improve the target mod in OP

Recommended Posts

Could we find a better option to engage ennemy ships in OP?

For now its very difficult to have a right timing, most of the time we have to click 2 or 3 times to reset the 20s timer, with bad position, against the wind etc.

An option could be to have to keep 20 seconds the ennemy ship in our circle, then to be able to engage the battle when we want it.

We ll jump directly in battle, like this we really can manage our positioning.

What do you think about this?

The main problem with the positioning (mostly against the AI when they attack you) is the length of the timer. You may have favorable wind to start, but by the time it hits zero they have sailed 3 circles around you. It's not as much of an issue against players. Perhaps lower the timer for the AI? The only way to mitigate it for now is to try and catch the AI sailing upwind toward you so you can control how close they get.

It's true that many time you engage your opponent as far as you can to be sure to tag him. After that, you get 20second to be in good position in regard of wind and more to attack him.

But most of the time after 20sec, you are not in the good position so you "attack" again the ship to get one more 20seconds time to make the nice pull

What verseaux is asking is a better systeme to manage this tag becaue it's annoying to be forced to click several time on attack to be able to get the right pull.

Maybe a 20sec timer that give you the choice when ended to attack or not.

like:

A ship hail b ship

B ships is ennemy

A press attack

Counter start to 20

Counter start to 0, b is still in range to be attack

On any time A can press "space (ofr example) to start the fight.

B know he can be attack now any time because he is still in range of circle and he try to getthe better wind before engagement or he press space to start himself the battle

Personally, I think I would prefer a 5 second timer of something.  Even as a player, it's pretty easy to juke your opponent in 10-20 seconds and steal the favorable wind position from them.
