  1. Well, maybe at the beginning of the add option: the second nation And then put on the mast flags such nations? I think at the beginning it would be a good solution. Sorry, poor writing in English.

  3. The problem is the most visible in SoL fights, due to their immense firepower. When you rake someone's masts with doubles, you're pretty much guaranteed to take at least one mast off. In frigate fights, it seems to be more balanced, due to their lesser firepower. I feel like the masts need hp boost (ever since the armor hp boost), but the problem lies elsewhere. For me the major issue is ability to demast with ball at long ranges, 1km even. Damage to masts should be only effective at closer ranges, similar to damage to hull which only starts to be effective below 600 range. Issue numb

  5. With the reset close approaching, I'm saying a tearful goodbye to my trusty friend, the BellePoule "HMS Phoenix". Hand in hand with this ship, I've been to hell and back. No matter the situation- whether or not I'm grinding a few traders or desperately running from a Vic-Bellona fleet, she's carried me safely to the end. Now, I guess it's time to say goodbye. One last glorious battle, I hope- going down with broadsides firing as a giant Spanish AI feet bears down- or perhaps peacefully be sent to the breaker's yards when the reset comes out. Thank you, HMS Phoenix- and I'll

  6. The single strongest piece of standing rigging on any vessel is the mainstay, which supports the mast from forward and is thicker than your thigh even on a frigate. You can't be serious. You keep referring to games and models as sources of knowledge. Try reading actual sources on for size, or talking to actual square-rig sailors. A highly authentic replica of a French frigate just crossed the Atlantic, and they didn't risk dismasting every time they tacked. The reason for the Hearts of Oak rule is obvious: it's to prevent unrealistic tactics because the movement rules are simplistic and abstrac

  7. For a warship not to have chasers would be noteworthy, almost every ship in the game should have at least a pair of bowchasers, either the normal type pointing straight forward or the 45 degree angled type mounted in the hull to fire at a vessel on your forward quarter. Bucentaure would have a pair on the forecastle, another pair on the upper deck firing through the bulwark and 2 more in the angled leading pair of lower deck gunports (note, all these ports would normally be empty and guns moved as required). Pavel would have a pair on the forecastle like any other SoL but doesn't have angl

Everyone ignores firing on them and they don't fire, but they break up my line and seem to disrupt my troops moving through them. Has anyone else experienced this?

We are not a PvP only group (but we sure do enjoy a decent battle), and are willing to help out new players from the moment they join the game. All you have to do is send us a message. What we can offer to new players is knowledge of the game, protection, good ships and inside traders information. While in the current state of the game being largely combat only, the Dutch Antilles Squadron also has a missio

  15. Hallo an alle neuen Spieler!

  16. Before the craft (maybe to late), before the conquest, the spawn area has to be work in PvP. It's really annoying to play with friends and see some spawing on 75m of ennemy while others teamates are 300 meters away. The correct spaw area we got in sea trials allow us to think before shot and organise a bit our fleet. If you can't spend time to work on nice spawn area with the option: "faster you join, closer you are", could you at least make us spawn per team and not everywhere? To make pvp decent it's really the more important things

  18. Two points about things that would bring more realism... First, there is the manning of guns. Most warships had enough men to fully man one broadside only. There should be an action required to tell the men to man the port or starboard broadside, with a cooldown. And only the manned broadside would reload. Second, a ship of this era was at great risk if under sails while being in irons. Crossing the wind was a risky maneuver that could demast a ship. Shouldn't this be included as well for more realism?

  19. Guys what about let have other countries not included in current version of game (like Portugal, Russia, Poland ,Ottoman Empire, Venice etc...) own a one port (colonial outpost) and let them ally with one of the "main " nations in game ? What do you think about this idea? I know maybe i reply myself but WE really want sail under OWN flag... Hope you understand Cheers Bart

  20. Clewing up the courses is optional, but you can brace yard with the courses set. It just takes more men and more coordination to drag the sheets and tacks around the deck at the precise moment needed. Slower yard rotation above Battle Sails would be nice, of course.

  22. Well, i think i sorta addressed this in my initial comment. The fact that the current ratio of SOL's is unhistorical high, and the frequency of a specific ship is impossible are no arguments why there should be unhistorical nations (although i agree with that statement, that's something that's is slowly being worked on; the introduction of new ships every major patch) The ship system is 'incorrect', so why change the 'correct' nations into 'incorrect' nation just because of the ship system? But, as you nicely mentioned, to each his own, and i think it might be just me who is a bit hard-he

  24. I can tell you how it works, in the case of nvidia they use software to render a 4k image and then display it on the monitor effectively showing a 4k image on a 1080p screen, AMD does it through hardware which means it has less of a performance hit but it is more restrictive.

  25. HMS Caesar was an 80-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 16 November 1793 at Plymouth. She was designed by Sir Edward Hunt, and was the only ship built to her draught. She was also one of only two British-built 80-gun ships of the period, the other being HMS Foudroyant (1798). 27. Curious, in all wargames i have from this era, you can load only one broadside at the same time. You can also see it depicted in the movie Master & commander when they do gunnery training. I still have a scan of wooden ships and iron men rules, it's very clear, one broadside reload only. You can fire both, but only reload one. I remember it being the same in heart of oak miniature wargame rules (can't find them right now... ).

  28. I just cannot see the reason why you would want to implement all those nations that didnt own territory in the caribien to all of sudden have territories in the carribean... I get that its fun to have your own flag in the game, but imagine all +-190 countries in the world wanting their own nation? Besides, it would fragment the playerbase we currently have and we will have in the future. Just wait until the game is in a stage where other parts of the world are implemented, whereas it would be reasonable to add in those nations. I.e. the Mediterranean or the east indies. 30. Yes. There's nothing at all dangerous about having your nose in the wind unless it is blowing a gale. In moderate conditions you can tack all day with no risk. Of course, if you are likely to suddenly be taken aback and put in irons, it is probably because of rough weather. Most ships in this game also come with complements that allow them to fight both sides.

  32. yeah - with double loaded, focus fire and rolling broadside i can guarantee a mast will come down if someone is bow or stern on to me and in range. you just need to be turning ever so slightly when you fire and all rounds hit the sweet spot.

  35. USS Aggressor, 84 guns. I've only had her since the redeemables came out, but she's proved the best ship I've sailed so far (and I intend to hunt down another Pavel post-wipe.) Equipped solely with long guns, she's great for pounding 1st rates at the back of the line and crippling from a distance. Her speed (docked speed of 16.85kt/s) means she outpaces first rates and some frigates. RIP Aggressor :'(

  39. The problem with masting is that it is too effective: You can inflict two cooldowns worth of repairs in one double broadside - you would have to pound his hull forever to achieve the same drain on his repairs. I don't fault anyone for using it but is annoying because instead of sailing your ships we get to play motionless hulks it's especially bad for the lead ship.

  40. As the man in the video says you de-salt it wash all the grit off then remove any areas of bad paint down to the wood, key the whole surface by sanding then build up the layers of paint till you get the desired colour, removal of paint back to wood is only in the bad area's much the same way you do with a steel hull today, you only take off the rusty bits down to metal, treat with a rust proofer then undercoat and topcoat it so yes there would be multiple layers of paint, also when they were looking at the layers of paint given that they would as we do give it multiple coats the inner layers o

You should look up tutorials on youtube etc on how to become a better player. Trust me it does help. I suggest youtubers such as ramjb for help. As for making ships have 10 lives; Just no. 5 is already too many lives for a ship. I would say 3 lives is just fine. 4 is still too many and 2 and 1 is too little.

  42. Yes, for example... Or reserving extra planking for permas, this kind of things. The improved magazine acces and powder monkeys is a good example, as the magazine access should be part of the ship design, while the monkeys are crew members well trained for a specific task.

Cher Capitaines! on this day in 1801, Spanish 74-gun third rate San Genaro (28 26-pounder guns, 30 18-pounder guns, 16 8-pounder guns, crew of 530) was given to France as part of obligation of His Most Catholic Majesty Charles IV after the Third treaty of San Ildefonso (1800). According to this treaty, France was to ensure the establishment of a kingdom in northern Italy under the reign of infante Louis Francis of Bourbon-Parma and support his reign. In return, Spain would be obliged to retrocede Luisiana back to France and give France six 74-gun third rates in good condition. Ship
