Ultimate BR balancing

Recommended Posts

Last BR balancing is found somewhat controversial. Instead of setting BR arbitrarily, please let players do this by using info of what ships and how often they bring to PB's.

You can do this in two steps:

  • Use some BR calculation to define 75% of ship's BR. Eg. Wasa - 290 BR, Aga - 300 BR
  • let remaining 25% be defined by how often a ship was used in PB's in last 2 months. If it was used often, gradually increase the BR.

Result:

  •  If people use only Wasa and not Aga, Wasa will be eventually worth 362,5 BR, while Aga still 300 BR.
  • If after some time someone finds a new meta for Aga, people will start to use it and eg. BR could change to 290 BR Wasa, 375 Aga

Advantages:

  • system promotes diversity of ships in time
  • you can have a self-balancing system which you won't have to adjust with changing meta

Example of how it can be calculated on every maintenance:

  • Let's say there were 300 deep water PB's in last month. Out of those, 200 were 7200 BR or lower (since higher BR forces you to take 1st rates to fill up BR)
  • Let's say those 200 battles were worth a total of 1 mln BR
  • Let's say Wasa was 500k of this BR, and Aga was 0
  • set Wasa's BR by 50% of possible limit. Set Aga's at 0

After testing, you could increase the 25% ratio of automatic BR to a higher one.

A better way would to set markers at each 100 BR, so 7th rates are 1-100, 6th rates 100-200, 5th 200-300 etc.

Then just use common sense to put ships where they belong. For example an agga thats a 4th rate should not have more BR than a Wasa 3rd rate.

But don't forget that this was a pre-release of the BR balance, there is tweaking to come.
