Alt tracking

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i have this afternoon, i got sunk by a swedish player near kingston. But first i would like to put a context: i was follow by a french player from FR => FrenchFries (after the battle some french player have confirm that it's a sewdish alt), the sewdish requin came right for me not even tagging french fries when he pass by his cercle... i was wondering if it's legit to use your alt to hunt down some trader

Attachement_1 : the french/sewdish alt

Attachement _2: the name of the sewdish874F97E4DB8075DAF7C05D0F932B1E9C5C9126E3A7C3F8F3CFC57B993150BD32F0E537787843F116

As far as I am aware, this is legitimate. But this is why you should ALWAYS run guns on ALL of your ship. otherwise, you're just making my job easier.

but but i must make that one 20K more extra this trip......well geuss what you just made zero cause we sunk all your ships without guns.  Never undrstood this. I'll admit I don't run cannons on my trader brigs in fleet cause well they suck and are instant dead any way, but any deep water trader I'll spend that 40-50 cargo space on guns, they might not be the top tier cannons or anything other than mediums, but they gotten me out of a few sticky spots.  Nothing like endless AI chaining some one your fighting with your actually Escort ship in the lead or a battle set up trade ships.

it is alt abuse if its the same player because he uses the information which wouldn't be possible to gain if he werent there with his second account. If it would be an other player helping him then thats allowed. Yeah also about cannons, better safe than sorry :)

Right?! I run guns on my Indianman that have sent a few reqs running, those 68lbs are magical against stern campers. I knock those masts down like a damned lumberjack. I am always baffled when I see a trader without guns or one that sends their fleet away. The whole point of sailing in a fleet, historically, is the numerical advantage. Why have so many indianmen if you aren't going to use the guns? But if you build it like a frigate it can actually be a pretty formidable ship, like a heavy Belle Poule. Indianman aren't fast enough to run, so you fight or die. Those are your options.

Alts are treated the same as any normal player. There are a few exceptions when it comes to port battles, hostility, and killing your own alt.

There is a case to be argued that if someone uses their alts in a way that is too obviously "altish" - like just sitting in the capital zone spotting, or even going so far as to escorting people around to just to relay their position instead of actually helping if they get into trouble - then the alt could be forcibly moved to the same nation as the main character.

Months ago I took the extensive time to find and then risk to shadow a large Russian Port Battle fleet. I was giving location updates thinking I was helping the nation out only to find afterwards there was a British Alt sailing with them doing the same,  Alt having taken no time and no risk. Then the screening fleet after they successfully intercepted and sunk the enemy PB fleet thanked the Alt Player.

Only one person thanked me. That was the last time I've bothered to search for enemy PB fleets again or take part in screening.

Alts, Mod Stacking, DLC Ships especially the Requin are a cancer to the game.

What made it more of a waste of time is that due to time zone (server +12 hours), real life family and work commitments the hours that I can participate in RVR are extremely minimal. The one time I was able to get involved it was all for nothing thanks to one Alt player.

Latest experience vs Alt he used two ships in a battle one to stern camp and then the other a larger ship with more crew and mod stacked for boarding to board.

Now the latest cancer the Requin means why even bother logging on.

Loose lips sinks ships. The devs has already accepted spies, alts are allowed as long as they don't give an unfair advantage that a single player or cooperation between players could get. In this case - it's a lowly abuse of an alt, but sadly within the rules.

Let's not justify them with the name "spies" when they operate openly.

Captain, economic warfare and spying by alts is allowed, thus the case is closed, but you can still provide suggestions to discuss like this

It's allowed as part of game designed, or allowed because you have no means to successfully police/control alt accounts without expensive third party anti cheat.  I expect the later is the real reasoning for allowing them.

Anti cheat has no relation to alts. Please check this topic:

Is this a player in your nation using an alt to tag you?

Is that the accusation? Because then that is grounds for abuse in my opinion.

The game has the DLC, 'Prolific Forger' available for all who wish to purchase it.

If the game wanted to support true spying, then Alts should be banned. If banned, a player who wanted to play the role of a spy would have to change Nation and Character name by using  'Prolific Forger'. He would then relay information to his clan members and nation of true allegiance through various means of communication; thus playing the role of a true spy, and not playing one character against the other.

We're diminishing the integrity of this great game by the acceptance of Alts. The combination of "Prolific Forger' and multiple Alts is a cancer to this game. It disrupts almost every aspect of fair and equal gameplay.

The Companies owning ports and CLOSING them to anyone but their own Company and possibly friend Companies would difficult alt life a lot.

This means no contracts, no buy/sell, no fleets, etc whatever we can think to limit.

Cannot end the alt issue but can surely difficult their "miserable" life 👽

would make griefing of your own nation clans possible. In prussia everyone hates ROVER we wouldnt be able to enter/buy/sell at any port :(

I'm in 100% support of clan-centric game play with the ability to change ports to 1) Open to all, 2) Open to nation, 3) Open to Friendly Clans (for which any clan, even from opposing nations can be added for access *and* defense), 4) Closed to everyone except owner.

Anti Cheat has every relation to alts! Using alt accounts is considered cheating in multiplayer gaming and AC can detect multiple accounts from one IP address and ban them. There is no good reason to allow alt accounts they wreck every game mechanic.
