Sella
Nau Principe da Beira Portuguese 44(?) or 54(?) guns 1774 Need info on her. About the guns, sources say that she mounted 44 guns but i counted at least 52. Not to be mistaked with the Princesa da Beira: http://threedecks.org/index.php?display_type=show_ship&id=7891 Sources: http://triganices.blogspot.gr/2012/01/nau-princepe-da-beira.html http://marinhadeguerraportuguesa.blogspot.gr/2013_10_01_archive.html http://museu.marinha.pt/pt/exposicoes/exposicaopermanente/SeculoXVIII/Paginas/default.aspx http://3decks.pbworks.com/f/Catalogo+dos+navios+brigantinos+%281640-1910%29+-+Esparteiro.pdf Edited August 31, 2017 by Sella22
Haratik
Ain't she pretty...I am curious whether we have a Portuguese native lurking the forums that can find access to plans from his country or not... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks as if you have two different models here. Something about the stern design... You might be right.I aint so sure to be honest.Information on them was quite scarce and not really clear. Hethwill
Almost a year ago i proposed this same ship along with Principe Real and got the exact references from the navy archives in the picture. They will thank you for having the exact refs for them to bring out for you to study. Accessing them has a fee, copying them has a fee and for commercial use ( of the records, as in books no idea how ti works for a software... ) it has another entire fee, as it is usual in all national records worldwide.

Thank you for letting me know! I guess the fees are a bit generous to access, copy, etc the archives right? I was hoping for someone from Portugal to be able to contribute! Hethwill
I am from here ihihih but won't spend a dime for commercial use. They are open every working day from 10 to 16 ( big issue ). Requests and documentation copying must be ordered in advance in the mornings IIRC. No idea IF they actually can mail them if you live in a distant city but worth a try on your part if you are really into building them, you have their prices/rules there https://arquivohistorico.marinha.pt/docs/norma_reproducao_docs_AH.pdf The ship plans are big and will account for several pages/images. Sella
About how good looking and sexy the ship is on a more serious note he might be getting a warning that the site is infected or something which I highly doubt that it is since I believe the website is state owned and managed

Hethwill
Where are this museum? Ill go to Portugal next April and i like see it You can't miss it if you go to Lisbon, Belém. It is in one of the wings of Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. The archives are in another place though but not far, Cordoaria Nacional, roughly less than aclick away across the gardens but they open late ( 11h iirc )and close early (16h) due to documentation preservation measures. Hethwill
Aye. The archives are excellent and the service is really good but the prices for anything other than studies and academic works ( proven ) are quite expensive.

That's a shame I've actually grown very fond of this ship. Probably my favourite out of the entire shipyard. I might send them an email though.
Hethwill
They are very very helpful and will look up the index and give you the exact entries you will need to consult so you get there and waste as little time as possible.
Sella
There we go boys: Information on how to obtain the plans was given, but let's say that it isn't really a bargain I will consider it though...
