does this mean open world will be even slower? It sounds like it does ....

Open world speeds were increased 50% since release on early access, and contributed probably to less pvp and less privateering.

Please keep in mind that tow to port will significantly change after interface rework, as you will be able to switch ships at sea and move hold from ship to ship, allowing us to turn tow to its final role of unstuck.

What do you mean we will be able to switch ships? From our fleet I hope... not any ship we have...

Does this mean speed in both OW and battle is decreased with patch? or?

Forged papers being sold .. can I make a wild guess that after this patch we will be minus our existing forged papers?.. whats the odds?

I do not believe the hull speed (maximum speed) is reduced, as it only says "base" speed.

We will see.

Forgive me this this childlish jump in your direction, but by some stupid changes, my brakes are off. ^^

100%
Use them while they last. Though the reason is not the money but database - there are currently 800k forged papers in the database taking space and reducing speed. Total number of items in redeemables is above 5 mln. They all will get removed including all other unused redeemables except for XP and crafting XP. Player gifts and testing items will be moved to claimable gifts like in most other games. Which you have to login and claim. Separate announcement on redeemables will be made some time soon.

Although a temporary forged paper will be provided to all new players for 30 days to change a nation just in case they make a wrong choice (on every new account creation).  After 30 day free ride, nation change will be a paid service like in all MMOs (it will be cheaper than WOW's nation change of course as we are an indie company and eat less)

Or.. you know, it probably increased PvP and created more privateering....

The player encounter rate decreases exponentially as player numbers decline, so anything that increases sailing speed, allowing for us to find other people and hunt traders faster actually increases that encounter rate substantially.

Wait will redeemabels be removed this patch as in tonight?   Are you saying in the future like when the game goes live you will remove all this?   Cause yoru going to have a lot of pissed off folks if you wipe all redeemables tonight other than xp.   I still haven't redeemed half my ships cause I don't need all them right now like I did when I was playing on the other server and had to be all over the place and I'm about to head to work so I wasn't planing to redeem crap, but if I need to redeem them I need to log in and start doing and hope I have space for them.

Let's go with facts, that hull speed is not maximum speed. This is not a law on the maximum attainable speed but only the formula giving the hull speed at which the created wavelength equals the hull length on the waterline.

It's not he's opinion. It's true.

It's hard to enjoy the game if there is nobody to fight with, and reducing the speed on OW means less ability to travel, which goes hand in hand with fewer players to meet in ow.
I do not understand you a bit, every time you ask players for an opinion, and when their opinion is totally unfavorable, are you still doing everything by own way.

It's a pity, because when it comes to NA, you have a monopoly.
Certainly if there was competitor, you would care more about the players' opinions and their loyalty.

hull speed is maximum speed in the age of sail (theoretical)
But i think he meant the final speedcap.

Yes, I was referring to the 15.5kn maximum vessel speed, which I thought was derived from the concept of the hull speed.  I could be mistaken.  But I was referring to the 15.5kn maximum speed in game.

7% speed decrease is not that substantial.

Still, larger speeds DID increase number of PvP and privateering. There are zones in which you can get fights, and large areas of the map where you can't. To get to PvP areas, you have to sail through those large empty areas. Doing it slower means you will do less PvP.

On the other hand I'm not an Admin. My post breaks the rule no. 1 that admin is always right - therefore I'm definitely wrong on this.

The only thing that will change the speed reduction is that you'll stay in battle longer, nothing more lol.

Ships were unrealistically fast and the current speed meta is getting annoying because too many players are running from fair fights. Hopefully this will encourage people to care less about speedy ships made of paper and more about ships that can take a punch

discusion of moderation is not allowed and can cause a permanent ban
nobody here is interested in your amazing database skills and your opinions on our database skills
all old redeemables with the exception of xp and crafting xp will get removed as they are a headache for me.
Forged papers will be a paid service

discuss the patch.. if you have nothing to say about the patch, read and reflect.

I was discussing the patch on how your making a change using an excuse that doesn't make sense.

What excuse. We never use excuses here at Game labs as we always say as it is and are always truthful and honest with everyone. If you never lie you will never have to give excuses.
All unused redeemables will be removed eventually including forged papers. It does not have to make sense to you.  It has to make sense to me. I dont want to keep items for players who do not even play. As keeping them is slowing me down. Redeemables was always a feature that was used for testing only (to quickly give out items to testers) and is not efficient and redundant.

Forged papers will be a paid DLC it was mentioned some time ago
