Ongoing Progression

Recommended Posts

It occurred to me what the developers have in mind to provide goals for players after they have achieved admiral? In Sea Trails once you unlocked the Santi there was nowhere else to go. In OW the same could be true once you get the final promotion. So what comes after? How to keep the challenge going and provide incentives? I am sure there are many new challenges and rewards that could be dreamed up. My initial suggestions would be medals, honors and decorations for achievement's (examples highest damage in battle, number of battles, length of service, wealth accumulated, etc).  These honorary awards would appear after the name i.e. Admiral Lars Member DSO or Sir Donald Kedik or Lord Hugh Jorgin (excuse the flippancy). The list is endless and could be based on the nations actual honors. Depending on the rank an title certain privileges may be bestowed such as the right to the best ships/modules or even ability to have AI escorts on request.

Anyway just thought I would stimulate some ideas for the developers to consider once they have ironed out the mechanics.

The gameplay involving Econ and nation vs nation conflict etc will be more than enough fun for me. Why do we need progression? I've never understood people's need for progression. If the game is good and fun then it should not be required. We will see what they do.

The Developers have made some parallels between business model in NA and guild wars. In guild there is not that much gear grind once you reach max level and what kept most players going, at least the PVP oriented ones was the eternal power-struggle in world vs world. Pretty much an ongoing big PvP battle between servers.

At least for the PvP oriented players the power struggle between nations will probably be enough. Capturing- and recapturing ports. Getting resources and improving major port defenseetc etc
