@adminwhat is the story with all the wipe talk on the forums lately. Last time it was said that there will be no more xp wipes etc.

Simple question to devs only.  Will we ever have to grind ship knowledge or farm for books again? What kind of wipes are we looking at.

I would appreciate it if people didn't reply to this tread unless you have evidence to back your claims.

I just would like to add, from a crafter perspective, another question: will all the crafting BPs (ships and upgrades) be wiped as well?

That does not exclude that some other things could be saved. So the question about the actual scope of the wipe on launch is absolutely legitimate.

Yah I'm hoping we can talk them in letting us keep our ship knowledge cause I honestly do not want to grind all these ships out again.  The econ stuff I'm fine with rebuilding.

For assurance I think it's safe to assume that there will be some kind of wipe in the future/before release. I wouldn't mind a full wipe if it was necessary for the game, the last wipe was pretty enjoyable, like playing a new game. I'll consider UI as my pre-release release. UI has been on the list for what, 3 years now? Finally hitting that milestone unlike other games with full dev teams that still have no prospect of release :dayz:

Effects of a wipe are quite limited: a bunch of negative reviews like 'hey, where is my progress? Hate this shit' and a day or two until big clan economy is set up again.

Whoever wants to regrind for a hundreds of hours: reset your account or buy a new one.

I hope they wipe only the money and resources!

Also wiping ships, outpost and buildings would be fair enough

If that's what the game needs then so be it, they signed up for EA.

On release it will be removed from EA and put into the normal marketplace, NA will once again be put up on the front page of "New Releases" and will catch the eye of many thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people. The last game I saw go through this was a very old title ported over to steam as a last ditch to get players. That was a good, but very old and clunky game that just couldn't be modernized to this decades standards, but NA in a finished state may be good enough to quickly snag a couple thousand people, get some youtube attention, etc.

So if it's up to a wipe then everyone should be ready to take one. There's more worth in being ready for release than there is in pleasing your current audience. Let's not botch the release if we can help it. ^_^

I agree, the devs would be foolish to announce anything more than a day or two before.

And I really wonder why people are talking about it now... Every time I have seen discussion about it it always had the same effect. So if you want to scare people away... please continue. Yesterday evening we ended up with 160 players (and at some point under 150)...

Captains, at this stage we can only say that Battle XP, Crafting XP and ship slot xp are not going to be wiped.

Assets (ships. gold, resources) wipe will only happen if significant changes to economy are going to be added.

Sorry for bothering you, but as far as skillbooks and crafting BPs is there any clue if they are likely to be wiped or not?
