Bombardment Missions

Recommended Posts

Since the introduction of wind direction changing in battle instances, taking a mortar brig into 1st rate solo missions to gain XP and ship XP is no longer a feasible tactic. This is due to the fact that by the time the MB is in a position to begin firing, the wind had changed enough to make that firing position vulnerable and thus the MB has to move again. Rinse and repeat, and you run out of time before you can sink the ship(s).

Since it doesn't look like the wind is going to be changed, and it was always gamey as hell using 1st rate mission to gain XP in a 6th rate ship (although was very relevant for PB's), I suggest a new mission type be added geared towards the MB.

You can still do it but you need to take a single admiral mission and hope that you are against a Santi. Then it just takes time and patience

I understand how it works, that isn't the issue. I took 40-50 missions this weekend and didn't get a single santi, about 60% were 2 3rd rates (3rd and Bellona usually) which were hard before and now not even worth bothering with, and the rest were Victories, which the timer ran out on before sinking. Before, it was 30min to an hour to complete these missions depending on reload rate, accuracy, and ship type.

Just tag enemy fleet near a fort, or take a mission near enemy's town. Destroy the fort, gain XP.

but then you have to also kill the enemy, which is easier said than done in a MB. Not to mention you have to just happen to find an enemy ship passing by and enemy port that is within the relative BR, and then kill the fort in the 15 grace period after the end of the battle. Not a good solution.

Yes, a temporary one, which you can use in a clan, not alone, unless you tag a trader.
