About 'Skill Book'

1. Reinforced Rudder

Bonuses

Rudder

Module Base HP: 75% (I think, this option Advantage. right?)

Rudder Halfturn Time: 20% (This option be confused. Advantage or Penalty ???)

 

2. Optimized Rudder

Bonuses

Ship Turning Speed: 4%  (I think, this option Advantage. right?)

Rudder Harfturn Time: -15% (This option be confused. Advantage or Penalty ???)

 

3. Light Blocks and Ropes

Bonuses

Sail Rising Speed: 20% (I think, this option Advantage. right?)

Yard Turn Speed: 10% (This option be confused. Advantage or Penalty ???)

Sail

Sailing Crew Required: -15% (This option be confused. Advantage or Penalty ???)

 

4. Light Canvas

Sail

Sailing Crew Required: -15% (This option be confused. Advantage or Penalty ???)

Sail

Module Base HP: -10% (I think, this option Penalty. right?)

Sail Rising Speed: 15% (I think, this option Advantage. right?)

Ship Cannon Destroy Probability: 0.2 (This option be confused. Advantage or Penalty ???) Penalty, this means your cannons have less hp and can be destroyed more easily.

This brings up the question, why are newbies coming onto the forum to ask these questions.  I am always asking someone about these, myself.  If only there was a way for a computer game to put out some form of document that explained this stuff!

When you need more time to turn the rudder it's a penalty because it takes more time for the ship to start turning. If something reduce turn time of rudder then the ship starts to turn faster.

Same goes for cannon. Less crew -percentage means more crew for other tasks. But the probability to lose cannons is increased by 20%.

Overall read the tooltips carefully. And think about it. Like sailing crew required. Is it better to have more sailing crew or less? Less would mean the free guys could run the cannons. Then look at the percentage + mean values increase. - mean values decrease. In your example you require less crew so it's a benefit.

Speed = Bonus to speed means good. Faster raising speed.

Time = Bonus to Time means bad. Longer time is take to raise sails. 

Am I wrong here?

Speed +20% means I am raising sails +20% faster.

Correct increase of speed good. Increase of time bad.

The UI changes are coming and the color codes are nice suggestion when they include color blind mode as well.

Also, as we have now, there's a lot of confusion due to misreading.

Example is yards. Some items say speed, others say time. Pay attention.

Speed +20% is not the same as Time -20%. Both are benefic though.

Do not look only to the numbers, look to the decribed effect - in the example - TIME. If it is positive it increases time by X amount. If it is Speed, it increases speed by X amount.
