  1. Barrack ships in Portsmouth. Many veterans of the Age of Sail were used as barrack ships well into the 20th century, a practice that insured the survival of some, including USS Constitution and HMS Victory.

  4. Weapons firing while badly listing and/or sinking… Water should be pouring in and flooding the casemates deck but as you can see, somehow the crew are still at their stations and even managing to firer off their gun! All the barrels are pointing into the ocean but somehow the shells still fly! ditto for when the barrels are aiming at the clouds, though they can still firer they shouldn't be on target.

  5. Gentlemen, also this year we will have an "Impossible Gunboat Mission" public event on PvE Server. This time it will be even more desperate as we will not direct our fearless gunboats against a single First Rate, no, this time we will engage a full HomeDefenseFleet, formerly known as Privateer Fleet! To make this possible at all, MDRA will use a disposable First Rate + Second Rate (both unarmed) to tag the HDF in Dutch Waters. Contestants in their gunboats (free choice what wood and upgrades) will join this battle and try to achieve as many hull hits as possible on any HDF ship they

  7. Not only after but actually during the era. Officers and enlisted men had to go through a "barracks ship" to get accustomed to the place, drills, space, routines, etc before setting on a cruise, no matter how short. Also many post Napoleon I wars RN men did serve their first commissions aboard the Victory at anchor, and other similar hulks. Simulating gunnery ( no powder, just the drills ), etc. Very cool photo.

  9. This first mission will keep returning until you complete it (no decline option). As you cannot get damaged in that mission it is actually easy. Just try to do as much damage as requested in hull, sails and crew on enemy ships. At the end, you get a reward. It shows you what is expecting you much later in game. So you know it is not only the basic cutter in which you find yourself after this entry panorama is done.

  10. You must pass this mission to join the game. And you must fight in this mission. It’s a test if you have a seaman in you. Peace server has combat too but not against players.

  11. That heavy 5th rate DLC is Trinco. Our unwillingness to buy more DLC ships also has to do with our limited parking space (30 if you have the admiralty connection dlc) and book slots (you always want to sail the ship with the most unlocked book slots for pvp). It’s almost certain that new dlc ships will generate less and less revenues for Naval Action, which is concerning. When the devs made the decision to use dlc ships as a mean to fund their programmers and continued development of Naval Action, I saw this potential issue. Now, without DLC ships, how can this game be funded now? Lowing the p

  13. Je ne suis pas convaincu pour le craft des canons. SI tout le monde utilise des Navy Guns, c'est comme si personne n'en avait. C'est leur rareté qui fait l'attrait, selon moi.

  14. Old one, extremely limited editor. AI generating gunbarges as cruisers and speedboats as ironclads. Gunbarges and speedboats in general. It isn't normal, nor pretty, when they field a 30 heavy turrets cruiser abomination like it's From the Depths. They often tend to go for extremities, maximum possible speed with tiny guns or just all the guns that physically can fit onto the hull, probably even violating the mass restriction. Magically unhittable enemies, to the point when your guns somehow shoot literally backwards if the magic enemy is too close. Yes still happens. Shells go where

  15. With the current iteration of the game armour tends to make the biggest difference so i trend towards that. Having certain guns being a little bit OP (looking at you 9" and 12" guns) also doesnt help since some calibres are straight up useless compared to the smaller guns. But even so my playstyles from other games does impart some of its character here and I prefer tankier/tougher vessels putting on maximum armour before sticking on the largest/best guns possible. With lighter/faster vessel classes its all about harassing and screening the main fleet. Cutting off or forcing the enemy tow

  17. This is stupid. The prices are astronomical. Believe it, or not, there are people who don't play this all day. The cost of crafting a simple Fir/Bermuda Surprise just went from 28,224 to well over 200,000 with the seasoned woods, minimum. Add mods, etc., and you're spending the whole day trading or grinding. Bigger frigates are 500K...and 1st rates? Forget it. Why do devs continually make HUGE changes to a game that used to be fun to play? Whose voices are driving this? I'm forced to download DLC ships, I guess. I'd much rather craft them, but don't want to spend all of my

  19. One of the biggest problem with armor in game right now is it weighs barely a quarter of what it did historically. For example, the Algerie class has a belt armor of 110mm at a weight of about 1500 tons (and is around Krupp III equivalent) whereas 110mm of Krupp III belt armor in game weighs significantly less on an in game Heavy Cruiser, to the extent where you could slap multiple extra main battery guns on board to make up that deficit. This is imo the main reason AI ships tend to have so many guns. Armor simply does not weigh enough. This is also why in game Heavy Cruisers of even 12k

  25. You want a proposal? Make it possible to tow a ship with cargo to ports. Especially on PvE server. Give us crafting xp by crafting random stuff, not only ships. Give us ships like we used to have: the more we invest, the better the ship. We don't like, how mentioned before, to craft a Lo(s) Wo(s) ship just to get only 3 upgrade slots and no bonus. We used to have purple ships if we invested more stuff. Green/grey if we invested minimum stuff.

  27. I suggest we have improved crafted cannons seperated according to cost in Labour hours per gun.; dubs and even reals. Grey, Bronze, Silver and Gold qualities: Basic; guns Grey - same as long guns in game now. Level 1; guns Bronze - 5% improved accuracy and penetration, and -5% reduction in load time. Cost + 10% Reals, Dubs (0-10 dubs per gun) and 10% increase in LHs, Iron ore and Coal. Level 2; guns Silver - 8% improved accuracy and penetration, -6.25% reduction in load time. Cost +15% LHs, Reals, Dubs, Iron ore and Coal. Level 3; guns Gold (Top Tier) - 10-12% accur

  28. Trading proposals Trading change rationale Make the gameplay better and fairer Trading current version and whats wrong You have to sit in the port for a long time to buy the goods. Everyone takes the players with a lot of windows and free time. Proposal on trading change Each player has from 0 to MAX trading agents (MAX at maximum rank and kraft level). Trading agent is delivered to the national port and buys one position, sends reports via in-game mail. Agent's work and rental of a temporary warehouse costs money. Everything delivered to the po

  32. The war server is far from having a "little danger" and if you join the wrong nation, consider yourself screwed. Can changes be made to inform new players on the realistic choices they have when picking a server and nation? If I could have first joined the game I would have picked a different nation but you don't realize these things until it's too late and you have too much time dedicated and no logical reason to buy a DLC that doesn't support or help encourage the game to become better other than encouraging zerg. Instead how about "War server is perfect if you don't always want a hardcore t
