  1. I think the Frontlinesystem woud be much better with a simple change: The order of capturing Ports. The attacker has to capture 50 % of the small Ports before he can attack the Main Port Santa Domingo as a Example: The Attacker woud need to capture Azua, Bani and El Soco before he coud attack Santa Domingo. Conquering a region woud basicly escalate from 2 or 3 10'000 BR Battles into a Big finale 25000 BR First Rate Battle. This woud make Portbattles more diverse. Currently, if a Nation takes the Mainport, the losing Faction will likely not defend the smaller Ports anymore (if they

  2. Yesterday my fir fir Very Fast 3 sail port bonus Trinc outfiitted with carros and carrying only 3x reps was run down by two Wasas. Granted, I had yet to open any slots on the Trinc and had no super speed mods installed, but this just isn’t balanced.

  3. Yes. I wish they would have combined the two methods. If you had the raw materials and the labor, you could click craft and get the ships in one step but an intermediary could craft and sell you the crafted components saving you the labor and providing a labor role for those who either can’t or choose not to build ships.

  4. Saw a Pandora being chased upwind by a Wasa today. That's mad. I suspect the Wasa was fir/fir (there are a lot of these about, which tells it's own story). This ship has probably long sailed but I don't think the balance is quite right. I have no problem with the Wasa in terms of balancing when compared to other 3rd rates and it should have it's uses, but a 5th rate interceptor should not be one of them. I didn't see the end result but it's not much fun being out paced by a ship 3 classes higher. I see no point in sailing a teak/wo Agga when a fir/fir Wasa is superior in virtually every way.

  7. I'm glad to see I am not the only one concerned about the ridiculously fast Wasa's. I tried looking up on the max speed a Wasa (Vasa) was capable of but could never really find anything. Personally, I am tired of the Fir/Fir meta. At least try to balance this out, especially for the higher rate of ships.

  10. I found these pictures of the 18th century Venetian machine gun made by a German re-enactment group from an example they found in a museum. The weapon was built with sea use in mind although historically it mainly saw action around 80 years after its creation in the Italian wars of unification.

  11. please no This will only punish the players again which sail a normally built lineship. They are now already slower than they were in reality. There was a suggestion that certain wood combinations should not allowed for lineships, so the problem would be eliminated. Instead of nerfing everything, just because some player stack mods and use wood types which were never used for that in the reality.

  24. It does make sense for a trade ship to not want to aggressively chase and instead try to escape.

  25. Delivery missions and trade trips become very tedious after a while. Why not make them more interesting? The occasional floating barrels/chests/wreckage, containing worthwhile, varied booty would be one suggestion. The sighting of these could be announced by a shout from the ship's lookout. Also, port-to-port trading should be made more profitable, in my opinion, so that once again, it becomes a worthwhile pursuit.

  33. My thing is I live the true pirate life in game....I sail (sneak) into any port in the game. I attack run and hide. I sell stolen cargo from boarded ships. I buy repairs in enemy ports then camp outside that port to steal and rob more stuff! I have more fun than I ever have. To live this pirate life of mine I sail the trader snow.....yes it IS a bad ass ship after all. But I'd love to have a bigger one that still could go into the shallows.....otherwise bring on the Indiamen refit😉😁⛵

  34. Indiaman Refit... with bow and stern guns... swivel guns on the weather deck and bow. Would sport and additional deck of 9 pounders above the 18 pounders, and can run Carronades up to 42 pounds on the main deck. She would sport 2000 hold space. She would sport a crew of 400, and be a 4th rate ship as she wouldn't fill the historical criteria for a 5th rate or a 3rd rate. Price... 24.99

  36. I'd like to see greater interaction between the players of a faction and their ports. I've seen a few people commenting on the idea of delivering resources to a port in order to keep it functioning. Which, sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to add, it'd give solo players a thing to do in exchange for a decent reward. (Subjective, I know.) And, would place heavy-emphasis on the faction cooperating and working together in order to combat hostile neighbours. I feel as if that's something we are lacking, especially in major factions such as Great Britain. Perhaps it'd also encourag

  37. Maybe at the beginning will be a few same ships's called but for example in the Spanish Navy we have more than 100 ships names that we can use it, and in a future(like the devs are doing with the paints) will be added more historial names or, players proposal names that the devs admit it like no offensives

  38. I can see this is already likely in progress... thanks for the paints by the way and I look forward to the rest of the year playing naval action. P.S. Not to be too nosey but... are their more ships designs in the making? I know we already have a lot... but hey, why not ask right?

  42. So, this’ll be a bit long. Apologies. I’m an Age of Sail buff, an avid gamer, and I work as a writer for a tabletop wargame company. I can’t easily count how many times I’ve read the various novels by O’Brian and Forester and Williams (just to name a few). O’Brian is decidedly my favorite, so I’m a realism buff in a big way. Also, I’ll probably draw a lot of examples from the O’Brian books since odds are good you folks have read them too. Now, as I say, realism is very key for me, but I’ve also been playing video games since I was a wee tiny thing in front of an Apple II+. So, I know

  43. Yes, morale is a big deal. I think it's a good place for a significant mechanic, particularly if you go with the crew allocation suggestion. A ship with high morale can shift crew from sails to guns and back relatively quickly. Low morale is going to be slower. Also, it's a good place to sink money. A well-found ship with plenty of stores is going to have a higher morale than a ship that scrimps every dime. Sid Meier's Pirates had a very interesting mechanic for morale. I don't remember it perfectly, but the longer you kept your men in service, the lower the morale got until you were force

  44. S! Adair. Good read. I think crew rating is very important indeed. It should be such that it makes a difference, but still gives a skilled captain chances. In other words, even a skilled captain can make a victory with a lesser crew. If his tactics and decisions are superior he could do it. And a captain with the finest crew should get in trouble if he makes an awful mistake. Though a ship with high level crews should be able to deal better with these mistakes than a ship with a lesser crew. In the stand alone battles of the game this could all be set in the game options by the game h
