below 2500. Merchant troopships run from about 500 for the small 2-slot to 1300 for the large one. (these are rounded ballpark numbers, not exact to the penny). Trophy ships cost half-
