  4. Craftable cannons are a natural extension of the crafting system, especially since the carriages are an infamous plague that needs to be eradicated. When it comes to expanding hold space of warships, crew size should be the most important factor. Ideally we would have a Crew/Cargo slider and Guns/Cargo slider. The Guns slider would partially arm gundecks (allowing 2-18 carronades on a trader's brig, for example). A ship could carry a full battery of guns without sacrificing too much cargo space, but with a reload rate penalty (since the gundeck would be encumbered with cargo) and limite

  5. These were port exchanges following the treaty I think so, I think the main misunderstanding is that the dutch were considering that technically they were still allied with us, asked for a confirmation from the french counci, never got a clear yes or no answer from us so in the end they considered that we had cancelled this alliance. Did we cancel it? I don't know, while the war was going on, we were just that => at war and didn't get the time to talk much about that. No big deal in the end

  6. The "Teleport to Capital" exists to get any player unstuck from a bad situation, like being stranded in a far away land. Other than that keep a Outpost slot open to cover emergencies when going into enemy territory without any nearby outpost. I do not see any need to change the current system.

I just find it interesting because of its Habsburg chin style bow. I don't know much about the design but perhaps some people here might be able to enlighten me, its Venetian by the way Here you go, model and plan included.

  16. I think this thread is headed in a better direction.... EVERY faction has a few members/clans that make fellow members cringe every time they open their mouth... Its amazing how much more fun the game is when you get a "good fight" or "better luck next time" after a fight as opposed to some shit-talking child rubbing your face in it, whether you won or lost. Again, the reason many of you are starting to see some of us yanks down in your area is that we have run into much the same with the Spanish.. Having fought the same people over and over again, things just build and build until people

  18. I have always disagreed with ahistorical balance for the sake of gameplay. Instead prefering gameplay mechanics that make the ships fit in all of their accurate glory. Don't nerf the ship. Or how can you see it fight in all of it's glory and see how different match ups would have worked for real. What would Victory be like vs the Connie for instance. We would have to say.. sorry in this game you cannot portray this match up. They played with the stats for the sake of gameplay. This game is just another World of War clone. Nothing interesting here. I would prefer a gameplay mechanic like

  21. Are you a confused real-life sailor? I sail, and I don't have to rely on the little tail of the arrow to see where the wind direction is. I don't see an arrow, I just see a line. And it's always obvious which end is which. If you get disoriented by a full 180 degrees without this arrow, then you have major situational awareness issues. I think real sailors might be annoyed by the failure to follow convention, but they can figure it out. It's non-sailors who would be confused by the authentic arrow, if anyone.

  23. I think you are speaking from your experience with small marconi-rigged yachts here. It takes a hell of a lot of wind to put a large square rigger at risk of broaching, and they have nothing to fear from a beam wind. The ships do have polar diagrams, with proper reductions in speed for sailing with the wind aft. Many historical square riggers did just as well with the wind after as they did sailing large, however. There is no apparent wind in the game, to keep things simpler from a gameplay and programming standpoint. And apparent wind is less important for a large heavy warship

We won't see a spike like we did with the Steam launch again. It's just the way things go in all games. We might as well have the highest population possible at the moment and deal with queues if more than 2200 people ever decide to play all at once again. /rant

  27. Hi Devs! Don't you have anyone on the team with some sailing experience? I have been sailing for 14 years, could not help but notice the following departures from the real life: 1) Wind direction arrow should be pointing to where the wind is coming FROM, not the where it is blowing to! That's the convention for all marine instruments. Your indicator must confuse the hell out of real-life sailors. Also, is it "true" or "apparent" wind? I think you show true, but in that era only apparent could be available to the captain. Consider recalculating it (adding vectors of wind's speed and ship's

  28. Timers seem to be an exclusive problem with the in-game US. There are US players in every ingame nation and we operate fine. Im from the east coast timezone in the US and i wouldnt care about the US timers if they didnt run their mouths and say people are going full retard for criticizing an underhanded tactic that takes pvp away from their own players. Not only that, how do you think SORRY shitwrecked your nation the first and second time? They took UNDEFENDED ports in the middle of the night because no one was awake to defend them at the times YOU set them. Last i checked defending is easy,

  29. Yea, much shorter with PvP than PvE, so even buried deep, an enemy fleet that is left alone by players will take along time build up hostility. I think that may be a strategic mistake on the part of the developers, that choosing to ignore player fleets in your waters to prevent the climbing of hostility is a potential strategy. Ignored fleets should devastate the target, not be less effective. I think the Devs should consider a mechanic that seen PvE hostility start off less effective, but escalates to being more effective if left alone. Perhaps after a certain level of hostility

  34. You got it right, mate! Many thought that the old alliance was long and forgotten after quite a few new weeks of fighting in the second French-Dutch war, until it was conveniently used in the diplomatic talks by Kierrip. No hard feelings to that, as it was something that was certainly a loose end. But it certainly did not reflect the way things were and also how both nations felt. He cancelled it, even though we were prepared to reinstall it. Next we know it was on the table again, and then off the table again, and so forth. Not something that should be left unattended for sure. We a

  35. Not really and two things would help out a lot, even if I do not sail IRL. 1. Jib power/depower control dettached from the rest 2. One more step of sail with only courses and mizzen and no staysails up ( if it makes any sense for a age of sail combat ship )

  36. This game is built around port capture. That is fine but there should be other types of objectives. Possibly that safe transport of goods from one port to another. Players could travel to enemy territories to try to stop it. Players on the transport sorties have to take transport ships from one port to another. If they have to leave the game they can leave the ship in an intermediary port. Some other player can sail it to the next port. Enemy players would patrol the route looking for the transport ships to engage. Transports are announced when at sea. Freindly players have to

I can only assume this word "Surrender" is a Spanish word...my Spanish is not so good...I will see if Google Translate can help Ah yes...here is the translation : Surrender (origin "Sorry End") - Meaning : To no longer have your own flag or pride but instead do the bidding of thieving Pirate gits overlords ....ah I see...you are trying to recruit... (obviously just joking around...in case there is a language barrier to my lowly whit). See you on the Oceans sir.

  41. I concur with this. The large majority of NA players now and to come - I have no statistics but it's pretty much guaranteed, and I would venture a guess at 80% or greater - are not seasoned and serious sailors like the OP. They're gamers. For that contingent, it's much more direct and sensible to show the wind in-game exactly like it is now. This isn't a real-world simulator, why make it harder for the gamers than it should be? (even if it's more true to life as pointed out). There's lots of discussions on the forum about what is good gameplay versus realism, this is another good example

  44. Negative, I make 3 accounts and farm currency from 3 Nations and eventually break the game. It must be based on effort and time spent fighting in each hostile zone. The more time you spent and damage dealt on that character the bigger are the chances you will make into PB. This should eliminate dual boxing or use of multiple accounts for Conquest cheating.

  45. That answered some questions. How I see zones are being created. 1. Select target Port. Start sinking NPCs (We do it all the time, and I see no harm in this. Fleets create small amount of hostility contribution points at the start). 2. Create Hostile zone and bring attention (map marker appears) Add bell or Trumpet sound to Defender(Nation who is under attack) Player Screen and let them know it's time to defend their country! Similar to Black Desert Online. 3. Wait for Defender arrival. (Steal wind prepare to pvp fight). Hit them hard as they start entering the zone. Defender wil

  48. 1+2. It will reduce PvP. Gank fleets will be more effective: - EG. Fight happens on OW. One team gets reinforcements to wait outside battle - When the winning team gets out of battle they have no chance due to Crew loss. The reason why crew is replenished after battle atm is so we can PvP. Still, it sounds interesting!. 3. Minimum crew on a ship would be what? Enough to man the sails? (Like, 50% of max people on Sail?) - EG; Santi needs 200 crew to fully man Sails. Minimum Crew will be 100? ____________________________________________________________________________________
