but i like her kinda sleek for an galleon from 1610

Actually, I wouldn't mind making a 3D model of that Galleon at all.  It would be quite fun.

No, the problem is the ship's age.  1610 is way, way too old of a ship to be putting it up against ships from the Napoleonic wars.

It should be ok when they will add economy and exploration. Can be used as trader ship no problem.

I disagree.  I prefer to not mix ships from different time periods.  Galleons were not built anymore in the 1700's.

Did they all vanished from the oceans? :D ex. Did 90 Honda civics vanished in 2015? nope we can still see them on the road. Here is the official timeline from developer 1600-1820.

Sure, I know you like the old galleon.  Hell, I like that old galleon and want to make a 3D model of it for a long time now.  I've had those very blueprints for years now.

However, I don't agree with Naval Action having such a broad time scope.  It goes against my sense of fairness and historically accuracy to see galleons  from the 1600's vs Napoleonic ships from the early 1800's.

And yes, if you ask me, then galleons were all gone by 1800.  Wood ships don't last that long.  Your example of 90's Honda Civics still being on the road in 2015 would be a more accurate example if you ask about the Ford Model-T cars and trucks on the roads right now, or steam engine trains on the railroads.  Even those two examples are from a shorter time span than 1600 to 1800.

So, no way am I going to go through the long time (approximately 3 months working part time on a 3D model ship) to make a really great galleon model, only to find out that ship is actually not going to be put in the game.  I would also advise others to also not start on any galleons in fact.

She could be classified as an English Race built I suppose, but the plans are taken from the famous Stockholm Galleon of 1610. http://www.modelships.de/Stockholm_Galleon/Photos-Stockholm-Galleon_whole_ship.htm

I have her in my ERAS2 mod.  https://www.flickr.com/photos/49225014@N05/

Edit: Also she would never be referred to as "British". Before 1714 the term "British" didn't exist in reference to a nationalistic apellation. She would be English. It was the official union with Scotland that caused the new nationalistic brand "British" to emerge.

@Destraex: Well if a segment of this game were going to be set during the Golden Age or you could choose what era you wanted to play in the answer is YES.

Scotland actually had a very powerful navy at one time. Their navy under James IV was more powerful than England's. Scotland's warships were as good as any ships afloat during the Golden Age.

The Great Micheal was one of the largest, grandest ships of her time. Some historians say that she was the largest ship on earth at the time of her launching: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_%28ship%29

Variety is such a beautiful thing.

EDIT: I stand correct on the date. I got it mixed up in my mind with the end date for the War of Spanish Succession in 1714. The Act of Union, uniting Great Britain and Scotland took place in 1707.

Probably not an original idea but thought I'd ask anyway:

→If decided not to have it sail within the game, couldn't the hull alone be modeled without sails, to be used as hulk, beached wreck or something similar within the game?

Some other older models that wouldn't make it in the game as sailing ships, these could be put to use for "decor" in similar ways.

Not sure if such models could be of lesser "finish" and thus easier to create? (Thinking that it might not be worth all the modeling time if only for use as "decor")

PS Hat off to all you modelers. I can only dabble in 2D format drawings like flags and such! ;)
