Patch 17: Finalization of the sailing and combat models

This game is skill based. That means whoever is more skilled than you (in a little more or less ship rank range), could beat you, regardless of the kind of ship. Theoretically, a good captain should win anyway against a weaker (in skills) Captain. We are here to test it, too. Buffing or nerfing a ship doesn’t lead anywhere IMO, should be the ability of the captains to make difference. Thus, a ship should be an exquisite matter of tastes: you prefer a tank? Ok. You like the fastness ones overall? Fine, but in the end should be your ability to “read the battle” that could be priced, not “the bigger +5 magic dancing 2 handed Sword of Doom”. We are not in a Fantasy game, here. Or, at least, we shouldn’t :)

And there was me thinking we were playing TOP TRUMPS! Of course the game is skill based, I am not an idiot. However what I want to avoid is seeing the same ship everywhere in OW when I sail around. Before when you sailed and you saw a player on the horizon, 80% of the time it was a wasa usually in a group of them,  now when you see a player, there is a very high probability it will be an Endymion and also usually a group of them. The devs need to encourage players to mix things up a bit. Do you see my point now?

From 2.37 to 2.83 on connie.

And still ships like the Ocean and Buc with so low turnrate. A bit disappointing.

Not to mention the santi's turn rate , which is very close to the vic's. That's also disappointing

I also don't care for the nerf on the trinc. overall I think all 5th rates are ineffective for the most part. the new sailing modules make it almost impossible to stern camp with a 5th and the new penn models make it almost impossible to bounce large shots in 5ths. but I'm sure it will change again.

In what way other than turn rate? Endymion has the higher firepower, hp, thickness, it bounces balls at more angles than the Trinc AND higher sail hp. Please do tell me where I am wrong.

1. Trinc has stronger pump, about same HP, and sails HP (slight difference), a bit higher speed, better turn rate, a bit better max weight. Thickness 1cm less. YUGE difference.

2. You say Endy has more firepower, but that's just on paper. Endymion loads 24s and 9s, while 9s will be useless against Trinc and 24s will load very long time. Trinc carries 18s and 9s. Trinc will have a higher DPS.

3. Trinc has higher yard power and tacks the wind better. If a Trinc gets on your stern, you will never get rid of it. 4 bow chasers will wreck you.

4. Trinc has a better broadside power with full load of carronades compared to Endymion.

Do you have anything more to add? Plz stop crying. I use both Trincs and Endys and both ships are fine.

@admin so how bout a better explanation on the BR of the ships being changes, which was never mentioned in your patch notes. ty.

EDIT:

p.s. NVM I see yall went full retard with the BR again that's why you didn't post it... trinc=240 br.... wassa=290 (with hp buff to)     wappen=280

here we go with full wassa pbs again. nice.

What difference does the pump make? If you are at the point where you are concerned about the pump starts then it is already too late.

I'd love to sail one of these Trincs that carries 12 pounders on the weather deck. Do you get them from a specialist supplier?

Sitting behind a ship like that only works if you are certain he does not have boarding mods or you do have them. The easiest way to stop someone sitting behinf you like that is to go upwind and board them.

Trinc has only 9s on weather? Ah well... I haven't used longs on Trincs for ages, I thought it's same as on Essex and Pirate Frigate. You sure you can go upwind and board me? I will just slow down, adjust my speed and load grape on my bow to wipe your crew while you get your boarding prep. You will lose 100+ crew before/if you get me in boarding. Safe distance of 20m and you will never board me.

Not sure where I challenged you to a boarding action? You seem to be taking this personally sir.

Against good player your tactic will never work. It works against inexperienced players.

Speeds have been updated for lighter vessels and majority of light vessels have received a speed buff.

Is this specific entry a result of the review on the sail plans, etc, or a for-the-sake-of-gameplay adjustment on top ?

It's not magic... it's RNG :) ... everything is better with RNG.

Ships are different dut to their nature, even in the same rate. Devs cannot place the same ship with different names/classes. Of course players prefer the thougher ones. We can talk about what kind of ships we have in the pool but every ship (if correctely balanced) has better and weaker points.

The devs need to encourage players to mix things up a bit. Do you see my point now? I do, but why the Endymion rather than another ship? You suggest Devs let things stay as now, maybe because you like to sail in a certain ship, i suppose. What’s the difference if a ship has 1-2 cm more thickness? Devs did’t change the # of sailors (boarding), # of cannons and so on. I did’n see any huge change, and they are not directely responsable if some gamers buy a +100 m thickness (i exaggeratet, of cousre) with the buffs you can buy at ports or at other players. We can buff (or trim, if you like) by ourselves our beloved one. We can talk about the use (and especilly about the abuse) of those stuffs, but every ship could have a monster-built. So you can sail your beloved one, huge buffed by yourself and win anyway against those “bad boy” Endymion or whatever.

they calculated the br on pure DPS, no surprise cause now traders can mount guns too.

but this game is not all about dps. a santi its not worth 35 more than a ocean imho
