Lt_Snyder
Hello fellow sailers, in the map for the keybord, there is a key for mortar. Will be there ships with mortar? I have read the books about Hornblower often and the story in the northern sea with the mortars is awsome. So I hope there will come use for this type of ship (yes I know, a mortar is'nt for ship vs, ship fight, thats why we need quests for it, or something else). Nice greeting Lt_Snyder
Galileus
Both mortars and assaults on fortifications are planned AFAIK.
Leviathan
We tested a mortar brig a few months ago but it was taken out for time being to be reworked. It should be back later.

Lt_Snyder
Juhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu sure, the Mortar isnt for ship fight. He is deadly only for castles, infantry and fortress. If it makes damage vs. fast moving ships its not realistic.... balistic greetings Lt_Snyder
Crankey
The mortar in game was sinking moving ships in 1 to 3 hits, it should have ship to ship fire not above a few 6 or 9 pounders. The mortars were fired when anchored, at stationary targets or area of effect targets (EG a harbour or town, anchored fleet. Its role on the high seas was to run away ^^ ! p.s. they were notoriously un weatherly especially converted merchant brig classes
Lt_Snyder
By the way... the mast is wrong in this picures of mortar ship. The mast was normaly not in the middle of the ship. To compensate the weight of the gun. So it was very difficult to sail this ships with mortar. Horatio Hornblower fan Lt_Snyder

Balck
Was it bad? Too good? Tell us plx Picture spawning into the battle, everyone gets moving but the brig sits still. Just as your guns load, half your armor is gone and two of your masts are down. 30 second later, the last mast goes down, you're left with 1/8 armor. 30 seconds after that, gg. Some other poor sod will get it next. It was beyond OP. It was a tactical nuke. It was between the Bellona and the Victory before it was removed. Those who were on the receiving end of these things will never forget.
