Needed hostility for ports a bit weird

Recommended Posts

We just had to do 6 hostility missions with 6 1st rates (3480BR) for Cabo de la Vela which is a 2640BR port.

to be honest it is a bit much for such a small port ...

Definitely understand the annoyance. Same when you grind shallow port, seems like it take forever to finish it.

On the other hand, it gives a defender opportunity to intercept and harras your fleet. Fair game.

Hold on,till UI is finished, think about RVR suggestions like admin said.

You dont grind shallow water ports with shallow water ships... What is weird because you cant intercept in the shallow water area those guys in big ships while you only can leave port in shallow water ships..

You can grind any port with any ships. That is not the point.

That was exactly my point. Shallow water ports should only be flippable with shallow water ships to make it even.

An idea, if you enter with a 1st rate, the enemy IA is a 2nd. Always one rate less than your current ship.

Because right now, hostility missions favors a lot to the defender. Also this change will make hostility missions faster.

I think it wont because you get more hostility from killing a 1st rate

but yes if a port is defended it is very hard to do hostility

it is quite easy to smash a second rate in a first rate.

Also I was thinking too in the case of a pvp engagement.

Dunno I liked the old system better.  Always 4 missions no matter what, could use bigger ships against aggies and stuff to make it a little less boring.

What should be and what shouldn`t decides the owner of the game.

Hostility mechanic is garbage. Introduce raids and other player-generated mechanisms that work to create on-demand content that creates PvP and is more varied than click on swords, kill AI, rinse repeat.  Current hostility is just lazy because the developers don't want to code up anything more complex than one, basic engagement mechanism.

Why not let us start a raid, sail/escort in troops and marine transports.. land them to take out fortifications, soften up the populace with economic blockades, etc.  So many good alternatives, multitudes of mission types, etc. have all been proposed in the past.  This Mickey Mouse sinking of NPC ships in different numbers or configuration to run up hostility is just trash.

good point

hostility points should definitely depend on port size and BR more than they do now.

Hostility for shallow ports should be limited to shallow ships. Make the playing field level. In the Bahamas for example its easy for pirates to roll up in deep and do hostility but some nations cant respond with deep.

PS
And balance the hostility gain

hostility NPC defence is mirrored so it is still better than before when you could steamroll light ships in a first rate.
But lets start with improving the hostility cost per port based on BRs - it wont get in this patch but will be hot fixed later in a week or two.

I believe anyone can help raise hostility but a clan has to be involved for the game to assign the port battle to one.

I may be wrong, I'm sure @admin can confirm or correct.

Also, please, I beg you for a decrease of the taxes on port timers and the introduction of better rewards in hostility missions and port battles ( for both sides). Current RvR is dead because it is a favour when the enemy takes a port from you, also people just dont care to do RvR when they can do other activities in the game that give them more money and rewards.

RvR, the endgame of NA, is less rewarding than doing PVE.

Yeah I agree that's a lot better for sure but I think the game would benefit from things been black and white with hostility.

Shallow PB's should require shallow Hostilities. Maybe even just moving the spawn zones of the missions again to be in shallows only and tweaking some of the ports that are surrounded by deep.

For example Arthurs town has deep right up to the port and used to be one of the bugged ports. Maybe just make it a deep water ? or increase the area of shallows near the port.

Either way balancing of the BR is a good start :)

Yes
You can just sail to the area and sink NPC ships or players to gain or reduce hostility (but those have to be of the nation of the port owner or attacker nation)
In some ports it is tricky due to NPC routes.
