Just been fooling around with my Twitch stream overlay to add a bit of character to my sea adventures Because Naval Action UI is dynamic and changes in the OW, Battle Instance and when you aiming, this overlay only works in Battle Instance sailing. I just have to switch it off in OW. Will make another one later that fits OW too.

  3. With the other proposed sets of kick starter packs being thrown about I thought I might make my turn to do a Venetian one, mainly with the aim of providing some things that are a little bit different to what we already have and what the other proposed packs are offering. I will also start by saying that these are my personal suggestions after a good think, if there is a ship that is missing from this group I would more than gladly discuss swapping a ship or adding any others. Polacca (c1750) Adding a Polacca to the game gives the devs two nice options, one they can have a new

  5. Honestly, who cares how many views you get or who is watching. If you enjoy doing it do it. On the main subject, I like the concept you have. I might have gone with a more worn wood look. Gold lettering for the buttons and the typeface as if done in quill and ink. Although I would have gone with as small of a panel as possible. Minimize the amount the UI blocks of the game itself.

He fell gravely ill at the time he was starting on the 3rd volume and asked his long time friend and fellow member of the Massachusetts Historical Society, retired Army Colonel William Roscoe Livermore (whose pic you see to the left) to finish it for him. This three volume set stands out from most works on the Civil War in several ways. It was the first work to include topographical maps. At the time, it w

The funny part of it is that the majority of players that will stick to Global don't give a rats ass about what this salty forumer Global server hello kittyers ( yeah you read it right ) keep preaching with their hate towards the EU server decision. What they are accomplishing, in my point of view is alienating themselves more and more to a corner while trying to make everyone around feel bad for some sorry reason. Ridiculous and childish. Let the damn thread flow until we are fed up with it sound like a good compromise until NN is finally reformed as announced a while ago. Then

  13. I haven't figured out an exact formula, but from my experience, the optimal min-max size of infatry brigades is between 1400 and 1500. Why? 1. You want the brigade to be large enough to be able to resist large charges, deploy large detached skirmishers, and avoid being shattered. 2. You want it to be close to 1250 so that you can combine brigades after taking some casualties. 3. You want it to be small so the rewards are adequate to keep your fighting force effective and also to prevent auto-scaling. 4. The weapons and officers availability (doesn't scale to your army s

To piggy back off of John Snow's (your old name was better) bounty thread found here: I've decided to throw a bunch of paints, labor contracts and notes on a ship and sail around encouraging everyone to try and sink/capture their favorite American captain. I'll of course announce in global when and where and stream my progress. Type of ship and build will of course remain super secret. This will be done most of the day Saturday and maybe Friday night. I'm shipping more stuff down now, sweeten the pot a bit. To my special snow flake friends, time to sink the guy who everyone ha

  17. My plan for a new CSA play through is to keep only 1 corps stacked and to disband any troops not used in a grand battle. In theory, not only will this keep the AI from scaling like crazy, it will really improve the quality of the "bank" troops. I have done a half dozen playthroughs with 2 good corps, both min and max size, but I'm curious how this approach will work.

  18. not as bad as the exploits you can do as the Confederates with the phase shifting. 1. You can move units from Prospect Hill to the left and they'll appear in the 3rd phase (Marye's Heights and Telegraph). If you're a minimized army player, this can compensate for a lack of a good third corps. 2. You can move units from Marye's Heights to Telegraph Road to increase the number there for the last phase (where they'd be useless otherwise at Marye's Heights). Then you can spawn camp all the Union units that come from Marye's Heights.

  19. In the early and mid game the economics of the game favor those that have these medium sized brigades. By that I mean given the number of officers and guns available in the shop, it's often hard to outfit very large brigades. However, at some point in the campaign there is a tipping point where having large armies won't hurt you anymore. The number of brigades is set, but the AI is maxed out at 2950.

  21. That's a long list! I'd still like to see the Cruizer/Snake (two ships, one hull!) on the list. I have plans for that one if you need them posted. One correction, the draught of HMS Cyane you have listed as a 32-gun frigate is actually an 18-gun Bittern-class quarterdeck sloop modified by Chapelle into a War of 1812-style appearance. Chapelle had the wrong Cyane when he was writing his book, he was supposed to get the draught for the proper 26-gun Banterer-class post ship, not the smaller 1790s Cyane.

I'm not American so the ACW was not something I came across naturally, like in school or conversation. But for Christmas 2015 my girlfriend gifted me 14 books in total, one of them just happened to be Bruce Catton's A Stillness at Appomattox. I was a bit put off by the fact that it was the third book of a trilogy and that I wasnt familiar with that period of history but once I started reading, I couldnt stop. He tells the story of the final years o

I want my m

Antietam - the Soldier's Battle by John M Priest = great book with tremendous amount of maps showing placement of regiments at different places 2. Co. Aytch - by Sam Watkins = tremendous book by a soldier of the 1st Tennessee Regiment who fought at Manassas and then with the Western army for the rest of the war. Many insights of the common soldier and a lot of humor - written for his kids 10 or so yea

  33. I think this is the simplest way to do things. The reason I want something like an artillery division or cav division is more so I could move them quickly in a group during battle. It isn't an issue to spread them out but most of the time I like to concentrate my corps artillery at a good spot. Would be simpler if I could have it as a division, even if I only get 2 of 4 brigades in a scenario.

The 28 gun, sixth rate frigate was the smallest vessel of the Royal Navy to meet the definition of a Frigate. Vessels carrying 20 or more guns, but less than 28 guns were classed as sixth rate Post Ships. The Coventry Class was a group of 19 small frigates designed by Sir Thomas Slade, Co-Surveyor of the Navy at the time, of which nine were built in Kent shipyards. The Coventry Class were built in four batches. The first batch of four ships were all ordered in

  36. I don't cry on the forums about losing a ship, I just don't want stuff implemented that is going to increase the amount of shitty fights. I care more about the wasted time fighting something that isn't fun instead of actualy losing. My gaming time is limited, and last thing I want to do is spending a whole night getting insta sunk or having to run from a battle, where I could have a ton of good battles. The game is about fun, and the more fun people are having the more they will log on, and the more people will see reviews and play the game. No timers is not going to do that.

  39. Its interesting that the answer almost avoided the question, I suppose because draft has very little affect on speed and it is much more to do with design. The over enthusiasm to speed being determined by length is a little foggy though, especially as hogging of ships that are too long has a pretty drastic effect on speed as it distorts the hull lines and throws out dynamic efficiency. Really draft has little to no effect at all and the important thing here is the design, material and construction strength, paired with how well a ship is loaded and where its centre of mass is. Because i like knowing that, when i tag something/get tagged on the OW, only the ships i can see will be in the battle? - To me it is no fun that i can be in an awesome little battle and then 20 minutes into it, the enemy has 10 ships join the fight. If you want 25v25 you can do port battles, if you want 25v25 you can gather 25 ships and sail in a fleet. If you sail like that in the right places you will usually get yourself a 25v25. And thats not it! You can also d
