jodgi
I had the pleasure of visiting Skokloster slott near Uppsala, Sweden this summer. It was all interesting but the weapons collection on the top floor was something I have never even heard of before. This guy, Wrangel, successful warlord for the Swedish king during the nation's most aggressive period (1650), really had a thing for weapons. I know some of you are history buffs so I thought I should share with you: Some "masterpiece" done by a gunsmith more as a show of his abilities than an actual useful... gun(!?): Some reeaaally long guns for mounting on battlements: Shotgun sized handguns. According to the resident historian these were meant to spray incendiary material on the enemy's sails: These shiny swords were official henchmen's swords from German cities. Some of these have been used: A wall full of Danish officer's weapons: They also had brass naval muskets on display, forgot to click at them. If you're in the neighborhood, I highly recommend going. You don't have to be a gun-nut to enjoy such a unique and mostly untouched collection.
