Require pvp to play on pvp server

You may mistake it with EA hype

No. I have been playing pc games for 3 decades. I know quality when I see it. NA was a great game until around april 2016. Since then it went downhill. I know some disagree on my viewpoints but most gamers have left the game and very few are online now.

So you have pretty much one of two options:

1) continue the present game and loose players

2) change the course of the game and make battles easy to get and loss affordable.

But then again. The devs already have my money and the game havent even been launched yet. (That makes me kind of a fool I guess - lol).

No shit sherlock, it was when the game was somewhat new and hyped and not because of multi duras or open battles - both mechanics are complete garbage and we have seen that the majority of the community dislikes them...

Actually, based on the durability thread it's about half and half.

I do want more players in OW, i would love to have a much larger population in the game.

However, there needs to be a balance between the wishes of PVE and PVP players.

I'm quite open-minded towards this, but others are not.

Some suggestions:

  • Give XP and Marks for damage done in battle, even when lost (when i get ganked by 4 ships with a huge BR difference, and lose my ship, even when i did damage to the enemy ships, i get very little in the "reward" department, making this a very sour apple to bite through.)(to promote PVP somewhat, even when losing.
  • Reduce the PVP rewards if the BR's of both parties are hugely different, like say 1000 BR vs 150 BR. (in the hopes of reducing ganking, promoting more "fair" PVP)
  • Limit reinforcement zones only to the regional capital, not all ports of the region.(to reduce the green zones, solves overlap between reinforcement zones)
  • Standardize PVP and PVE marks under 1 currency, and make all upgrades/ refits purchasable by this currency. (rewards being tuned to be slightly higher in PVP, so everybody can have the same stuff on their ships)
  • Reduce the enormous advantage that some upgrades give, the game has become more about who has the better upgrades and less about who has more skill. (6% OW speed, really?)
  • Introduce missions of the "hunt and destroy" or "escort" variety, not being crossed swords on the map, but rather an OW fleet that moved around, with only a general region being provided as to their location.(Escort missions could be announced ingame, giving other players a possibility to intercept).(for example: Spain is bringing in reinforcements towards Havana to aid with the war effort: Spain needs to escort the fleet to Havana, British could attack it in the hope of sinking it, successful escort might give Spain some type of benefit for a certain amount of time)
  • Certain items need to become more available and less rare/ costly. This is a big threshold that is keeping potential PVP players at bay because they fear losing ships/ upgrades that are not easy to replace without a lot of grinding.

Just my 2 cents.

I like this for the most part. Keeping any port that provides resources out of the green zone would be a huge step forward as playing the game Woukd require leaving the safety net.

Always the same argument. If a player wants OW to be a fun place to be in he must be send away to NAL...

LOL

Thats not what I said bro. But there you get fast matches with no losses, sounded like that what you are looking for.

But hey, keep crying. Seems like thats the only thing you want to do here

Usually the sitting in safe zones happens after I've sailed accross the entire map and found nothing outside. I've been doing circuits of the entire map these days looking for pvp. Last night I sailed from la Mona all the way down the island chain to the far southeast corner of the map. Then I sailed all the way to dariena. Didn't see a single soul outside the safe zones. Don't tell me how to hunt, I've probably been at it longer than most on these forums.

I have tried a few nations out and every single capital safe zone is often camped by people like yourself waiting for some poor noob to make a mistake, to sail out a bit too far,  or to attack an AI fleet so you can pile in and kill the hapless victim. It borders on pathetic. and the fact you ignore other people doing the same thing in favour of noob hunting is almost laughable.

Looking for PVP?  here is a tip, if you want pvp join one of nations with a green zone, sit in the green zone until someone like yourself comes along noob hunting and attack them.

You wont do it though because there is a good chance you cant win the fight and people like you just have to be on the winning side.

Ignore other people? Where have you been mate, the people hiding in green zones are usually rear admirals in their fancy ships, not noobs. There are very few noobs in this game and people like me usually give them a pass. I gladly engage other hunters like myself, usually it's the only action I get due to the carebears hiding in the green zone. If no one comes out to fight, I'll gladly take advantage of someone's mistake to get some action. The damned safe zones are way to big and encourage people to never leave them. They need shrunk to just a small area around the capital. All missions should take place outside them, and no ports nearby should have safe zones. Right now, someone could remain in the safe zone and never leave the entire time they play the game. I know one guy in the pirate nation who has never left the safe zone and he's a curse now. It's pathetic.

I think another wipe will probably keep even more folks from coming back. Every time they wipe the game more people go and never come back. Plus it would be even harder on new players having to compete with veterans who know how to make money and are after all the skill books and modules again. Prices for most have come down a lot.... wipe the game and your back at every book and module being worth millions again.

every wipe has decreased pvp availability and made the game that much less fun.

Not the wipe per se kept peeps away, but the mechanics we had immediately after the wipe, all this "hardcore" jazz, plus austerity.

A game needs to be playable, has to provide fun and meaning at the same time, not only requiring hours and hours of real life. If the mixture of RvR, PvP and PvE, with all kinds of missions, treasure hunt, CONTENT in general(and i mean real content, not only new ships) can be found, this game may be great again.
