Another "Battle of Devil's Den" this time versus one of the most skilled players of the community known better as Koro.

It is a video made during one of the multiple test battles we had in order to shape up the gameplay for the new patch v1.55.

It can be educating as to how tactics should be executed by observing how Koro carefully advances to take the hills.

Elite tactician Koro punishes a very cautious General at Benner's Hill.

I tried out Benner's Hill with the new patch and it is now a lot more fun than it used to be. The Confederate "nut" becomes a lot harder to crack and you can no longer simply bombard them off the hill. Instead it's a deadly match of trading thousands of men in order to gain small gains the Confederates can finally be outflanked.

Union not so worthless it seems :)

Salty Viking plays as Union vs a "Random" AI personality:

This AI personality seems to behave very cautiously in the first battle. Not bad because the player was waiting on good ground.

In second battle again very cautiously the AI attacks the player, prefers to surround him for phase 3 final attack. Eager to see how it goes:

Salty Viking fights two more battles:

In the first one he manages to hold his ground vs a really very cautious Random AI. In the second he chooses wisely to counter-attack at Benner's Hill and pushes the Confederates norther.

In all his battles the AI fought very conservatively causing more casualties always to the player. In the next engagement, the AI will counter-attack the right flank. Let's see if the AI decides to be more aggressive this time.

DigitalGeneral Plays aggressively vs Cunning AI Union (Unboosted)
In the first battle the player sacrifices quite a lot of troops to push Cunning AI away from the ridges. It is expected that Cunning prefers to give ground in exchange for more inflicted casualties.

In the second battle Cunning AI plays really cautiously and manages to repel DigitalGeneral's attempt to take Cemetery Hill and Culp's Hill. Very interesting battle to watch.

DigitalGeneral attacks the next day from Devil's Den and achieves what Longstreet did not. He managed to seize Round Top and occupy south Cemetery Ridge. Little Round Top remained in Union hands. Casualties were large for both sides.

DigitalGeneral chooses to attack the next day at Round Top area. Wise decision since the territory finally is held but with a heavy casualties toll.

A multiplayer battle between friend Agrippa Maxentius vs Tankofdoom.

Two overaggressive Generals create a quite "messy" and deadly battlefield with lots of frontal assaults and charges. Unfortunately the Union cannot cope into that style of warfare and they are utterly defeated. Good work TankofDoom ;)

DigitalGeneral finishes his campaign that you can find here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6879-new-videos-and-aar-with-patch-v155/#entry155125 with this last battle:

His Confederate army managed to advance through Union left flank but the casualties of the whole battle were many. Final outcome: Confederate Phyrric Victory.

Here is the start of his next campaign, this time as Union vs Dynamic CSA General:

Lord John attacks in the second round but the Union Balanced AI defends very cautiously and effectively the Cemetery Heights.
At the end of the battle the Union charges downhill (!) and drives away Lord John's forces. Crushing defeat is the outcome. Very interested to watch the 3rd round.

3rd round battle finds Lord John in an attempt to flank from Devil's Den. This big battle leads to many casualties and has final outcome a draw:

4th and final round is a huge battle, a Pickett's charge variant in which the AI, wrongly, expected an attack in the flanks and had a weakened center. Costly victory for Lord John which is quite an achievement for a Confederate player.

DigitalGeneral continues his defense vs Dynamic AI CSA. The first battle can be found here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6879-new-videos-and-aar-with-patch-v155/#entry162268

His choice to withdraw to Cemetery Heights (Not historical) was good because the AI had to attack vs his very strong and prepared defensive ground. The AI made an attempt to sneak at his left flank in the 3rd battle but Slocum arrived and repulsed the attack.

This campaign seems to be heading into victory.

Glad to see thehistoricalgamer back into making UGG videos. Here we watch his multiplayer match vs Agrippa Maxentius:

Evaluating the battle, we see a tactical error of Confederates for this map (Ewell's advance) that they did not concentrate forces in one point, so being overstretched and not choosing to charge at some decisive moments, they are gradually defeated.

Here is the version from Agrippa Maxentius POV:
