Reward them?.

Yes, give them 100 pvp marks and 10 mill.

I think that's what I am on about here...

I was replying to Fellvred not you

Salty about what? I don't consider myself a badass, I sink many times every week. I used both super tanky slow and super fast ships for solo hunting, different play styles and both can work just fine, ask Pipalanoix, Reverse or Ram Dinark. My rattlesnake got to you in battle, that was the goal. OW tag was irrelevant. It's your fault you got "ganked", you had a chance for a fair battle, you didn't take it.

You got to me after the surprises worked down my sails, what's your point?.

My fault I got ganked?, okay but did I ever complain about it?.

And you go out in super tanky slow ship hunting on your own?. You know sitting outside a port and hunting are two different things.

Pina Colada is a known griefer, he chains to death in every battle and never fights. He likes tagging you many times after battle and following. As experienced player I know how to get away from him, but it's annoying and time wasting. @Wyy @EliteDelta and many other players to mark in this topic to share their experience with Pina Colada.

I can witness to this, he tagged me in my LGV Refit/indiaman (dont remember) doing trade runs, I told him if he wanted to fight or not while he was at a far distance keeping me tagged in battle. I got pissed off and  escaped for then to wait 10 sec later of him still chasing me, tagging me info a new battle, still dint want to fight and then called me a pussy because he was griefing. I forgot to set bounty on him, thanks for the reminder Banished :)

Pipalanoix maybe sits outside the port, but yes, I sailed around on Santisimas, Bucentaurs, Bellonas or even very tanky Constitution going just 10-11 knots solo. I had some great battles and I was "hunting", not just sitting ducks in front of the port. How is that surprising to you? It takes much more skill than using fir-fir ships, but it is a variable tactic.

If i need 1h+ to take down a Aga or a other Ship in my Snow then it takes so long. Players told me for them that it was the most boring battle they had. My solution for that case is they coud surrender. But if someone does not show a sign to do some damage only sail shooting even he coud escape thats real waisting of time.

How it is surprising?, surprising that you are not ganked when you go out all by yourself in a slow ship. Or maybe you are ganked and just so good you sink them all single-handedly, or you just lucky and meet another tanked out ship and have a good 1 v 1...

Or maybe you just manage to dodge gank squads with your variable tactic.

I don't really consider it griefing, it's just how open world is designed atm. Is it griefing if a fir/fir Prince keeps a slow heavy rattle at range because he'd be creamed at close range? Is it griefing if a cannon frigate keeps a carro frigate at long range and spends an hour taking out sails and using up your stack of sail repairs?

All your statements are true. It's both skill and luck combined. My 10.6 knots Constitution got away from 10-15 Brits chasing me in "revenge fleet" at Belize, mostly GNF players.

It is griefing when they have no intention of fighting or killing you. They just want to hold you in battle. Working someones sails down or shooting at range is not the same as tagging someone, shooting ball at sails for 1 1/2 hours, then re-tagging them to do it again.

Probably, but op didn't mention anything about retagging etc. The tagged player can also put a call out for help to gank the other guy.

The way the open world is designed atm is player A can choose to keep player B in a battle for 90 mins, just like it's player B's choice to surrender and leave if he doesn't want to stay there. I'm not a fan of the design (way too much wasted/down time etc) but I can't see it changing any time soon.

I had a live oak white oak bridgetown heavy rattle. He was probably fir or bermuda.  So he had speed advantage.  Also, he only shot sails and repeated it after I repaired sails so my sails were not at 100%.  Also hrattle does not have stern chasers so he just keeps shooting sails from a distance.  Just to be clear, I was not trying to run and sailed towards him to engage. After 20 minutes of distance kitting I got fed up and sailed away just to have him repeat the distance kitting.  He sailed away after 40 minutes without even having fired at my hull.  Just endless hitting of sails from a far distance.

The point is that players should not be permitted to kite your sails for 40 minutes just to be annoying.  If you want to fight, then fight, if you want to run then run.  But staying at a far distance and only shooting sails for 40 minutes is an issue.

Just go with the wind next time, he won't go over 10 knts even if he's totally speed decked out, most Prince hardly get over 8 knts.  I think even your Tank out H Rattler should be faster than that.  Though can understand the pain of some one that does that. I done my fair share of kitting with Princes lately but always to hold some one in battle until the big boy shows up or for an edge and the other guy slip.  Got a rattler the other day just that way, but I wasn't kitting from a mile away I was popping his mast just out of range of his carros.

Best thing to do when your in a tank out ship and that goes for any tank out ship is just not sale solo.  I found the EU French in the shallws can't catch a Teak/Teak Prince/Privateer right now and that is what I been playing with them mid day in the shallows.  If it's 1 vs 1 I'll fight, if they jump in with 3-5 vs me I'll kite them until I can make a good run and escape.  Though they found the other day even 2 vs 5 wasn't good odds when you have all Carros lol...ate them up bad.

Just for the reckoning about the "10h kiting", I remember revenge fleets chasing me and my friends for 3h-4h. That's still not close to 10h, but just to give an example that similar kind of griefing has happened already and it's hard to avoid it. One of them was SORRY around Mortimer, other were some Spanish in Mexico Gulf and many other places around the map overall. It's not just capitals where it happened to make it clear for everyone.

I remember doing three battles back before the wipes with some brits a long long time ago.  First battle me and a clan mate jumped this Brit and got his indman and escort ship with our two trincs.  Than we get out to find him and a bunch of friends.  We go for a run.  We escape, the clan matementions he needs to leave soon, get tagged again.  I distract them enough to get them to chase me so that he can leave for dinner.  I get out of the battle when clock runs out.   I get tagged again.....run the clock out.  Some of his Brit buddies fell out by the end of that battle.  He tags me again with only one back up....that guy drops out half way through the battle just about the time I finsih cooking dinner.  Shit you not I walked away and made dinner in the chase lol.   I turn around and fight him.  Sink him and than go to eat my dinner.  All in all it was pretty much 10 hours of battles between me and that guy/group cause I sunk one trade ship and we hardly made it around the coast and way from them.  10 hours is way to freaking long think I would prob just say hello kitty it now and surrender about the 3rd time I get tagged.

Which is something I did last night cause I was pretty dead with the odds/wind in my Vict and I needed to get to sleep.  It was one of my redeemable ones any way so all I really lost was the Poods on the second deck and the Cart Tar refit I had on it.  No biggy.

Correct. Sailing directly downwind should lose a Prince. If you are too slow to do that then that is the downside of building a tank with no speed. People can play the game how they like, Pina Colada is a solo player and hunts Traders and other 6th rates in his Prince, which is valid (like a Pirate). He HAS to be in a fast ship cos he doesn't have clan mates to call up if he gets tagged by multiple ships. Agreed he shouldn't keep people in battle when there is no chance of success, but 40 mins, it doesn't sound like he did.

IMO it is ok to chain a player to catch him or slow him down if you are going to engage at some point.  40 min into the battles Colada still had not engaged although he shot sails at a distance for 40 minutes.

This is a waste of time and IMO done purely to annoy the other player.

We are all here to enjoy playing the game and should not have to endure this.  Can you imagine how gameplay would be if the majority of players started to chain at a distance just to keep the battle going with no intent of engaging.

Read what I wrote in chat as well as Pina Colada's response.  His intent is clear.

Also, seems like this is standard practise for him.

Something has to be done about this.

You remember our meeting at Cul de Sac some days ago? You where in Fir/fir P-Frig and your Buddy in a Surprise ... you said you will hold us in battle for the whole 1,5 hours ... you did it for 30 Minutes and then you had to leave because your buddy get trapped between us and the land. This was no griefing? I dont complain, i had fun and i knew you where annoyed because we saved the noob in 1st rate XD

Yea, that was griefing and we were annoyed :) We wanted to fight you and Cerberus or the Victory. We waited 20 minutes for that fight, you could imagine our frustration. For the reckon, we kited you for 40 minutes and we decided to disengage before Fabs got trapped xD Rookie mistake on his side.

Without knowing his intentions with the tagging this does not surmount to greifing. There are plenty scenarios where this is perfectly legal and valid tactic, I am not saying this is one but sure is not worthy of tribunal.

This player does it to everyone, everyone is tired of him. His intention is never to fight. That's pure griefing. It's not one-time incident, there are tons of victims.

He attacked and tagged me.   I have no problem in fighting but enduring 40 minutes of at a distance sniping sails is problematic.

This right there is why I keep quitting, every time I come back to the game. It seems like the majority of players are not interested in good fights but rather PvE or fights that they have a very high chance of winning. Some players did this constant chaining and kiting to me aswell, only to waste my time and some insulted me for attacking their traders as if I was doing something wrong. Subhuman is what I would call this behaviour.

have had the same problem with him multiple times:

he will run, chain and when you want to leave he will chase you and if you turn, he will, once more, run and chain.

chained me to 50% while i was fighting the bait and left

Kiting is allowed by game rules, with the chain rework the problem should soften. We will monitor this gameplay problem further on.
