Viper-5
This game has really got me interested in the age of sail and i have been reading up on it. I noticed that there seemed to be plenty of cases where ships surrendered and they were captured and then reused by the captor. So I was just thinking wether they should be some option to surrender your ship if faced with unwinnable odds. So I propose that if you surrender your ship your crew are dropped off at the nearest port. This would work if your crew could gain experience and so an experienced crew becomes quite valuable. Otherwise I can see many people fighting to the death just to spite their attackers because they can afford to replace their ship. Also since this is my first forum post so I may have done something wrong.
Chromey
the game will need to add exp to crew so that if you need to surrender your goverment/clan can pay to get them back. If you happen to be a solo pirate then yolo your not gonna get your crew back..
Henry d'Esterre Darby
The only place you made a mistake was in not searching for this topic prior to posting. We have a few threads regarding surrender mechanics. They're planned and very similar ideas have been proposed. You're right in that incentive will be needed to encourage ships to strike rather than fight until sunk.
